AUTHOR POV
"Daphne, what are you doing there?"
"N-grandmother?" Daphne whose name was called immediately turned to the grandmother with a nervous expression.
"Who are you talking to? With this waiter?" grandma's tone sounded so cynical.
Daphne rebuked him, "Grandmother why is it so rude to speak."
"Grandma thought you were with William? Grandpa said it was like that, but why are you alone with such an obscure man?" Grandma Daphne scanned Declan from top to bottom.
The half-century-old woman looked at her dislike. Coupled with the appearance of Declan who was in a mess, making him more ilfeel.
"I don't like arrogant, narcissistic men like William, so why am I with him? I'd rather be here." denied Daphne.
"William is your future husband, Daph. Honor him!"
"Granny's husband-to-be says? No, I don't want to. I'm not marrying him!" Daphne raised her voice.
Declan could only listen to their debates without opening his voice. An uncomfortable feeling spread in his body. Intervening in the personal affairs of the family of others is the least desirable thing for him. That's not polite.
As Declan stands trapped among these newly-known random people, he is forced to listen to the chatter of those in conflict.
"Why? What makes you not like him?" ask Daphne's grandmother named Didem.
Daphne's brain now had to spin and work hard, thinking of something that would have made the grandmother stop thinking about her match.
"Kk-kbecause I-I already have a lover!" daphne replied quickly but her tone trembled slightly. He showed that he was really nervous about facing his grandmother who was pressing him.
"Ahh..so fuck! Why did I say I had a boyfriend. The situation will get more complicated," Daphne muttered in her heart.
"Have a lover? Who's the guy, introduce us?!" the Grandma's Cecar.
Daphne then looked to the side. Opportunity is in sight. Unnecessary, he will take advantage of Declan's presence to save his face from embarrassment.
Straight away, Daphne reflexively pulls Declan's arm and slips one of her hands between the bumps. Now Daphne's hands are perfectly circular on Declan's burly arms.
"This is my lover." Daphne answered.
Suddenly it makes Declan stunned. His eyes widened while glancing sharply at Daphne. In his heart he wanted to curse, but could not. His tongue seemed to be stifled so as not to let out harsh words.
Not only Declan, Grandma Daphne was also no less surprised when she learned the fact that her grandson had a lover. Not a young entrepreneur, not a businessman, CEO, or other elite job, but just a waitress at a wedding? Just be right!
Ashlyn suddenly appeared from behind and hovered. "Ohhh..so this waitress is your lover? It's worth it that you defend her desperately, Daph! It looks like that."
"Ash...Do you know him?" ask Grandma.
Ashlyn pitted, "Of course, Grandma. I will never forget this servant man who stepped on my dress to the point of tearing!"
"Really?"
"I'm not lying, Grandma can see for herself the tail of my dress. Besides, I don't realize why her hair is soaking wet and her clothes are so dirty!"
"What's wrong?"
"I taught him a lesson not to mess with the Harper family. She had ripped off my dress, in return I doused her with orange juice and also a plate of pasta!" Ashlyn gave a satisfied laugh which was greeted by Grandma's nod.
Without the need to check, it is certain that Grandma Didem believes more in the grandchild than anyone else. Though what people do not know, actually Declan never stepped on Ashlyn's dress, it was the woman herself that caused the dress to tear.
Given so long the tail of Ashlyn's dress and also her high heels are quite high and taper, she had fallen for a moment while walking. And incidentally, Declan disguised as waitress was passing behind her while carrying a tray of drinks.
The bodies of the two collided with each other and,
KreKKkkp...
As a result there was a misunderstanding, where Ashlyn's dress was torn but Declan became her scapegoat.
"Your taste is pretty low, Daph! Of the many men, you even choose a waitress to be a lover. Is it because you don't practice finally having to take the steering wheel? You old virgin!" jeered Ashlyn with a grin.
"Hey, watch your talk Miss!" timpal Declan's starting emotions.
Silence does not mean not to fight. Declan struggled to hold himself back from being emotionally ignited, but that concentration broke instantly when he saw the behavior of the two women in front of him who were out of bounds.
Daphne, who had lowered her head from being lectured by her grandmother and cousin, now looked up. His gaze focused on the man with the jaw firmly beside him.
"Your words have gone too far, miss! How could you insult your own cousin. He's still your brother, your family. Is this the behavior of a learned woman?" declan.
Ashlyn did not want to lose, "How dare you speak to me! You are only paid as a servant here, it is not appropriate that you dare to oppose!"
"Tell me why I should be afraid. I'm on the right side. Since then I have been deliberately silent because I am aware of the position!" sahut Declan.
"When you accuse me and humiliate me in public, I shut up. And just now you insulted me again in front of your grandmother, I'm still quiet."
"But, what I don't accept, is that you insulted my lover Daphne."
Degh...
Daphne's heart was instantly pounding with his firmness. His heart rate seemed to rise and fall erratically. His palms began to sweat coldly. Is this man defending her?
Declan begins to dissolve into the theatrics and games created by Daphne by accident. He didn't mind that. Daphne had helped him earlier, now it was her turn to save Daphne's face so as not to be ashamed.
Attention from the guests around the invitation is focused on those who are at odds. Declan won't let Daphne be the moons of her cousin and her bastard grandmother.
Shortly thereafter, Daphne's parents and her brother and sister-in-law emerged into civilization. The four of them walked closer to Daphne.
Hadley and Ajax, as the king and queen at this magnificent wedding also witnessed the commotion that was happening. The atmosphere became increasingly tense coupled with the presence of other large Harper families who gathered.
"Daph, what's the matter? Did you just make a scene?"
"That-no, Papi." Daphne shook her head quickly as she held her arms against Declan's.
Papi and Mami Daphne were somewhat confused to see her daughter clinging to a man. "Who is he, Daph?" ask Mommy.
"That man is Daphne's lover!" Grandma Didem was grieving with a soft tone.
BOOMING
The entire room was made a scene instantly with the fact that they had just heard, not least the parents of Daphne were alone.
"Look at your daughter's behavior, Keenan! Maybe she's dating a lowly servant!" satirical Granny Didem.
Keenan let go of his hand to his wife and walked towards Daphne, his daughter.
"Daphne.is she really your lover?" ask Keenan gently.
Daphne nodded slowly. Both of his eyes were glazed. If he blinked once, his tears would spill.
I don't know what makes it cry. He may be scared, confused, or panicked because he was pressured by his family. Everything is mixed into one. Being humiliated in public like this made her want to cry as hard as possible.
Keenan opened his voice, "What's your name?"
"My name is Decs." Declan reached out his hand to shake hands with Papi Daphne.
"Do you really mean it to my daughter?" ask Keenan seriously.
Declan was silent for a moment. He doesn't know what to answer. Daphne and himself met a while ago and now he has to be faced with something ridiculous like this?
"If you do have a relationship with my daughter, come home. Meet Daphne's family in good order and we can talk about everything there." Keenan smiled faintly as he patted Declan's shoulder softly.
