Chapter 1 - 1: The New Era

"Why...."

"Why...."

That was what he always said in his heart, with his eyes closed and breath tight as if making him want to forget all the things that had happened.

Then when he opened his eyes from the darkness he saw a speck of light in the darkness, he raised his right hand forward and wanted to reach for the light.

It kept moving towards the light that was growing bigger and illuminating the darkness.

Faintly heard someone talking, he heard someone talking but there were some words that were not too clear.

"I didn't expect that there were still laboratories left and it seemed like they were just three!" I heard it softly and softly.

When his eyes were half open, he saw that in front of him were already four men dressed in Hazmat clothes and three soldiers holding firearms.

Somehow he felt his body heavy and felt very narrow and uncomfortable, by continuing to look to the right and to the left he continued to speak inwardly.

"Who are these people?"

And with a weak state and a slightly faded memory, he closed his eyes slowly and went back to sleep.

A few days later, he opened his eyes slowly again, but he was in a different place, comfortable, soft and warm. Yes, he was in bed with a room that looked foreign to him.

Then the door opened and someone went inside, he was shocked and immediately turned his eyes to the person.

"Who are you?"

"Not to be afraid.I'm the doctor who treated you while you were here."

The doctor saw him confused and asked him a few questions to find out his identity.

"Do you remember what happened to you?"

With a confused answer and a slow voice he spoke.

"I don't know what's going on."

The doctor looked at his confused expression and asked again.

"Do you remember your name?"

"No...."

"Hmm.. Maybe you're having Amnesia (Forgot Memory) because you've been in there too long."

And with a confused expression, though, then suddenly entered a man who was dashing with a height of 177cm and wearing a uniform of soldiers complete with two burrows on his right chest that glowed and hair white, white, he spoke from the door he had just opened.

" ' Zaki '. that's the name attached to your capsule, the lab where you three are frozen."

"Huh?... Zaki?"

The astonished expression of 'Zaki' saw the original person enter the room where he was treating.

Then the man introduced himself and said that he was an army officer in the town of Bergorm [The city they are currently in] and told that his name was 'Colonel Mervis Kordgen'.

"Don't you remember that name?" Mervis sees Zaki trying to remember the name.

"Hmm. If you don't remember it don't have to be forced, just rest until you're fully recovered, Doctor Kurdan I'll leave him to you!"

Turning his body and stepping out of the room.

"Give it to me Colonel!" replied doctor Kurtan.

Then the doctor also came out with a smile and told Zaki to rest so that he could recover quickly.

"Well, now that you rest first, I want to go to the next room, where the same people as you are also taken care of."

Then there was the sound of people chatting from outside, the doctor seemed to be talking to someone outside.

Not long after a beautiful woman in the same clothes as her and short yellow hair came inside and began to greet her.

"Excuse me. Someone dressed in the army said that you're just like me, do you remember what happened?.. And this place looks so foreign to me."

Zaki seemed to remain silent as he looked at that person's face, before he answered the woman's question, Zaki also asked her.

"Your name?..who?"

It was a wonder that the woman saw Zaki because she had not answered the question she had first, but she still answered Zaki's question gently.

"Hmm.." said the woman, looking up and pointing her index finger at her chin and trying to remember her name.

"Linda.. The soldier called me Linda!"

"I'm Zaki."

"Do you know your name?"

"No, the Colonel told me that too."

"Hmm. so they call you Zaki yes, then greetings...." Linda smiled gently.

"Well, didn't they say we were three in that lab?"

"Yes...." Linda nodded her head.

"Then...who's the other one?... Have you met him?"

Linda who was also curious shook her head.

"No. I haven't met him yet. Maybe he's in the other room."

Then Linda stood up and ran towards the window and opened the window, the cool breeze gently entering the room.

When Zaki looked out the window from his bed, his vision suddenly darkened and he looked towards Linda, but what he saw was not Linda, passing a female doctor and smiling at her.

Linda who saw the silent Zaki immediately approached her and asked her why.

Zaki who remained in his memory saw the woman speaking.

"Hoo... You managed to get up huh.." the woman spoke a soft tone.

"You who?"

"You don't remember me?.. hmm. So like that, you seem to have lost your memory a little."

"Remember?.. What do you know about my memory, and why are you in my memory?" Zaki continued to ask questions after questions to the foreign woman.

"If your situation is like that, then all you have to do is find your own memory. because our task is done by taking you to this new era."

Increasingly confused he listened to the woman's words....

"Duty?.. era?... What do you mean?" Zaki added that he did not understand the woman's words.

The woman disappeared with a very dazzling red light, her consciousness returned again and she saw Linda beside her worried about her.

"You okay, Zaki?"

"Yes, I'm fine" said Zaki, lowering his gaze down.

"Who is that woman. I have to find out about my memory...."

Linda who saw the strange behavior of Zaki told him anxiously.

"I'll call the doctor!"

"No need. I think I need a little rest." he said gently to Linda.

"Well, I'll also go back to my room to rest.Oh yeah, maybe tomorrow I'll ask where the room 'Yuichi'.." while walking out of the room.

"Yuichi?... Is that his name?" ask Zaki.

Linda stopped at the door and answered Zaki's question.

"Yes..the soldier also told me his name. but I forgot to ask him about the room.

"Then rest well...." Linda closed the door from the outside.

Zaki who still remembered the thing that just happened and with a face that began to be serious he was determined.

"I have to find out what that woman means and also how to reverse my memory!"

"Yes. for now I just rest.mumpung given time to relax even though I do not know ahead what will happen.. haha...." with a foolish expression he said like that and pulled out his blanket and covered his face.

It is in the capital city of Yordafala, a super magnificent building with red flag poles with black lines and crescent moon and gold stars is seen in the middle of the flag and guarded by several soldiers in army uniforms in front of it.

 Colonel Mervis got out of his car and a beautiful female soldier greeted him.

"Welcome back Colonel."

While walking towards the entrance into the Mervis asked the female soldier.

"Is the general inside?"

"Hmm.. Then Casta, please copy this report, because I want to report this matter as soon as possible...." Colonel Mervis gave some papers to Casta.

"Ready Colonel."

Mervis continued walking towards the meeting room, when he reached the door, he opened the door and went inside.

There are three people who are there one person is sitting in a tight chair by holding a piece of paper and a large and dashing posture and wearing an Officer outfit complete with rods on his right side and with a four-star rank on his shoulders, he is General Eugine Ovmide.

One more man was standing by the window in a normal posture of white hair and wearing the same clothes as General Eugine, he was General Rayfox Elwis Friander, and the other stood by the table with a firm posture with his officers' clothes and roared on his right chest and black hair, he was Colonel Louis Heroxes.

"Ah.. You've returned Mervis!" general Rayfox.

"Yes... The general!" while giving respect.

"Heard your soldiers found a lab while patrolling the woods?" general Rayfox asked casually.

"Yes, when I heard the report about the laboratory I immediately sent officers to check it," Mervis replied seriously.

"Don't be too rigid..just relax.." replied General Rayfox while laughing at the sight of Mervis who was too serious.

"But General.." said Mervis timidly.

"Then...what did they find in there?"

"The laboratory looks very mysterious.It may have been abandoned about 500-600 years ago, most of the data about the laboratory has been lost and there are only a few books about the research done there."

"Hmm...have you read that book?" ask General Rayfox.

"Well, if I haven't read it."

"Then I want to see the book...."

"I'm sorry General, I forgot to take it and it's still left in Bergorm, but I'll take it and bring it here immediately" Mervis replied feeling guilty.

"Hmm. well, if possible soon because I was curious about what research they were doing.." replied General Rayfox expecting to read the book soon.

"Ah.. regarding the research, there the officer I sent found three living people."

"Still alive?" General Eugine and Colonel Louis answered Mervis in surprise.

"How can any human being live to be 500 years old" Colonel Louis said.

"They don't really live outside. I mean they're inside a frozen capsule...." Mervis tried to clarify the circumstances of the three men.

"Hmm." replied General Rayfox.

"Is it possible to freeze humans for that long?" ask Colonel Louis curiously.

"Hmm. I'm not so sure.maybe they used 'that'." replied General Eugine holding his chin.

" 'That'?.. lest-don't...." Loius and Mervis looked surprised.

"Yes.it is unmistakable that they must have used one of the Legendary Artifacts...." General Rayfox replied with a very serious expression.

"L-Legendary Artifacts.it's not a rare object," the colonel's response was surprised.

"But, we still don't know the specifications of the Legendary Artifacts that were used," General Rayfox spoke while holding his chin as if he was seriously thinking about it.

"Obviously they must have done that not recklessly." explained General Eugine.

"You said there were three of them, right?.. Then how are the three?" ask General Rayfox.

"When they were taken out of the capsule, they were a little weak and had memory loss, even while in the hospital and being treated, I asked them their names, but none of them remember what happened, but, according to reports from the first team that found them, each one was written a letter."

For a moment the room became quiet.

"What's written there?" general Eugine asked curiously.

"Zaki's... Linda... and Yuichi, I assumed it might be their name that was left behind."

"The loss of their memory may also be an effect of the Artifacts, given that they were in there for hundreds of years waiting to be removed" muttered General Rayfox.

"Oh yes, before I came here I had sent my soldiers back to the laboratory to look for something that might be used as a guide" said Colonel Mervis.

"Well, if you have any new information about the lab, report it to me quickly."

"Ready General!" Colonel Marvis raised his hand and saluted and walked out of the room with Colonel Louis.

While outside the room, while walking in each room, Louis talked about training the new members who would be selected for the requirements to join the Division.

"Mervis.do you have prepared the soldiers who will follow the selection."

"Division kah.. unfortunately not yet. but I will soon prepare it.." said Mervis.

"The selection will start in three weeks.I hope you consider the soldiers who will take this test."

"The toughest test?.. Why is it like that?"

"I heard because they will be the main fortress in frontline battles.if they are not ready to face death."

"Their placements have been changed...."

"Yes, because the higher-ups want soldiers who can quickly clear the battle with less damage and than I heard... every captain of every division will be given the Artifacts."

When he got to the door of Mervis' room, there was a female soldier waiting for him there.

Then Mervis entered his room followed by Casta.

After Casta put the paper report that had been copied, he left the room, but was prevented by Colonel Mervis.

"Casta wait a minute...."

"Hmm... What's the matter Colonel?" Casta answered in wonder.

"Do you want to take the test?"

"Ah... Division member selection test?"

"Yes... I recommend you to take the test.... How?"

"Actually I was so unsure of being able to pass that test." Casta replied hesitantly.

"Hmmm...." The colonel muttered and looked at Casta with a sharp look.

Casta who saw the Colonel's sinister expression immediately agreed to take the test given to him.

"Ah.. but if that's what the Colonel wants, I will try, I will not disappoint you" replied Casta firmly.

Hearing Casta's words and Colonel Mervis' expression immediately changed, he immediately smiled and brandished his thumb.

"Hmm. That's how the soldier I want is supposed to be."

"Huft... why should I...." An annoyed Casta spoke inwardly.

After a long conversation Casta saluted and then came out of the room, and the Colonel ordered him to go to the city of Bergorm to see the state of the three men in the hospital.

When outside the building, there was a beautiful woman dressed in a neat army with long white hair while wearing a black hat with a crescent moon and star emblem on top of her hat while holding a long barrel gun, looking towards Casta.

Casta looked at his friend who was waiting for him to keep watch, then Casta approached the woman.

"Well... Ayla...." Casta called him friendly.

"Hmm... What's wrong with Casta?" answer the beautiful woman.

"Will you accompany me to the hospital!" he said, complaining a little.

"Well?.. Are you sick?" with a worried tone Ayla asked.

"No... I was told by Colonel Mervis to check on the three men found in the foreign laboratory yesterday."

"Ah... the stranger was, hmm. well I will accompany you.. I also wonder what kind of person they are," smilingly accepted Casta's invitation.

Then they changed their clothes and got ready to go to the city of Bergorm.

In the afternoon when they reached the city they both did not go directly to the hospital, but they went around first in the city square and had lunch in one of the restaurants there.

But there they heard soldiers and residents inside the restaurant talking about the three of them who were in the hospital.

"Hey.. did you hear it.." said one of the soldiers.

"Yes.they are being treated by doctor Kurtan right.." replied one of the soldiers.

"I heard the three of them were found inside the frozen capsule.it doesn't look strange."

"I also wondered why it had not been discovered before that there was a laboratory there if the guards were often patrolling." said one of the soldiers.

"I heard that the woman found was beautiful...."

"Cih..your brain is only filled with women.." said his friend with annoyance.

Hearing the rant of the soldiers Casta and Ayla were just silent.

"Hmm.. it looks like we will meet an interesting person.." said Ayla with a tone of seducing Casta.

"Haha... yes it is possible.." replied Casta in a curious tone.
