The Secretaries
CHAPTER 30

Darren just arrived at his house. As he walked towards the TV room, there Wirawan seemed to cross hands sitting on the sofa staring at him with sharp eyes. Darren was sure that his papa would nag him all out.

"Where have you been?" ask Wirawan to Darren.

"Apartment." Darren replied nonchalantly, then rushed towards his room room.

"Papa wants to talk to you" said Wirawan to make Darren step stopped.

Darren then abandoned his intention to go to his room and went back to his papa to sit on the sofa there.

"What's wrong?" tanya Darren was impolite and indifferent.

"When do you think and act as an adult? You have a wife now. Could you be lying unclear and even nginep in the apartment?" Wirawan started to nag.

"Darren has a wife because Papa and Mama want to. Not on Darren's own will."

"Darren!" wirawan snarled at his son.

"Darren's tired of taking a break." Darren was reluctant to respond to his papa again, he instead went to leave Wirawan who was still emotional on the sofa alone.

"Mas, you've come home" Zaila chirped when she found Darren who had just opened the door to her room.

Darren did not bother at all the words of his wife who was leaning on the head of the bed while stroking her stomach. Darren picked up a towel and a change of clothes, then walked towards the bathroom to clean up the body. Seeing this, Zaila began to feel pain.

And after coming out of the bathroom, Darren laid his body on the bed. He pretended to be busy with his phone. While there Zaila was still in the same position as before, the woman was waiting for her husband to speak.

"Where were you going last night?" tanya Zaila tried to give in to invite Darren to talk first. When he found Darren's response was silent, Zaila continued to talk. "My stomach hurt. Papa's calling the doctor here." And this time Darren started to look at Zaila.

"Why?" darren asked as he stared at Zaila's stomach at a glance.

"I'm cramping my stomach. But the doctor said it's normal to be pregnant young."

"How serious? Does it still hurt?"

Zaila smiled. "No, really. It doesn't hurt." Zaila who initially had negative thoughts started positive again. She thought Darren did not care about her pregnant condition, but it turned out that her husband was still impressed attention.

Darren breathed very slowly. The man felt relieved if nothing happened to the fetus in the womb of his wife. Darren turned back to look away and busied again with his HP.

"Mas," call Zaila to Darren.

"Hm?" Darren responded, but did not look at the woman.

"You want me to look at my sister?"

"Your sister?" As Darren frowned, he turned to look at Zaila.

"Yes, my brother."

"What if you have a sister?" ask Darren to his wife.

Zaila looked down for a moment, then turned to Darren again. "You don't know about this yet. Dad and Mom did not tell you or your parents from the beginning."

Darren continued to listen carefully to Zaila.

"Coret from KK?" Darren's getting confused.

Zaila hesitates to tell Darren. But he began to vent. "My brother's hard to manage. Dad caught him a few times he went in and out of the bar. Brother likes to drink, likes to go out at night, and over time I finally can not tolerate it."

"At first Dad just stopped his pocket money. I do not give monthly money and confiscate all the facilities that Brother has. But it only makes my sister more wild. Brother started stealing Mama's money, Dad's money, sometimes I'm too lazy."

"Even Dad's furniture business almost went bankrupt because Brother pawned his shop certificate. Some capital money is also taken by you."

"And in the end my brother was thrown out of the house. My mom and dad got out of control. They don't know and don't take care of you anymore."

"Where is your brother now?" ask Darren to Zaila.

"Since being evicted from the house we never know the news of Brother. But a few months ago we were in shock." Zaila took a short pause. "I'm not arrested by the police on charges of prostitution and liquor business."

Darren's eyes are a little rounded. He was shocked and felt shunned. Because in reality he was also a person who had fallen into such a world. But all of that managed to cover the papa well. Maybe if Zaila's family knew, her marriage to that woman would never have happened.

"My brother's in jail. Ever since I found out about it, I've been looking at him a lot. Even though Big Brother always kicked me out and got mad if I samperin he's there."

"Same father Mama was more embarrassed by the news of the brother who was like that. They really don't want to see my sister anymore. But I pity you. So, I'm the only one who's at least close to Brother."

Zaila began to grab Darren's hand grasping it gently. The man just kept listening to every word that came out of his wife's mouth. "You want me to meet my brother in prison?" pinta Zaila to Darren.

"Hem, I'm temenin." Darren replied that he had been silent for a few seconds.

...◦○⭕○◦...

This afternoon Darren escorted Zaila to visit the older sister in the holding cell. Darren wondered how his sister looked like. And after going through several procedures, the two slowly walked towards the visiting room.

Darren and Zaila waited for a while, and soon the older sister arrived.

How surprised Darren after knowing that his wife's brother was someone he knew. Zuilu, that woman is the older sister of Zaila. How ironic.

The eyes of Darren and Zuilu looked at each other. Both were surprised and confused. And Zaila, she felt a strangeness begin to grow from the look in the eyes of her husband and her brother.

...

...◦○⭕○◦...

Darren drives his car with a heavy mind after meeting Zuilu in prison with his wife. The world is too naive to live in. The reality and the simple fate felt increasingly absurd.

Complicated, everything is complicated. Darren who thought that if Zuilu was a good woman, the fact was not so. And Darren, who thinks his papa is the one who just ruined his life, turns out to be wrong.

Problem after problem is becoming more and more. Darren felt that all this was like a curse from God for him. Darren is really confused.

And next to him was Zaila who could only fall silent. The woman felt guilty and a little angry. Her great affection for her brother made Zaila almost blame the Argantara family, but not entirely her husband's family was wrong.

The couple kept on tight-lipped. They struggle with their own thoughts and feelings. And Darren keeps driving his black sedan home.
