Until noon, Farida was still silent. He gave no answer to the Emperor. In fact, seven more hours of the application event will be held.
The emperor looked at the watch in his hand for the umpteenth time. She raised her head when she heard the name of her former and future in-laws called by the nurse.
"Come, Dad," said Farida pushing Fadil's wheelchair into the room. The Emperor remained seated in the waiting room together with Maulana.
Half an hour later, they were all in a room. The place where Fadil started to re-stimulate his numb body.
Doctors and nurses did their job, providing therapy to Fadil. Farida was next to Fadil, constantly cheering on her father. Maulana is engrossed in her gadgets. Forgetting the surrounding.
The Emperor saw all of this in silence. Remember the events of six years ago that happened to him. He also had time to get this treatment until he recovered and could be healthy again as usual.
Farida who had been standing near Fadil turned towards the dreamy Emperor.
"Dad, I'll go there first" said Farida pointing to her son and husband sitting side by side.
Fadil.
Farida walked towards the Emperor and sat down next to him.
"What are you thinking?" ask Farida.
Emperor turned. Smiling faintly looked at Farida. Her hand touched Farida's cheek, rubbing gently.
"I imagine if when I was doing that first, you were right next to me, it would all feel different."
"But now I'm thankful you came back to me safe and sound. And bring a great son."
"Thank you for surviving until now. I know your life after your mother's death is no better than mine. You went through every hardship alone that made you a strong woman like this."
"Where do you know all that?" ask Farida.
"Uda Hanafi told it. He also said that if you had bullet-fetching surgery without using drugs to keep our son safe."
Netra Farida glazed over, she threw her face aside and wiped away the few tears that had come out. I don't want the Emperor to see it.
The emperor grabbed Farida's chin with both fingers to be able to look at her face. The other hand wiped away the spot of water that was still left in the corner of Farida's eye.
"If I cannot remove all your wounds, but allow me to make you happy in the future. Allow me to take care of you even if I know you are a strong, independent woman and let me shower you with the love I have even if you may not need it. I'll be whatever you want me to be" the Emperor persuaded.
Farida lowered her head, her hand pulling the tip of the shirt in agitation. "I don't want to get married for fear of being married. I'm afraid of being disappointed after loving someone. I'm afraid you can't keep your promise and go with another woman like you did with Cantika. All men are the same" Farida said.
The Emperor was surprised to hear this answer. Didn't think Farida's rejection was based on the trauma she'd experienced. He always judged badly about marriage. Even Farida knew that the Emperor had left her for Cantika. He didn't know if Farida's mind would be this bad about him.
"Berliana Farida Purba, I'm not that kind of man. You know that my marriage to Cantika didn't go well before you came. I didn't defend myself properly for betraying him, but something that starts with a lie ends badly. All are victims here."
"I fell in love with you, after I lost my memory my soul was still attached to you, and after I met you, I was, I'm sure that you were created just for me and I was only for you" the Emperor said.
"I'm not going to defend myself but I have a special reason. The reason for his heartbreak is that a father knows that the child he has loved so far is someone else's. I will not force you to understand, but I ask for your understanding to forgive my mistakes. I'm just a normal human being who still does wrong and I need you to be around me, giving me the right path, which I need to go through. I'm lost without you."
Farida was touched by the Emperor's sweet words.
"Mother was slow to think, just saying 'yes' was hard. My mother doesn't want to have another father and I don't want to have another step-sister who sucks like Alisa."
Farida and the Emperor stared at Maulana who was sitting together with Fadil. Near them were doctors and nurses who were looking at them with amused smiles.
"Thank you, ma'am, pity your slave" chirped a female doctor with a thick Malay accent.
The Emperor took out a box from behind his shirt. The small box was opened, a diamond ring that radiated a beautiful light was seen to be there.
"I'm supposed to do this tonight, but I want to put it on your beautiful finger right now."
The Emperor came down from his seat with one leg in the back bend. His right hand lifted the small box in front of Farida.
"Berliana Farida bint Fadil, I ask you one more time before I go home, will you marry me tomorrow?"
"Receive ... accept ...," everyone exclaimed.
Farida saw everyone. Fadil nodded his head. Maulana seemed impatient to hear her mother's answer. If he said no, maybe the happiness on his son's face would be gone in an instant. He didn't want that to happen.
"You're not leaving me again, are you?" ask Farida to the Emperor.
The emperor shook his head.
"Will not torture me?"
"You're the only woman who will accompany me to the end of my life."
"Aren't you going to give me that ring in my sweet day?'' said Farida thrusting her finger.
The Emperor looked puzzled by Farida's question for a moment, then he shook his head with a smile. His hand took the ring from his box and put it on Farida's finger.
"Unfortunately, I've put it on your ring finger. From now on and until whenever this ring will be on your finger and you will never let it go" said the Emperor. He hugged Farida.
"Thank you for accepting me again. I'll always try to make you and our son smile happily."
Everyone who witnessed this clapped their hands loudly. Maulana walked closer to her parents.
The Emperor raised Maulana's body and embraced Farida. From now on he will not be wasting his family anymore because they are the most important thing for his life.
Fadil shed happy tears. Finally, he saw a loose laugh on Farida's face. A little bit of this made the tightness in his chest decrease. Tightness due to regret.
Sara, I hope you're happy there to see the smile on our daughter's face.
