Barli knew Liana was already helpless in terms of finances and business. Plus the decision of his father who has transferred half of the shares to Vania. Liana's on the verge of bankruptcy! But there may still be hope. Today is the time for the lawyer to read out the will of his late father.
They all gathered in the living room. Barli, Liana, Revan, are also the personal attorneys of the late Johan Baroto, Bona. Bona had trusted the late Johan for years to take care of all matters concerning the law, including his will.
“All family members have gathered here, Mr. Bona. Please we just start reading Papa's will,” Barli said opening the conversation.
“Sorry, Mr. Barli. We have to wait for someone else,” said Bona.
“Who?” Barli, Liana, Revan looked at each other.
“Representation of Ms. Vania.” Bona answered briefly.
“For what? He's not part of our family. We have no business with him.” Liana said annoyed. The woman was always in the shadow of her family. Liana hated Vania.
“Pak Johan Baroto has advised that Vania must also be present in the reading of the will. So, let's just wait. Ms. Vania's lawyer promised to come. There's still time.”
A minute later a housekeeper came to report Leon's arrival. Barli nodded and told him to let Leon in.
“Good day Fathers and Mothers. I, Leon, come on behalf of my client, Ms. Vania.” Leon introduced himself and reached out to shake hands, but no one noticed. All eyes looked at Leon with a dislike look.
“Alright, because everyone is present, I will read a letter of inheritance from Mr. Johan.”
The lawyer showed them an envelope that was still sealed and opened it in front of them.
“I Johan Baroto wrote this will in a conscious state and not under any threat or coercion, hereby bequeathing all shares and companies on my behalf to Vania.”.
Prangs! Liana dropped the glass in her hand. “What?” shout, “this must be a lie!” He snatched the will from Bona's hand and immediately limped after confirming that the contents were correct.
Revan took the letter from his wife and angrily threw it on the table.
“What is Johan thinking, heh?” The will had shattered all his hopes.
While Barli just stayed on the spot, trying to understand what was on his late father's mind when writing the will.
“What Vania knew this before?” ask him to Bona.
“I can confirm that Ms. Vania previously knew nothing about this. I'm sure the late Mr. Johan hid the contents of this will from anyone. As you have witnessed for yourself, the seal is still intact.”
“Good. If that is Papa's last wish, you take care of everything.” Barley said weakly.
“Sister! Did you take all this for granted?” Liana nodded furiously. “This house. Will this house also belong to Vania?” He turned to the lawyer.
“Yes, this house with all its contents. Including the collection of vehicles Mr. Johan will belong to Ms. Vania. All property, shares, and company on behalf of Mr. Johan bequeathed to Ms. Vania.”
Revan rushes forward and pulls Bona's collar. “You must have cheated us all. You're conspiring! The letter is fake!”
Barli pulled Revan away. “Control yourself. You know for yourself that letter can't possibly be faked.”
“Sa-me, my business today is done here. I'm sorry.” Bona quickly excuse me with a pale face. He feared being the target of further anger.
“I'll come with you, Mr. Bona. We have a lot to talk about after this. Excuse me, everyone.” Leon refrained from smiling. He felt relieved and happy for Vania. Vania deserves all this.
“I should have killed that woman!” Liana sizzled furiously after Bona and Leon left.
“What do you mean, Liana?” Barli pulled Liana's arm. “You said?” He looked at Liana in horror.
“I don't understand! Tell me the truth, Liana! What does everything mean?” Barli could barely breathe so anxiously.
“Yes! It was Liana who planned the murder of Papi, the billionaire Johan Baroto.” Revan says.
“Cannot be! Not Liana. This must be you! My brother is not a killer!” Barli looked at Revan and Liana alternately. God, this must be a nightmare.
“Revan correct. I planned Papa's murder!” Liana shouted. “I hate him! I hate him so much. You know what Papi told me? He said I was useless! Papi says I'm the dumbest woman he's ever met. I don't choose a husband. I'm not good at managing a company. I don't deserve to be part of the family. What is my fault? What's my fault?”
Plaque! Barli slapped Liana in the face. “How are you! Just because of a few words from Papa did you get to the heart of planning a murder?”
“Ha-ha-ha. Defeated him. In the end I managed to defeat him.” Liana began to lose control of herself.
“Now what are you going to do, Sister-in-law? Are you going to turn your own brother over to the police? You know she's pregnant and her soul is unstable. He would definitely not survive being alone behind bars. You've lost Papi. Are you going to lose your sister too?” Revan asked cynically.
Barli was provoked by Revan's words and started attacking him. “This is all because of you. You've made my sister lose her mind!”
Revan dodged and instead punched Barli's jaw. “This time I will fight you.”
“Sial! How dare you!” Barley shouted furiously.
“Easy, Bro! Now is not the time to fight. Remember, we are family. We need to come together and think things through. There must be a way out.”
Revan said in a calm voice. He then sat back down on the sofa and reached into a box of cigarettes and lit it up. “Sit down, Sister-in-law and listen to my plan.”
Barli's head seems to be about to explode. What the fuck? What should he do now? Revan's right. He didn't want to lose Liana. Liana's the only family left. He looked towards Liana. His sister was now like an empty shell. His face was cold with no expression. Liana, what will happen to you after this? On us?
Barli tried hard to calm his heart in order to think more clearly. “What's your plan?” ask him about Revan.
“Let that woman bear it all. He deserves it after everything he did to our family. I think that's fair enough. A reasonable price for all the wealth he will get later.”
“Vania, you mean?” There's pain in Barli's chest. He remembered how pale Vania's face was when she visited him in prison. Now it's clear that Vania is not the killer, but Liana. This is so bad!
“Yes. Let the woman rot in jail.” Liana who had been staring suddenly spoke up. “I'm sorry, Barli. I regret. I shouldn't have killed Papi. I've gone too far.”
“How can you do that? Poisoning Papi? How did you know Papi would be there with Vania?” Barley was silent for a moment. Something came to his mind. “Did you send me an SMS back then?”
“Yes. I paid people to follow Papi for days. I knew he was going to meet that woman there. I purposely told you to go there, lure Vania out, so we could have a chance to sneak into the hotel room, poison Papi and make Vania a suspect.”
Barli's blood bubbled by anger. “You should have called the police so quickly before you even saw Papi's body. Did you kill him yourself? Forcing her to drink poisonous wine?”
“Not me.” Liana glanced at Revan.
“Bigger! You did it, Revan?” Barli jumped at Revan. “I'll kill you!”
Barli went on a rampage and beat up Revan. It was the man who had taken all of her. His father's life and his brother's sanity. He must take revenge. He had to kill Revan. It doesn't matter if he has to go to jail because of it.
“Barli, stop! You can make him die.” Liana was screaming hysterically. Seeing Revan getting more and more helpless, blood flooded his face but there was no sign Barli would stop. Liana then grabbed the crystal ashtray that was on the table and smashed it into Barli's head.
