Something Beautiful

Something Beautiful
Chapter - 54

Two years ago, Lisa did not understand the manners that women and men should respect. He did not realize that Mingyu was humbling himself if the man did not bother bowing in front of him, or kissing his hands, or treating him with respect. Therefore, Mingyu never allowed Lisa to call him by a small name. Now, standing alone here in the middle of the sitting-room, he was angrily very much aware of the insolence of the past, so did the disrespectful act that Mingyu had just done to him today.

He waited until he heard the front door shut, then walked out of the sitting room and up the stairs to his own room. Anger and disbelief doused her when she told her maid to go out and reflexively open her wedding dress.

The man is back! And he's worse than Lisa remembers, worse than she imagined, more arrogant, more dictatorial, totally heartless. And he married that man. Marry me! His screams in the heart.

This morning, everything seemed easy and predictable. He got up and dressed to get married. He has gone to church. Now, three hours later, she realizes that she is married to the wrong man.

Trying hard to fight his tears, he sat on the sofa and wrapped his hands around his stomach, trying to dispel the shadow, but to no avail. The shadows flashed in her mind, tormenting her with images so vivid of her once as a plain young girl who was very drunk. He saw himself staring at Mingyu in the flower garden at the Rosemeade. "I think you're as handsome as Michelangelo's David!" said first. "I love you." Ughhhh!

And when the man made love to her, she almost fainted in the man's arms, and raved about how strong, wise and handsome she was! Lisa is frustrated.

"Oh my God" Lisa cried loudly as old memories returned to her memory. He actually told Mingyu, the most famous playboy in London, that it seemed that the man did not know many women. No wonder the man smirked so much!

Hot tears of shame dripped from his eyes, but he wiped them furiously, not wanting to cry once more for the man, the monster. I've been shedding pouting tears for the man, Lisa thought annoyed!

The words Yugyeom said a few weeks ago again tormented his wounded heart, "Mingyu married you because she feels sorry for you, but she has no interest in living with you nor wants you as his wife. He intends to send you to Devon upon your return from your honeymoon, then he will continue his relationship with his mistress... He met his mistress after you got married. He said to the woman, your marriage is for practicality..."

There was a knock at the door, but Lisa's mind was so fixated on her sadness that she heard nothing until Jisoo walked into the bedroom and closed the door.

"Sina.."

Surprised Lisa looked around and looked around. Jisoo watched her best friend's teary-eyed face then rushed to her side.

"Oh my God," whispered Jisoo in horror and knelt before Lisa and pulled out a handkerchief, she almost fumbled so frantically. "Why are you crying? Did he do anything to you? Is he rampaging.. Or hit you?"

Lisa gulped and looked at Jisoo, but she was unable to make her voice through the lump of tears in her throat. She knows Jisoo's husband is Mingyu's best friend, and now she wonders to whom Jisoo will side with. He shook his head and took the handkerchief that Jisoo offered.

"Lisa." cried Jisoo worriedly. "Speak to me, please. I'm your friend, and I'll still be your friend" said the woman, deciphering Lisa's anxious expression. "You can't keep all this inside you, your face is as white as cotton and you look like you're about to faint."

Lisa once told Jisoo that she was completely fooled by Mingyu, but she never said the man never had feelings for her, and also hid his shame by mocking himself. But now that all this was open, it was clearly displayed in front of Jisoo. While Lisa hesitantly exposes all the embarrassing details regarding her relationship with Mingyu, leaving nothing behind.

During the listening, Jisoo repeatedly shook her head in sympathy and amusedly knowing how Lisa expressed her feelings to Mingyu, but she did not smile when Lisa told him Mingyu intended to send her to Devon.

Lisa finished her talk by explaining why Mingyu had been missing all along, and when she was done, Jisoo clapped her hand. "All that's over. What about your future? Do you have a plan?"

"Yes, ' Lisa replied in a soft voice. "I want a divorce."

"What?!" Jisoo gasp. "You must be kidding me!"

Lisa was serious and she said it.

"Divorce is intolerable" Jisoo said, disbursing the choice in one concise sentence. "You'll be ostracized, Lisa. Not even my husband will allow me to be friends with you anymore. You'll be avoided by society wherever you are, banished by everyone."

"It's still better than staying the man's wife and being left in Devon."

"Maybe you feel that way right now, but don't mind how you feel. I'm sure your husband had to agree to a divorce, even though I can't imagine he's willing to. After all, divorce papers are very difficult to obtain, and you need Mingyu's reason and approval."

"I was thinking about that when you came, and I think I had a reason to get a divorce, and I didn't need her approval. First of all, I was forced to marry because of the situation. Second, when she gets married, she swears she will love and respect me, but she has no intention of doing both, I guess that could be a pretty strong reason to ask for a marriage annulment or divorce papers, with or without his consent. Nonetheless, I see no reason why she should disagree," Lisa added with a slight anger. "Since the beginning he didn't want to marry me."

"Well," Jisoo replies, "doesn't mean she likes everyone knowing you don't want her anymore."

"If she had time to think about this plan, she would be relieved to be able to release me from her responsibilities."

Jisoo shook her head. "I'm not so sure he wants you to get away from him. I saw the way he looked at Lord Yugyeom at church this afternoon, he didn't seem relieved, he looked very angry."

"She is indeed grumpy," Lisa replied in annoyance, recalling her conversation with Mingyu below. "He had no reason to be mad at me or Yugyeom."

"No reason?" jisoo repeated in disbelief. "You almost married another man!"

"But that doesn't mean he wants another man to marry you," Jisoo replied wisely. "Forget it. Divorce is not possible. There must be another way out. My husband will return from Scotland today" Jisoo said excitedly. "I'll ask Wonwoo for advice. He's very wise." Then his face suddenly became grim. "Unfortunately, she was also Mingyu's good friend, so her advice would have been a little overwhelming to side with the man. Even so," said the woman determinedly, "divorce cannot be considered at all. Got to find another way."

He was silent for a while, dissolved in his mind, his forehead wrinkled. "It's no wonder you immediately bent your knees on her feet" Jisoo said with an empathetic smile. "The trendiest dozen women in Britain are crazy about her" Jisoo continued. "But he never reciprocated their feelings, other than having once in a while an affair with one of them. Because now that he's back, it's natural that everyone hopes you'll get into his arms. Especially since the nobility, at this point, remember how drunk your lady was to him when you were just coming to town."

The fact that what Jisoo said was true made Lisa feel nauseous. While leaning his head on the sofa, he gulped and closed his eyes full of pain. "I never thought of that, but you're right."

"Of course I'm right" Jisoo agreed. "On the other hand," he explained, his eyes began to sparkle, "wouldn't it be more pleasant if what happened was the opposite!"

"What do you mean?"

"The most ideal solution to your problem is to make Mingyu fall in love with you. That way you can maintain your pride and your husband."

"Jisoo," said Lisa lethargic. "First of all, I don't think anyone can make that guy fall in love, because he doesn't have a heart. Second, even though he has a heart, his heart is already immune to me. Thirdly..."

Jisoo laughs then grabs Lisa's hand and pulls her off the sofa, taking her to the front of the mirror. Look in the mirror, Lisa. The woman who looked back at you is now in control of London! Men fight over you,"

Lisa sighed, looking at Jisoo's reflection in the mirror instead of her own. "Just because I became some kind of silly trend, like a wet rook. For now men consider themselves trendy if they fall in love with me."

"How fun," said Jisoo, looking happier than before. "Mingyu must have been very surprised to learn that."

A flash of amusedness shone in Lisa's eyes, but the light suddenly dimmed. "It's no use."

"Oh, yes there is!" Jisoo laughs. "Try thinking about this. For the first time in his life Mingyu had a rival. And that's for fighting over his wife! Think about what the nobles would respond to if they imagined the most famous playboy in England, trying to seduce and subjugate his own wife but to no avail."

"There's one more reason why the plan won't work" Lisa said.

"What's that?"

"I don't want to do it. Even though I might make it, and I can't, I don't want to try."

"But why?" cetus Jisoo's. "Why not?"

"Because," Lisa explained impassively, "i don't like her! I don't want her to fall in love with me, I don't even want her to get close to me." After saying that, he walked towards the pull of the bell to ask for tea.

"Despite that, it's the only way and the best solution to this complexity." While picking up her gloves and bag jisoo kissed Lisa's forehead. "You're shocked and still so tired that you can't think clearly. Leave everything to me."

The woman was already halfway across the room when Lisa realized Jisoo seemed to have a special plan in mind and the woman seemed to be in a hurry to leave.

"Where are you going, Jisooya?" tanyanya.

"Meeting Seungkwan," Jisoo replied as she turned her back on the doorstep. "He could be counted on to immediately perhaps convince Mingyu that you were no longer the innocent and inexperienced village rat he had thought you were. Seungkwan would really like to do it," jisoo ramal cheerfully. "He likes to provoke in this way."

"jisoo wait!" lisa exclaimed wearyly, but she did not really oppose Jisoo's plan, not at this time when exhaustion began to take hold of her. "Please promise me you won't do anything without telling me first."

"Alright," Jisoo lightly promised and then after waving her hand she disappeared.

Lisa rested her head and closed her eyes while drowsiness began to take hold of her.

The clock chimed ten times, followed by a voice announcing the inexhaustible arrival of the guests in the main hall of the lower floor, finally making Lisa completely awake. He rested his body on his elbow and opened his eyes in his dark bedroom illuminated by candlelight, surprised to see himself somehow falling asleep on the couch on this late night. He listened to the commotion downstairs, the sound of closing and opening the front door unceasingly, then he sat down and puzzledly wondered why all the upper classes seemed to appear at his door... Then he remembered.

Mingyu is back.

The proof is everyone thinks he is here, and they want to meet and talk to the man to show some manners, and that means they should at least wait until tomorrow to meet.

Mingyu must have expected this, Lisa concluded in annoyance, then got up and changed into a silk nightgown then climbed onto the bed. Perhaps that was why the man chose to spend the night in the grandmother's house, letting others face the invasion of the guests.

My husband, Lisa thought confidently, must be sleeping soundly in his bed and enjoying a quiet night.
