DECLANS
"Good Morning Decs." said Mommy and Daddy.
My real name is Declan. But somehow Mommy and Daddy prefer to call me Decs.
"Morning too Mom's..Dad.." I took turns peeping at my parents' cheeks one by one.
"What time are you home, son? Looks like it's still sleepy, huh? Both of your eyes until it's so red!" ask Daddy.
"Yes, Dad. The plane I was on yesterday had to delay about 2 hours due to weather constraints. I just landed in London at 3 a.m. And got home about 4 and a half."
"God! Then you only sleep for 3 hours?" it was Mommy's turn to ask.
"Exactly!" I said as I poured a box of chocolate milk on my favorite mug. "Maybe after breakfast I'll sleep again, Mom."
"Hmm..you make it difficult for yourself Decs! Didn't Daddy tell you that if you're traveling, use Daddy's private plane!"
"I'm more comfortable sitting in an airplane seat with economy class, Dad." I said casually as I chuckled.
Daddy and Mommy could only shake their heads and look at each other. They both must have felt strange about the principles I applied.
In the last 4 years, I have enjoyed my life more with a low profile status. Not as sole heir to the Parker family fortune, nor as CEO of Parker Group.
"Oh yes Dec, at 10 am you have a meeting with your business partner from America? What's his name, Daddy forgot?! If it is not wrong, Mr. Johansson, right?"
"Daddy, Romeo Johansson?" many ensure.
"Well.that's it! Sorry if I forgot the name. Daddy always has a bad memory."
"Supposedly, yes. But my scheduled meeting with Romeo was forced to reschedule because he was accompanying his wife to give birth to their third child."
Both of Mommy and Daddy's eyes popped. They seemed surprised by the news I was reporting.
"Third kid? Wow.quickly have a baby again. As far as Mommy, his wife gave birth last year, but now their family members have grown up again" Mommy said.
"Romeo really likes kids, Mom. I'm not too surprised that next year his wife will get pregnant again."
"You yourself when will you give us grandchildren, Decs?"
Degh...
Here is the question I avoid the most. I really don't like it when my parents start talking about marriage, children, or other related things.
"Dad.we've already talked about this." I looked at Daddy with a flat face.
"Of Decs, your age is 3 heads now. It's time for you to settle down and have a family. Don't you want to get married and have children like your other friends?" father said in a serious tone.
I turned my gaze in any direction and clucked lazily. "I have no desire to get married" I said plainly.
"Declan Joseph Parker!"
Mommy gave my full name with an emphasis on each word, signifying that her heart was filled with anger.
I reiterate, "I've told you repeatedly that I don't want to get married. And never get married."
"Why is that? What reason?" ask Mommy curiously. He even dropped the fork and spoon he was holding, then just put it down.
"Don't pretend. Mommy already knows the answer." I didn't rub it again and chose to continue smearing jam on a piece of bread rather than serving them.
"The reason you don't make sense Decs!" argue Daddy.
"Not making sense how? The fact is that, isn't it? All the women close to me always take advantage of the privilege I have. They are all nothing more than traitors, cheaters, and most importantly they are also realistic!" I spoke back to ketus.
"Not every woman in the world is bad-hearted, Declan. Do not equal all women to your ex-lovers. Throw away such thoughts!" Daddy advised.
Daddy then interjected, "Hey, watch your talk hotshot! The proof is that your Mommy does not belong to the category of women with the traits you just mentioned!"
"Mommy is an exception. Besides, I never really found anyone who was sincere with me. I don't trust women out there except Mommy. That's why I feel alone" I replied honestly.
All this time I always had trouble getting a partner who accepted me as I was unconditionally. The proof is that as long as I live to be an ordinary person in the past few years, no woman has been interested in courting me.
Most of them wouldn't want me to take a more serious step. They just think of me as a friend. Physically, my face is not so bad. Once again, their nature has further strengthened my theory that women are essentially materialistic.
"Would you try to introduce Mommy to the girl of Mommy's friends?" ask Mommy again.
"No." I replied briefly.
Mommy is a woman with a high social status. The high-class predicate is so attached to its image. His circle of friends is also famous for elites.
If until Mommy betroths me to the son of one of her friends, then that's a lie. They'll definitely accept me right away because I come from the Parker family.
Daddy co-opted, "Do you want to know the daughter of a business partner and Daddy's friends?"
"No Dad's..Moms..Stop pushing me!"
Obviously I strongly reject anything that has to do with matchmaking. I don't like this talk. Makes my head break.
"Well, when are you gonna keep this Declan? Our family needs an heir to continue Parker Group's business! You're the only hope we have."
They don't really understand my way of thinking. Let alone them, I alone do not understand what my future will be like.
"If your wishes are so, then Mommy and Daddy can adopt a child from the orphanage only. Then educate the child well so that later he can take control of the leadership seat Parker group." I deliberately respond with sarcasm.
"O Lord Decs, is that as easy as you speak? This is not just about the heir, but it is also about Daddy and Mommy who have a great desire to hold a grandchild. Your biological child.the offspring that is the original blood of our flesh."
I bit my jam bread and said, "But sadly I can't give you that.."
Mommy closed her eyes neutralizing her feelings. The same thing happened to Daddy. They both exhaled roughly while stroking the chest as it held back the emotions that were at the top of the head.
100 Percent sure if they run out of words facing this stubborn me.
I feel like my life is complete, so I don't need a woman. I am happy with my current condition. Life is like a butterfly that flies here and there looking for freedom.
If I were married now, my life would be boring. Indirectly, I was forced to bond and commit to one person. Which means, I can no longer walk away as I please.
The atmosphere of this cloudy morning suddenly became increasingly dark. The garden birds who had chirped to accompany our breakfast were also reluctant to let out their voices again.
The silence hung for quite a while between us before Daddy reopened his voice.
"Daddy will give you the opportunity and time to bring your chosen wife to come home!" knock Daddy out suddenly.
"And what if I don't?" I put a smile on the corner of my lips.
"Forced Daddy will match you with Daddy's chosen girl. Like not like you have to accept it with chesty."
I pulled my hair back and leaned my body against the chair in frustration.
"Ckk.ini again.this is the discussion. Can't we as a family sit back together without even talking about marriage, Dad? It feels tired if you are forced continuously. Does Daddy want to see me die young from the stress of arranged marriages?"
"Take it or leave it, Decs. This is a challenge for you. If you fail, Daddy will set the date for your wedding with the daughter of Daddy's business partner."
"What confidence, Daddy thinks she wants to marry a guy like me?"
Daddy smiled mockingly. "Out there, there are so many women waiting in line to be your wife! You alone are selling expensive and too install a high standard. So that when your expectations do not match reality, you feel dropped." reply Daddy with a punch.
And our breakfast that day should finally end with endless heated debates between me and my parents.
