"Charlina Krystilian..."

He came back to me when I called him and hung up my words

I drew my lips closer, made a cunning arch to his ear, and whispered one word that was the end of everything for him.

"...checkmate."

The flashback

The blonde girl stopped walking when she reached the gate of her residence.

He was looking for the author of the letter he had received a moment ago. When he looked to the left, there was a figure who was standing earlier while leaning against the wall of the fence.

"Yes."

The green benetra girl who was often called Anastasia immediately showed a surprised look on her face.

"Cassandra?! What are you doing in si-umph!"

"Your voice is great," cut the brown-brown girl to silence Anastasia's lips.

"So you sent this letter?" Anastasia handed him a piece of the letter she had received.

"Yes, that's right."

"What did you actually ask for help? Until I have to send this letter," he said with a twitch in his eyebrows.

Ana.

I need your help.

Can you go to your doorstep now?

It's very important.

"I need your help. Because I'm going to get an antidote for the poison that's inside Ar-m-I mean Lord Arlen" Cassandra explained.

Sontak Anastasia was shocked, when she heard this girl before her saying that. "really? You know where to get it?" Anastasia was enthusiastic with a hopeful look.

"Yes, so come with me. We're going to Baron Krystillian's residence right now."

"Baron Krystillian? What are we going there for?"

Cassandra smiled meaningfully. "I'll explain later, okay?"

Anastasia seemed to understand Cassandra's situation and did not want to trouble the girl further. After all, he's here to be asked to help his best friend instead of complicating it.

Therefore, he also nodded in understanding. Then they boarded the chariot which was imprinted before them.

"What?! Miss Charlina was the one who shot Arlen? You serious?!" anastasia shouted uncontrollably inside the narrow horse carriage.

"Calm down, Ana," rowdy Cassandra closed both ear holes.

"How can I calm down?! Arlen is shot by an arrow coated with poison, and it turns out the culprit is Miss Charlina!" the cerocos.

They were on their way to their destination, and they had been sitting long enough in those very hard chariots.

"But how did you know that the culprit was Miss Charlina?" anastasia asked, she calmed down.

"Actually ever since that match, I've always felt weird when Miss Charlina kept looking at me cynically. And I also felt awkward when Miss Charlina was suddenly in the middle of the forest when we were hunting deer at that time" said Cassandra.

Anastasia furrowed her brows while thinking. "It makes sense too."

"Then, I took the arrow that almost hit me. And fortunately, at that time, I saw that there were actually three arrows shot toward Lord Arlen."

"really? I didn't even notice. You're very observant" praised the blonde girl.

"so. Then I took two arrows. And did you know? I got something unexpected hidden in that arrow."

"What's that?"

"It turns out that the two arrows that shot Lord Arlen had the same shape and carving as the arrows fired by Miss Charlina that almost hit me" Cassandra continued.

Anastasia was unceasingly shocked by the truth that hit her. He did not think it turned out that his best friend this one could find the perpetrator who until now still tracked his existence. It only takes one day.

"I read that there was an antidote for the poison. And I also heard that Miss Charlina is very good at managing foreign medicines. Therefore I wish I could get the antidote from her" Cassandra said with a straight forward look.

"But... Cassandra. If you've estimated everything, why would you even want to take me to help you? Aren't I just gonna trouble you?" throw Anastasia in a slow tone.

He felt that he was just going to be a burden. Even her long-time friend Arlen could do nothing at this moment. But Cassandra, who has only known the man for a few days, has made it this far.

He feels useless.

"What did you say? It's precisely the reason I brought you in because I needed you so much" Cassandra replied.

"If I just come then corner Miss Charlina, what's the benefit of all that? Even if I have the arrow, but I can still prove that it belongs to Miss Charlina, right?" the bright girl who had the lips of an apple was staring inside Anastasia.

Anastasia was silent. The girl still doubted herself.

"Therefore I need you. You are my proof. We can both prove that Miss Charlina was the guilty one. And also, if anything happens to me, you can protect me."

"Trust yourself, Anastasia. You're more useful than you think," Cassandra added, making a sweet curvature on her lips. "After all not as friends should share and help each other?"

After a long period of hesitation, the doll-faced girl breathed a very long breath with her eyelids closed.

He folded his lips, then a smile of confidence was etched. With a bead filled with a burning spirit that had been restrained, he said.

"All right."

Cassandra smiled at him.

"But how can we get the antidote? And why are you bringing so many of these horrible men?"

Suddenly Cassandra's sincere smile changed with a slanted smile that smirked. With a terrible look.

"I've planned everything."

Cassandra Pov's

"Miss Charlina, you have lost," I said straightforwardly as I raised her chin with my index finger.

He looked still in disbelief with the domineering vexation. Anastasia was still in her position, keeping this girl before me from moving from her place.

"How can... how can Lady Emerald be here? My house is filled with guards. My room is also locked and high, how did he get in?!" his screams were desperate.

Then, I stood up again while walking slowly around every corner of his room.

"Miss Charlina, you think I came here without any preparation and backup? You think I'm that stupid to expose your crimes directly in front of you?" my ketus.

Then the laughter came back out of my mouth. "Oh yeah, you want to know how Lady Emerald got in here? I'll explain."

He was silent as if he was letting me talk. Well if he wants to.

"Don't you find it strange why I'm so pushy about talking in your room? That's because I've learned that you're not in your room. And you want to know how? It's because I've hired a spy to infiltrate your residence."

"Whatchu mean? There can't be a spy who made it into my house" she insisted.

"A noble? What-what-"

He was unable to continue his sentence anymore. It seems like he has already realized who I mean.

"Yes. Thas right. Before me, there were other nobles who visited you, right?"

"Damn you...! It turns out you were the one who had Lady Floniouse visit me!"

I could only look at him as if I knew nothing. "It's your fault for not being on guard," I said raising my shoulders.

"You wanna know how Lady Emerald got in?" ask me with the index finger I put on my chin.

"When your guards brought me in, that's when Lady Emerald and my men stormed your residence in secret. All your guards were unceremoniously finished off in silence" I explained.

He clucked, it was certain that his frustration had reached the crown.

"Through the window, Lady Emerald climbed up and entered your room aided by my men."

"I deliberately discussed the carving on the door of your room," I said then approached the door of this room. "Because I want to make sure whether or not you realize that there's a Lady Emerald behind it."

My feet stepped back with my lips unceasingly letting out word for word. "And I purposely let you sit in a chair that turns your back to the door, lest you realize that at the right moment Lady Emerald will close it."

"Woman bitch!!!"

I can only turn my ball around lazily. A bitch said?

"When you are only a level higher than me, your life is very different from mine!" his screams.

"You have the support of a Duke's son, you have the support of a Count's daughter, and you're always even with Frostend!! Why is your life so good?! Why?!"

Anastasia and I could only keep quiet while throwing a glance. But wait, he just said Frostend? Since when did he become that familiar with Frost to immediately call out his first name?

"You've always been close to Frost without trying. As for me, who had always helped her secretly, never once could speak to her!"

Apparently so. All again because of love.

"Why is life always unfair?! Why was I born only from the lowest noble family?! If only I had a high degree, then Frostend would definitely like me!"

Why is life unfair?! You think love is worth comparing to just high status and titles?

I hate people who can only whine when fate is unfair to them.

Immediately I walked quickly towards him. I pulled her collar hard and directly slapped her cheek.

"You think you're the only one who's had an unfair destiny?! You think you're the only human being who suffers the most from destiny?! You really make me sick!!!"

He staggered and fell to the floor with his faithful palm holding his red cheek from me.

I could see Anastasia was surprised and a little scared to see me. But I ignored him, because these emotions had taken hold of me and controlled me.

"You think destiny will side with you at all times?! You think just by whining your destiny will instantly change?!"

Shit...! Calm yourself, Cassandra. A little more you'll reach your goal of doing all this.

Just think of him suffering, you can't make him wait too long.

I took a deep breath with my palm that I clenched tightly to quell my emotions. After a while, I was finally able to calm down.

"I don't want to linger, Miss Charlina. Because of your stupidity, someone's life is in danger" I said. "I know you were actually going to shoot me that day, right? Therefore, take responsibility for your actions. Give me the antidote" I command.

He seemed worried about making me breathe. "You just calm down. I'm not going to tell anyone this, so give me the antidote."

This girl raised her head when she heard my words.

"What are you saying, Cassandra?! Of course we have to report him for his evil deeds!" anastasia's protest did not accept my proposal.

"Anastasia," called me while looking at her. "Our goal here is to save Arlen, isn't it?" my question and he looked jolted.

Anastasia turned her eyes away with her lips folded.

"After all, doesn't everyone deserve a second chance?" I said and he just kept quiet.

"You're even sorry now aren't you, Miss Charlina?" I looked at the girl sitting on this floor.

Before long, he immediately shed tears and cried bitterly followed by a sobbing.

I can see Anastasia sighing softly and then smiling gently at me.

I went back to this girl in grief. Then crouching to match my height with her.

"It's not wrong to love someone else. However, you don't have to hurt others for the sake of your love."

...~•~...

Hah.. finally finished too. My voice became hoarse as a result of talking a lot earlier.

Miss Charlina has given us the antidote, and she has even apologized to us.

Right now, we're on our way to Arlen's residence. Because we did not want to waste time and immediately gave this antidote to him so that the man could escape the suffocating suffering.

"You're too good, Cassandra," Anastasia said, looking at me with annoyance.

I could only smile to find him sulking at me. "What?"

"Everyone deserves a second chance. But everyone must also get the right compensation for their actions" he explained.

"That's it. After all it's all done now, even Miss Charlina has apologized, hasn't she?"

"Yes I know that, but.... Aish, you're too good!" hugging me from the side made me chuckle.

She's so cute.

"Hey, Cassandra. Do you have a problem?" his tanyanya confused me.

"meaning?"

"You look so angry when Miss Charlina says of a cruel fate. The look in your eyes, as if to show that you've been through it all," he said a little hesitantly.

Is it that clear?

"That's because I'm just upset. It's not something serious" I say.

"really? But if you have a problem, you can tell me. I'll try to help you as much as I can" he added sincerely.

The curvature of the smile was imprinted just like that on my face. "Thank you."

After that, you talk about many things, until you do not realize that we have arrived.

I also thrust the antidote at Anastasia who was about to go down. Suddenly, he looked at me confused.

"What is this, Cassandra?"

"You better give it to Lord Arlen" I said with a smile.

"But why? Aren't you the one trying to get it? You should have given it to Arlen so that he could thank you" she protested.

"That's it, you're the one who gave it. After all, weren't you Lord Arlen's childhood best friend? If I were to give, it would definitely be awkward. So just give it to her, okay?" my door.

Anastasia disagreed. But seeing me who is calm, makes the woman resigned.

"alright. Then I'll go inside. You should be careful when you get home!" his sweat.

"All right, all right." I chuckled then waved my hand and this horse started walking towards my residence.

When I was alone, my tears just spilled. I've been holding him back since, because I don't want anyone else to see my weak side.

Fortunately, I was able to save him. If not, I don't know what else to do.

To think of him suffering and possibly losing his life, made my heart feel like it was being squeezed hard.

Thank goodness I was able to save her.
