Chapter 32. The Result of the Court Decision.

The verdict hearing on the charges leveled against Merlin and Gerald has been completed. Agatha as a victim, also wanted to hear the judge's decision.

Gerald was sentenced to 4 years in prison for false reporting and Merlin was sentenced to 8 years in prison on false testimony and charges.

Gilang clasped his mother's hand when he heard the verdict on Gerald. I don't know what the boy was thinking. Agatha returned the grasp of her son.

Agatha understood before Gilang knew if Gerald was her father, the boy was very close and loved her. He was so proud of his coach.

Asked if Gerald's lawyers and defense team would appeal, the man asked his lawyer to accept whatever punishment he was sentenced to face.

Gerald felt he deserved this punishment. All because of his carelessness and stupidity who just believed in what Merlin said.

Merlin appealed and will be brought by his lawyer. Merlin did not accept the 8-year prison sentence.

Gerald with his hands in handcuffs passed Gilang, Agatha and Bima who sat in the seats of the visitors.

Gerald stopped when he saw Gilang. His son stood up and approached Gerald. His hand in hand.

"Pa, I don't know if I should be happy or sad to see the punishment that Papa is facing. I'm happy that Papa finally got punished for what Papa did. Papa will feel what you feel first. Sad, because I don't have another coach as good as Papa. To me Papa is my idol and role model. Papa was the motivation for me to fight. I want to always be a winner like Papa" Gilang said.

"Every parent will not want their child to be like them, but they want their children to be better than them. Fight for things that are worth fighting for. Now, it's time to find a bright spot to be choosy about what you want to fight for.”

"Papa deserves this punishment. Papa hopes, with his confinement Papa will make you able to forgive Papa. As proof that Papa really feels guilty."

"Hopefully time can make me forget everything. When Papa gets out of prison the wound has healed and I can accept Papa!"

"When you don't want to forgive someone else's mistakes, it becomes a burden within you. Not wanting to apologize is the same as caring for a wound we feel. Unconsciously, we are torturing ourselves. Remember that, son" said Gerald.

Gilang just kept silent in Gerald's arms. Bima and Agatha let the child and father open up to each other and pour out their hearts.

A moment later, Gerald took out his hand that had been hugging Gilang. The time given to the man is over.

"Papa must return to custody. Keep health. Observe what your mother said. And take care of your mother. You're a boy, you have to be strong and be the pride of the parents."

"Papa also took care of his health so that he could see me again. I'll prove if I can be the proud son of both parents."

Gerald ruffled Gilang's hair and kissed his son's cheeks. After that Gerald walked in to the police car that would take him to the detention house. Gerald looked at his son until the police car drove away carrying him. After Gilang disappeared from the sight of his eyes, Gerald looked at the streets.
