Ch. 4 - Unwelcomed Returns
Everyone looked at Ling Chen with a complex look. The mother of Ling Chen was so, she looked astonished, but then she remembered that her son had just finished fighting, The mother was sure that Ling Chen had lost his memory because he might have been knocked.
Ling's mother then spoke to her troops to cancel her departure, because, the reason for her departure was also to see Ling Chen's corpse and then bury her properly, but when he saw Ling Chen's figure now in front of him, he no longer had any reason to leave. Ling's mother then invited him to her residence.
Upon arriving at the Gronth family home, Ling Chen saw the cynical gazes of all sorts of people, from the younger ones from him to the older ones from him. Ling Chen did not know why they were looking at him like that but Ling Chen realized it was a dislike gaze from all of them. Ling Chen then thought maybe his return was not welcomed by all of them.
"Ling'er, introduce, they're all your brothers. Let me introduce them one by one." The mother smiled sincerely.
The Ling brothers who heard her were astonished by the mother's words.Why did the mother say introduce? wasn't the figure in front of them Ling? Then one of Ling's brothers came forward and asked him.
"Mother, what do you mean about introducing?" One of the brothers came forward and asked.
The mother then began to introduce the male figure to Ling before replying.
"Ling'er, let's introduce you, he's Gronth Martin, your fourth brother." The mother introduced her before telling Martin that Ling had memory loss.
Martin nodded which meant that he understood more or less the meaning of his mother's words. Then Martin walked up to the other brothers and whispered something to them all.
After Martin whispered, the looks of all of them now smiling kindly towards Ling Chen, Ling Chen of course realized it was a fake smile. But Ling Chen then smiled back so that all of them did not realize that he was aware of it.
The mother then took Ling Chen to Ling's room and sister's room. Less than an hour after walking around, Ling Chen had memorized enough of the place where his new residence was.
Lastly, the mother took Ling Chen to see her father in her study. Before entering his father's workplace, Ling Chen saw a sizable door with six heavily armed troops standing across from each other. Ling Chen was pretty sure they were special forces who obtained the order to protect the leader of this residence.
The mother brought Ling with no problems, the soldiers even saluted and opened the door. Arriving inside, a man wearing noble clothes was sitting in his work chair.
The man glanced at the open door after he realized it was closed and saw two people entering his room.
"Alice, why are you here?" Ask the man.
Alice was none other than Ling's mother's name. Alice made a pouting face as the man still asked.
"Can't you recognize our son anymore? look, Ling was alive after the battle to defend the wall." Alice smiled happily. He actually still did not believe that Ling could survive the War, according to him, it was a miracle.
The man's name is Shoto. He is Sai's father and Alice's husband. Shoto was surprised when he heard Alice's words, he then saw Ling who had glanced all over the room. Ling looked like the person who had just left this place for the first time.
This makes Shoto suspect the child called Ling. As if knowing what her husband was thinking, Alice immediately informed Ling of her condition.
"Sadly he seems to have lost his memory. Ouh, yes, the real Ling must have a Root mark on his shoulder." Alice again remembered Ling's birthmark.she then undressed Ling's back to look at the birthmark.
"Alright, I want to see what he'll do once his identity is exposed. How dare he pretend to be my favorite son." Inner Shoto. Shoto suspects Ling Chen is the one who disguised himself to be his son in order to obtain an abundant life of all sufficiency.
But Shoto did not see Ling Chen's terrified look, usually they would be so scared that they would even break down in not wanting to be known. But Ling Chen looked calm even he showed a smile on his face.
