Episode 31 [About Eugene]

"Eugene, are you a vampire?"

The little Eugene who was caught at that moment was biting the hand of a fainted girl looked at Yula behind her with a surprised look.

Eugene's lips were already dominated with a blood red color, his hands grasping the hands of a child his age who had fainted with weak breaths. Caught wet while drinking human blood, Eugene could not think of what reason he had to give Yula at that time.

"T..sir Yula—I can explain!—"

He immediately released the hand of the girl he bit. Eugene's eyes displayed a fear of what Yula's reaction was showing him.

Just before Eugene spoke again, Yula approached him. Yula always carried a dagger, for what it was but Eugene knew right now that Yula was lifting her dagger towards him.

Eugene's eyes were tightly closed, unwilling to see what would happen next. He was resigned if he had to be killed by Yula, the young master who had always played with him.

Eugene opened his eyes slowly. He heard the sound of a dagger being stuck several times, but strangely did not feel any pain.

Did Yula's dagger miss? That's what he thinks.

However, what Eugene saw was different from what he thought. His eyes widened when he saw Yula who was crouching next to him while slashing the girl casually.

Make some cuts similar to bear scratches.

"A—what are you doing!?"

Eugene's voice shook. Can't believe what he saw.

Eugene deliberately did not hurt him in the vital area, so the child must still be alive again. But Yula messes with Eugene's actions by stabbing the boy to death.

Yula turned her head, looking at Eugene who was now trembling in fear. A thin smile was imprinted on Yula's face that had blood spots, making little Eugene goosebumps made.

"I'm cleaning this thing for you. You'll have to pay me later for helping you hide your identity as a vampire"

Yula spoke with great emphasis. The blood on the dagger he was holding supported the sinister aura from him that was small in stature. Eugene subconsciously nodded, approving of Yula's words that he did not want to answer.

A small smile was again seen on Yula's face. This time his smile looked normal.

Yula's gaze turned, staring at the corpse of the girl lying in front of him.

"We told her parents and the villagers that she died under a bear attack. Quickly tear your shirt, I will also hurt my hand to convince the situation"

Yula gave her dagger towards Eugene after he injured his own hand. Eugene stared doubtfully, seemingly afraid that he would be caught by the villagers.

What if her mother finds out?

Eugene's mother was a normal human being. She's not even his real mother.

Eve, Eugene's adoptive mother who picked him up three years ago is a woman with soft words. Although he liked to talk rudely but he treated Eugene well, very different from the humans Eugene had met before.

Eve doesn't know Eugene's real identity. All this time he did not suspect the color of Eugene's eyes because the figure of the man who loves Eve also has the same neutrality. Of course it's the same. The man who loves Eve also has vampire blood like Eugene, unfortunately for the man he has returned to the sky first for saving Eve from an avalanche two years ago.

All this time the only one who knew his identity as a vampire was that uncle, and now Yula also knew about it.

What expression would Eve give Eugene when she knew the son she was caring for was a vampire? Even now he killed an innocent daughter and engineered her death.

"Eun!!"

A familiar and gentle call came when a 25-year-old woman ran to tightly hug Eugene's tattered body and had blood spots. After being attacked by a forest bear.

"How did you get into that forest!? I told you not to go there alone, I'm worried you know!!"

Eve's hand shook. She is afraid of losing the person she loves again while Eugene cries in her arms.

["If you want me to turn a blind eye to your identity then you have to pay me later, for now live normally. But, when I need you, you have to do what I ask. That's what you should do if you don't want to see your mom staring hatefully at you for knowing you're a vampire"]

Eugene planted deeply in Yula's words that had a point. From that day on, Eugene's greatest secret is held by Yula. Whether or not the secret is revealed depends on what Yula asks later.

Eugene hugged his mother tightly, sipping on the mother's soothing scent while crying.

The girl was reportedly attacked by a bear by Yula. Everyone believed that because Yula said it.

"Which spoke was young master Yula, so he must not have lied"

Having the status of being the son of the landlord made Yula have absolute trust. Whatever he thinks is wrong is wrong and what he thinks is right means right. All the citizens already knew that, so they immediately believed when Yula talked about the death of one of the daughters of the citizens dead attacked by a forest bear.

There's no suspicion, or maybe they don't want to be suspicious.

Suspecting the landlord's son would only get them in trouble.

And people don't want to get caught up in trouble. They therefore received only Yula's utterances, without any objection or question.

"That prince, he's hindering my cause"

Eugene Yula is a difficult person to guess.

He was currently standing behind Yula who was staring at the office window of the OASIS organization. His gaze looks straight as if staring far ahead, I don't know what he thinks with his 'psychopath' brain.

Eugene realizes his village friend is not right, especially he looks like he wants to plan something with a younger classmate who lately often approached him.

Sighing in a short breath Eugene ventured to ask. Just staying there won't give him an answer, at least Yula will tell him what Eugene should do— just like the past.

"What do you want to do?"

The short question he answered. Yula turned her body around, looking at Eugene with her blind eyes that turned sharp. Though Eugene remembered very well when he was a child, Yula did not have this kind of appearance.

His gaze was different too. Although the suppressing air was still attached to his body but Eugene was sure there was something different with Yula.

Since a few years ago his appearance changed, like he was someone else.

'But me she still feels like the old Yula'

Not arrogant. But as a half vampire Eugene could also see the aura of one's body and the aura of Yula's body was still the same as it was ten years ago.

It means he's not a different person.

"I want you to kill him"

Flinched while the mind was still floating, Eugene looked at Yula with a look of disbelief.

"But I—"

"You have to pay your debt, right?"

Tacit. Yula's words successfully made Eugene freeze on the spot.

Right, this was the reason Yula brought poor Eugene to the academy with her three years ago.

Eugene still has a debt to Yula and he has not paid it yet. If she doesn't pay her debt, Yula will tell Eugene's mother that her son is a vampire.

And Eugene doesn't want that to happen until it happens.

But he won't kill. Let alone killing the crown prince who would become a king in the future.

His family may be punished. Then the mother must have been affected as well.

Yula who noticed Eugene's uneasiness approached him slowly. He touched Eugene's two shoulders, stressing his strength so that Eugene could meet him.

"The prince will kill you too. As a member of the royal family he will eradicate anything concerned with demons and darkness, including vampires who are famous for being the beginning of the emergence of demons"

"But he doesn't know I—"

"He knows"

Eugene widened his eyes in surprise at Yula's words.

"What?"

"He knows you're a vampire"

"What are you that—"

"I didn't tell him,"

Eugene was surprised. He thought Yula was the one who leaked her secret to Luis so he asked the prince to join the organization.

But Luis didn't know it through Yula.

"Why then?"

Yula flicked her shoulders indifferently. He released the clutch of his hand on Eugene's shoulder, then took a step back.

It looked at Eugene's panicked face, as if he was enjoying the emotions Eugene had now.

"He knows you're a vampire. Since he's a member of the royal family then he'll definitely kill you once he finds evidence that you're a vampire,"

Yula turned around, walking towards her desk in the organization room that was in front of the large glass. Yula looked at Eugene, letting herself turn her back against the reddish-orange twilight light making her sharp gaze even more intimidating.

"Kill him if you don't make it then I'll tell your mother the secret you've been hiding. Not only that, you know I can do worse?"

Nodding briefly Eugene accepted the request. He will kill Luis for the safety of his secret held by Yula and the safety of his beloved mother.

Yula smiled with satisfaction. A small grin appeared on his face.

"We do as we used to."

Yula approached Eugene. He patted Eugene's right shoulder while whispering to him.

"When the prince dies I'm going to fabricate his death so you and your mother are not punished."

Yula paused her speech for a moment. He walked slowly, approached the exit and left Eugene still in his place.

He turned around, looked at Eugene for a moment then continued his words.

"Just like when you killed the girl you drank her blood on ten years ago, I will help you this time. There's a reason why I asked you to be the second strongest after me, Eugene"

Right after Yula said that she left. Closing the doors of the organization tightly left Eugene with his own troubled mind.

He doesn't want to kill anymore, but he doesn't want his secret exposed.  If killing Luis could keep his mother's secrets and warmth safe, Eugene would.

There is nothing more precious to her than her dear human mother. He would do anything to protect the light, even if it were necessary to kill the crown prince Eugene would.
