Lisa's estimation was both wrong, Mingyu was not sleeping and was not enjoying the night. The man was in the sitting room of his grandmother's town house with his legs extended forward and a flat expression with three of his friends who had come to greet his return. In the room there is also Seungkwan who seems to come to entertain him with 'funny' stories about Lisa's homecoming.
After listening to Seungkwan's story for nearly an hour, Mingyu was not at all irritated, or resentful, or distracted. He's pale. As he lay in a daze at night, worried that his beloved wife would go mad with sadness, she turned out to be the source of conversation in London. While she was in prison, tortured, and near death, Lisa weaved an open affair with nearly a dozen men. While lying in chains, Lisa wins a race on horse racing at Gresham Green, and also fight swords with other men while wearing tight men's pants that say people are very powerful distract his opponents so that even the most reliable swordsman loses. The woman went on an adventure in the night market and took part in an exploration with a priest in Southeby, whom Mingyu dared to swear, the priest was at least seventy years old. And that's only half of it!
If Seungkwan is to be believed, Yugyeom seems to get six dozen applications from men who want to harass Lisa, and her rejected admirers first do not accept, then get angry, then get angry, and eventually one of them tried to kidnap her. Then a young man has published a poem praising Lisa's beauty and is titled 'Ode to Lisa'. While a rose grower named his new rose variety 'Glorious Lisa'.
Sitting leaning against a chair, Mingyu crossed her long legs at the ankles, raised the wine glass to her lips, and listened to Seungkwan's story, saying, his face carefully only showed a slight tingle towards his wife's behavior.
He knew it was the reaction his three friends had expected, because among the nobles they both understood that husbands and wives were free to do whatever they wanted, he said, as long as they don't do it blatantly. On the other hand, among men who are close friends, it is common knowledge that a husband should be told by his best friend, in the most subtle way possible, that a husband should be told, if his wife's behavior almost crosses the line of reasonableness and can humiliate him. Mingyu was suspicious, which was why his friends did not try to silence Seungkwan tonight.
If Seungkwan did not come along with his friends Mingyu, the man would not be allowed to enter the house. To Mingyu, the man was merely a distant acquaintance and an annoying gossip spreader, but the other three men in the room were Mingyu's friends. And although they several times forced Seungkwan to talk about other things besides Lisa's behavior but from their flat expression it seemed clear that what Seungkwan said was mostly true.
Mingyu glanced at Seungkwan, asking inwardly why the man would bother to come here to quickly tell him all of this. All the upper classes knew Mingyu never considered women more than pleasant bed warmers. He's the last man in the world who they think can lose their mind because of a beautiful woman and a beautiful body. They would be surprised to know that she had lost her mind because of the attractive little dark-haired woman and the events took place long before she showed any signs of becoming a beautiful woman amazing as today.
The four men in the sitting room would also be stunned to know Mingyu was actually listening to Seungkwan's ravings seriously and his blood was boiling. He is furious with Yugyeom for letting Lisa get out of bounds and angry with his grandmother for not controlling the woman. Apparently, Lisa's standing as young Madame Kim allows the woman to do whatever she wants without punishment. Mingyu could not change the past, however, he could drastically change the future of the woman. But, it was not Lisa's behavior that made her very angry, and not her affair.
Although it was absurd, the thing that made her so angry was the fact they called her 'Lisa'.
Everyone called her Lisa. All the noble population seemed to be very familiar with his wife, especially the male population.
Mingyu glanced at the maid standing in the doorway and subtly shook her head, signaling that she did not need to refill her guest glasses. He waited until Seungkwan paused to catch his breath, then lyingly said firmly, "I know you will forgive us, Seungkwan. But me and these gentlemen want to discuss business."
Seungkwan nodded kindly then stood up to leave, but before leaving the man threw one last prick, "I'm glad you're back among us, Hawk. Nonetheless, pity Yugyeom. He's crazy about Lisa, like almost every single guy in London..."
"Including you?" Mingyu guessed coldly.
When Seungkwan was gone, the two Mingyu friends also stood about to go home, looking guilty and careless. Lord Jeon, looking around looking for something to say that could melt the tension, finally he chose the topic of horse racing, a horse racing event that would last for two days, he said, at that time usually all the nobles would participate or attend.
"Are you going to ride your black stallion at the horse race in September, Hawk?" ask her friend who has brown eyes.
"I will ride one of my horses" Mingyu replied, at the same time trying to control his anger towards Seungkwan as well as recalling how much fun it was to race in one of the most important horse races of the year.
"I knew you'd ride it. I'd risk my money on you, if you'd decided to ride on that dark horse."
"Are you coming?" mingyu asked not interested.
"of course. But if you ride that dark horse, I'll bet on you, not on me. The horse is the fastest demon I've ever seen."
Mingyu's brows furrowed in confusion. Satan, the most valuable young dark horse on his farm, was an unruly and unpredictable three-year-old horse when Mingyu was attracted to him two years ago. "Have you ever seen that dark horse run?"
"Sure! Seeing your wife spur him in." His sentence was suddenly interrupted by misbehavior and knew when he saw Mingyu's jaw harden unhappily.
"He. uh. controlled the horse quite well and did not put too much pressure on it, Mingyu," Vernon explained desperately when he saw Mingyu's reaction.
"I'm sure your wife is just full of vigor, Hawk." Vernon added in an unconvincing tone while patting Mingyu on the shoulder.
Lord Chwe immediately nodded. "Full spirit, that's all. Tighten the reins a little, then he'll be tame like a sheep."
"Didnuts like sheep!" support Vernon in a hurry.
