AUTHOR POV
"That's Decs, forget about it. Better focus on my family's gathering later!" Daphne tried to divert their overly serious talk earlier.
"At this time our status is a couple of lovers. As much as possible we should show public display affection in front of my brothers. Because of what I heard, William also came." he continued.
Declan narrowed his eyes as he tapped at the edge of the handlebar, "William is coming?"
Daphne sighed and massaged her slightly throbbing temple plan. "He must have been invited, Decs. It's impossible if William doesn't come. That man will be betrothed to me. Automatically Grandpa and Grandma have set up a strategy so that she can stick to me. That's why, I'm asking you not to stay away from me at the show!"
"Hmm.." Declan said with deheman.
"Oh yes one more Decs! There, all your behavior will be carefully observed by my entire extended family. From the start how to walk, stature, table manners, even you will be interviewed about work, skills or other things that you master." said Daphne at length.
"Good God, it's so complicated!" declan protest.
"That's how they are! At least I warned you first. And for that, I should also know about the ins and outs of your life at a glance."
Declan glanced at Daphne again, "I mean?"
"Yes like for example, what are your favorite foods and drinks, what are your hobbies, what date you were born, where you live, and so on." Daphne's getting chatty.
"It has to be Daph?" Declan seemed to disagree.
"It was Decs! We're in a relationship, remember? If I don't know anything about you, then my family could be suspicious. Especially Papi and my brother Darius. They are very observant and careful in reading our body language."
Declan so begins to think that it seems like her decision to pretend to date Daphne is a bad plan.
"I'm starting to yes the question. First, what's your date of birth?" ask Daphne.
Although lazy Declan still replied because Daphne's speech sounded reasonable as well. "12 January 1990."
Daphne seemed to think for a moment. "Hmm. means you're 30 years old, right?"
"Yes." replied Declan briefly.
"You're born in January, is that your zodiac sign Capricorn?"
"The zodiac is asked?" Declan looked at Daphne in surprise.
"Yes, why is it?"
Declan could only shake his head. He thinks Daphne is starting to look overdone.
"Third question. Where were you born and raised?" ask Daphne again.
"London. My parents are both from England, and most of my life has been spent there."
In fact, Daddy Wyatt and Mommy Irene both have British citizenship. Both of them just moved to America about 3 years ago with the aim to develop Parker Group's business in the country of Uncle Sam.
"Interest." Daphne turned to Declan with a grin. "What was your last education?"
"University." Declan said quickly.
"Wow, impressive! Where are you college? Take what major? And what title do you have?" Daphne is interested in asking further questions.
"I went to Cambridge, majoring in Business Management. My degree has two, a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration. Because I finished university education until S2." discussing education, deliberately nothing covered by Declan. Because according to him it is a proud and also common achievement.
In addition, Declan's educational history became the only thing he could sell to the Daphne family. At the very least, they would not look at him too much with low gazes.
"Wow.sama is like me! I got a BA, majoring in communications. But only up to S1 anyway!" timpal Daphne's.
"Decs, you..."
As if understanding what Daphne wanted to ask, Declan interrupted immediately, "I'm full of scholarships, if that's what you want to ask." This is also a fact.
Declan didn't use Parker's last name frills or use the help of his Daddy to get in there. He's purely passed the selection test.
"Ahh I see.means you're very smart yes Decs!" Daphne forgot that every college offers a scholarship program.
"Oh yes Decs, your job is it just a waitress at the wedding? Don't you have any other odd jobs?" said Daphne while sipping a glass of coffee that he had bought earlier.
Declan explained, "My work is not fixed. I'm a freelance freelancer who can freely work anywhere with a short contract. I used to be an ordinary office clerk in marketing."
"Where's your office?"
"In London. After 4 months of working there, I decided to resign because it did not match the rhythm of the company's work. Finally I wandered here, to New York to find another job" replied Declan who was increasingly free-making.
"Don't I want to underestimate your current profession Decs, but why don't you apply for a better job? Considering the educational history you have is pretty good."
Think Daphne, Declan could have applied to other big companies in New York. Daphne believes Declan can get a better job position because the curriculum vitae is not bad.
"When I first got to New York, only that job was available. I don't want to have to accept it to survive here. I'm a Daph immigrant, I've only been in the US for 3 months." Declan's perfectly fine if told to lie. And amazingly, a plain woman like Daphne can eat her shit.
"Ohh so it seems..." Daphne nodded in understanding.
Honestly, Daphne began to feel amazed by all Declan achievement. The man wasn't so bad apparently. Although the Daphne family is clearly unlikely to approve of their relationship, there is at least something interesting in Declan to be proud of.
"Eighth question," Daphne did calculate the total of the questions asked by him earlier. "What's your favorite food and drink?"
"Beef Wellington and kebabs. To drink it I love everything that smells with fruits like smoothies and juices. Especially apple juice, I like it the most. I don't like tea and coffee very much. That you?" Declan asked back.
"I don't have a specific favorite food because I basically like all foods, except seafood! I often itch if I eat food made from sea fish. Especially crabs and shrimp! " Daphne sounds so passionate when it comes to storytelling.
"Too bad, even though seafood is very delicious." for Declan, people who can't eat seafood are losers.
"How else, I can't consume it. If it's a drink, I don't actually like sweet. My favorite is mineral water." Daphne then lifted her cup of coffee, "This is all I bought to relieve my drowsiness. If it wasn't urgent, I wouldn't have bought it. It's too sweet."
Daphne is not a morning person. He always had trouble getting up in the morning. Since he had an appointment with Declan, he had to wait in the park early in the morning. Unfortunately the waiting came too late, very annoying.
"Your hobby is Decs? What activities do you often do in your spare time?"
Pretty trap question. If Declan answers that he likes riding, polo, golf and tennis, then Daphne will be suspicious. Because all four are included in the category of elite sports that are identical done by people from the upper class.
"I love to swim and play chess." retorts Declan with a general answer. He also likes to do these two activities, although not too often. "You're Daph yourself??"
"I love to paint and dance ballet." a happy twinkle is clearly visible in Daphne's pupils when she talks about her hobby.
"I'm not too surprised if you're good at dancing. But to paint? You can do it!??" Declan was a little hesitant. From Daphne's stature, one wouldn't think if he was good at drawing.
"Of course you can! I took an art course in 3 years! Not only that, I also had time to join the artisan class." Daphne story at length.
Then the mood turned silent. It seems that the two have run out of questions for each other.
"Decs..." Daphne reopened her voice. "Thank you very much for your help. Sorry for being such a hassle. Honestly, I'm glad I got to know you so much closer like this."
"You happy?!" Declan turned his head to face Daphne.
"Of course I'm happy! Because for the first time, there is a man other than Daddy and Brother Darius who will listen to my story." said Daphne.
