The Arcane Archer's

The Arcane Archer's
A QUESTionable Antic

A few miles from the cave I was staying in, I was currently on top of a tree hiding. Below me, there are currently two deer moving in a circle.

From the looks of it, they would probably soon be fighting to find out who was stronger or something like that. I keep watching, not moving, all the time.

About six seconds passed before the first deer attacked the others with its horns tilted downwards. Others saw that the match finally started to merge and rushed towards the others.

They met shortly after and clashed their horns trying to prove who had greater power.

I saw my chances.

I fired a single ordinary arrow at the first deer that invaded and pulled the others as quickly as possible. As soon as the first hit, I shot another arrow.

The first arrow hit the deer directly on the side and did stab damage because it was a sneak attack. But the second arrow was seen by another deer when he saw his enemy hit and was looking for something dangerous.

So as soon as he saw it, it started to run away. Fortunately enough, it hit his leg and it took 24 stab damage.

The first deer at this moment now got up and started running. Before it could go far, I released another arrow, this time one of the special ones.

The shot was not as good as the first but still hit the deer. Since this is one of my special arrows, it did some additional damage and a total of 39 total damage. The deer just died, either from blood loss or mana penetrating his body, I don't know.

[You have killed {Woodland Deer} and earned 8 Xp and 4 System Points!]

At this point, a second deer was in the distance still trying to escape. I fell to the ground and almost fell face down first.

* 6 Damage

[You have obtained {Slight Fall Resistance} thanks to your {Adaptability}!]

"Yes, I know the system, got sick and I shouldn't have done it."

I got up as fast as I could and kept the first deer in my inventory, then started running for the others. As soon as my foot left the ground, a small message appeared on my HUD.

[Quest: Chasing a deer and killing it.

Gifts: Camping Equipment

Do you accept? Y/T]

Mentally I pressed ya while continuing to run after the deer.

When I started running after that, I was exhausted within a few minutes but luckily could see the deer stopping a few meters from there. I slowed my run and hid behind a tree before he saw me.

[You've got +2 Constitution thanks to your {Adaptability}!]

I pushed that message because I didn't really care and focused entirely on killing this deer. I continued walking towards the deer very quickly and made sure to start preparing my bow.

About 100 feet away, I finally stopped and got into shooting position.

"{Mana Mark}" I whispered

A faint purplish light appeared on my arrow before it quickly disappeared.

[{Mana Mark} has levelled up, the range is now 30 feet.]

'Damn, it is necessary to increase this to make it useful. Forget about range! '

I tried to sneak forward but accidentally stepped on something and warned the deer. It turned towards me and seeing this I shot my arrow.

As it moved forward a few meters, the deer kicked the ground and started running.

Using my connection to my arrow, I tried to move it even though it was already out of my 30 foot range.

[Thank you deployed mana further then you can control, {Mana Mark} and {Mana Manipulation} have leveled up because {Adaptability}. Range for {Mana Mark} now 45 feet.]

Unfortunately, this did not help as it was still out of my reach. I put a bow on my back and started running after the deer.

I chased him a little but was still tired from my previous run so the two extra constitutional points didn't really help.

Finally after a few more minutes, the deer finally stopped in the distance. At this point, I was panting and had stitches on my side.

[You have got +5 Constitution thanks to your {Adaptability}!]

'I know that I am not worthy! Stop reminding me! '

I kept using one minute to catch my breath while watching the deer and making sure it wasn't running.

"Fucking mutations make me weak and tired easily. At least my adaptation wish is useful and fixed." I murmured softly

With one last big breath, I descended and began to sneak again. This time, I made sure to avoid sticks and dry leaves that could make noise if stepped on.

[{Sneak} has raised levels through constant use. Your footstep now slightly avoids things that make noise automatically.]

'Finally! Something useful! '

I went on a journey and now only occasionally check where I stepped. Luckily I did it because a few times I didn't see, I almost stepped on something.

As I got closer and closer, I ended up being within 45 feet and pulled my bow.

"I finally caught you, ********!"

I prepared my arrow, marked it, and then let it fly.

Whatever the reason, the deer seemed to notice me again and tried to escape. But it is still within my reach.

With my connection to the arrow through my sign, I made it sharply to where the deer ran. The arrow hit the deer on the other leg and nested there.

* 40 Magic and Damage Piercing!

The deer then falls forward and slides forward briefly. He tried to get back up and ran forward to get away from me but could not.

I prepared an ordinary arrow and pointed it at the deer.

"Sorry, little one ..."

and release.

2 and a half hours later

"FUCK FINALLY! I DON'T HAVE TO LEFT MY BASE WITHOUT MAKING INDICATORS ANYWHERE!"

* Sighing in *

"At least I'm back now."

I started walking into the cave when I finally noticed some messages from the system that I had not noticed

[You have given 31 piercing damage to {Woodland Deer} and have earned 9 System Points along with 7 Xp from killing it.]

[Congratulations, you level up!]

[You have completed your quest to hunt down the fleeing deer. You have been rewarded with a standard set of camping equipment. They are stored in your inventory.]

I started digging up a lot of equipment and other items and threw them into my cave.

At the very bottom of the bag, a very small blue cube with a button hides in its corner. Pulling it out, I turned it around trying to find what the indicator was and behind it was written "Portal Tent to go!"

While pushing the bag, I walked a little more into the cave and pressed the button. It began to rapidly develop into a 1-person sized tent.

I nodded my head in satisfaction and returned to all the other equipment. Grabbing one of the knives I threw to the side, I pulled the deer out of my inventory and started cutting it and removing its fur.

Since I had never done this before, blood was everywhere, everything was cut horribly and barely even recognizable. After an hour and a half, I finally finished, and only grimaced in disdain at all my work.

[You have acquired the skill {Dismantling} by trying to skin a deer. You're a little better at it now.]

Using my inventory, I tried to keep all the blood in it to see if it would serve as a quick cleaning service. Thankfully it worked and it cleared up most of the mess.

I then moved to an open area in the cave and started working on the fire.

Sit down and take a frying pan from the side of the cave. I throw everything, I start cooking and make myself the first real meal in this world ....
