“Certify Philip. I'll find you a rich husband.”
Like a daily meal, if her mother comes, there is no more appropriate dialogue to begin the conversation than to denigrate her husband, Philip Sherburne.
“Mom, I don't want.” Flores refused.
At first he continued to try to convince his mother, but over time he was fed up. Simply answer with the word ‘not’, then everything will be finished.
“How much does Philip give for monthly, Flo?” Myah will not give up until she makes this one daughter want to divorce her husband. “That's enough for your life?”
Flores Lottie Smith is the sole heir to the Los Angeles jewelry brand Lottie Harlow. Flores is not the only descendant of Lottie Holding's parent company, her youngest daughter. Myah and Mr.'s last hope. Shem to expand his wealth.
Yes, business marriage between rich families.
“You and Elisha, your daughter's.” Myah responded to Flores' gaze casually.
Flores gave a rough sigh. “That's none of your business, Mom,” she replied. Flores came with a tray of green tea for Myah. “That's my business and Philip.”
Myah laughs. “Philip is just a repairman,” he said. Again Flores heard the remark denigrating her husband.
“What if he's a repairman?” Flores's furious. He put the tray down violently. “He does not kill people, steal, or even .. corruption.”
“He crossed out the family's good name, Flo!” Myah is getting stern. “He humiliated us.”
Flores turned her back on her mother, she rubbed her face in frustration. Actually, Flores doesn't want to accept her mother's visit this Tuesday, but how else? Myah is her mother.
“I've arranged your date with ...”
“I don't want to!” Flores refused. Look at his eyes shooting at the position of Myah. “Don't force me, Mom!”
“Philip has no future!” Myah is getting crazy. He's up. “Not about you, Flo. It's about Elisa.”
Flores is not sure either. He married Philip out of love. That reason blinds everything. The fact that Philip was without a clear background, they met only out of a mistake of fate.
Myah pointed at her daughter. “You now have Lottie Harlow,” she said. That look intimidated Flores. “If this continues, Lottie Harlow's company must move into the hands of your sister, Alice, Flo.”
“I can manage Lottie Harlow Company well,” Flores replied with a clean slit. He's full of confidence. “Lottie Harlow company is fine all this time in my hands.”
Myah grinning. He took his bag. A cup of tea is just a formality. He would not drink anything from this house, no one knew whether or not the tea was bought with Philip's money.
“Your behaviour is non-income, lowly, without education and clear background.” Myah continued to insult him while walking away from Flores. He was about to get out of the room.
Before pulling the doorknob, he turned to Flores. “Such men where reliable, Flo? You'll regret it later!”
“He has no self-esteem!” Myah continuously. “He's shameless, huh!” Myah insulted him with a light laugh. “Can-can be hitchhiking in this house and live as a parasite!”
“Mom, stop,” said Flores, walking closer to his mother. “If Philip hears, he will be heartbroken.”
“Leave it!” Myah snarl. “He is indeed shameless.”
Myah walked through every corner of the room with her gaze. “Look! Now where is he?”
“She picked up Elisa at school.” Flo replied without hesitation. “He helped me because ...”
“You call that man your husband?” Myah. His laughter sounded again. “He's faster to be your helper!”
Myah closed her sentence. Flores was about to chimed in, but when Myah opened the door she was so shocked. I don't know since when, Philip was standing at the door. But not with Elisha.
“Honey?” Flores. He glanced at the misbehaving Myah, trying to avoid Philip's gaze. All the old woman's confidence just disappeared.
Flores was unable to speak, he was unsure of the extent to which Philip had heard the insulting phrase of Myah earlier.
“I go home first,” says Myah. He immediately walked away.
Philip stopped him. “Mom. Eat something before you leave. I will ...”
“You think my stomach wants to receive food from the money that bends?” chortled. “Nobody knows, how dirty the food was.”
“Mom!” Flores snaps. He was about to nag, before Philip finally prevented him.
“I've washed my hands before, so ..”
Myah grinned again. “Eat by yourself. If I come to eat, the food will be less,” he said ketus. “You think your salary is enough to feed the four of us?”
Myah left just like that, no matter how big of a wound she inflicted on Philip.
“Honey,” Flores calls him. “I'm sorry my mom, she always just so.”
A liverache? Sure oes. Philip had brought nothing for his marriage to Flores other than perseverance and pride. Now, his pride was destroyed.
Philip went into the house. “No problem.” He answered as if. “Your mother did.” The man laughed a little.
Flores followed him into the house. Her husband's footsteps stopped when he saw a cup of tea that was still intact. It always is.
“Mommy doesn't like green tea,” says Flores reasoned. “I forced to make it.”
Philip was bearded, then sighed a sign of disappointment. He glanced at Flores. “Then let me drink, I love your tea,” the chuckle.
Philip sat in the middle room. He took off his socks that had been hollowed out.
“You want me to buy new?” ask Flores. He pointed at the hole at the tip of Philip's big toe. “Or just use mine?”
Philip shook his head. “Your money is your money, my money is your money.” He was always laughing, whether the wounds were as big as what was being faked through that laughter.
Flores sat in front of Philip. She only had love, no matter the lack of her husband.
“Mommy came to invite us to dinner,” he told Philip.
As expected, Philip was shocked. Flores doesn't want to be honest. However, the last time she lied to her husband about why his mother came, Flores and Philip had a big fight. Pretty old man Flores doesn't appreciate Philip, he doesn't.
“I've reasoned that we don't ..”
Philip smiled. “We must come,” the answer is firm. “Your family invited us, isn't that good news for us, Flo?” tanyakanya.
Flores.
“What are you worried about?” ask Philip. He pulled Flores' chin slowly. “Everything will be fine,” he said. The man could only anesthetize Flores with words, not with treasures and thrones.
“I'm not sure, Philip.” Flores is worried about Philip, not him. Once inside, Flores could do nothing but accept and hear the humiliation for Philip Sherburne.
Philip sat beside him, rubbing Flores' shoulders. “I'll be fine too. I promise, I'll keep up with your family, Honey.”
Flores gave a rough sigh. I don't know, the last time the family met, Philip was dumped by his oldest brother.
