Bali with all its beauty makes the gala dinner night feel so special. All the invited guests were amazed followed by a rumble of applause when read the names that won the title of achievement in their respective divisions. The celebration was almost over when Barli realized Vania was not in the room. His eyes searched among the invited guests, but the woman in a red dress who momentarily flew her wishful thinking, he could not find.
[Where are you? Don't ever disappear without saying goodbye, I don't like]
His finger typed a message and immediately sent it to his secretary. Barli has been aware of the strangeness since they came home from Turkey. The longer, Vania gets away from him. After coming home from Turkey, they had never even spent a night together. Barley misses Vania.
No response from Vania. That made him angry. Immediately he rushed towards Vania's room on the twenty-third floor. The same floor as her. Barley easily gained access to the key. When he opened Vania's room, he did not find the beautiful woman there.
****! Where'd Vania go? Not yet he had time to think long, his mobile phone embroidery, from Farih event coordinator.
“Sorry Mr. Barli, we will soon close the event, please you can stand by in the room, because will the photo event together and shake hands with all outstanding employees in a moment.”
“Good, five more minutes I'm there.” Barli exhaled an annoyed breath.
While coming out of the room, he dialed Vania's number. There's no answer. His emotions are mounting. He rushed into the ballroom. The show was almost over, all the award recipients were already on stage. The owner of the red dress was next to the stage. Ah, that woman really drove him crazy.
“Vania, come to the stage with me now, and never disappear again without me ordering like just now.” Barli whispered the sentence in Vania's ear, pulling her hand. Vania could only follow Barli's angry steps. A pair of eyes looked at him with pity. Johan watched Barley from a distance.
Johan often sends paid people to follow Barli, look after him, and report all the things that Barli does. He did not want Barli to misstep and mingle. However, for Barli's character and treatment of subordinates, Johan never observed closely. Seeing Barli's treatment just now, Johan thought, it turned out that Barli was often rude to his secretary. There was something he did not know, and he had to find out. The only person who had escaped his supervision was the secretary, Vania.
Gempita applause filled the hotel ballroom that night filled with very beautiful decorations. Crystal lights of various sizes hang on the roof of the room. Set dining table neatly lined with a beautiful arrangement of plates, cups, spoons and forks. The dim yellow lighted candle adds to the familiar and romantic atmosphere. Fresh plants are in the corner of the room. White lily flowers and white carnations adorn the walls adding to the fresh impression of the view.
Vania was after coordinating with Farih, when Barli's burly hand reached her shoulders.
“Tonight accompany me.” Vania. Barli could not be rejected, he was tired of Vania's attitude that signals rejection. Her hand held onto Vania's chin, then looked up at the secretary's pretty face towards her.
“Do not make me wait too long.” Vania tilted her face, Barli's hand was released. Vania soon passed leaving Barley. Her chest feels tight. He ran to his room. A pair of eyes were watching him from afar. Johan Baroto was more convinced, all this time Barli did not treat Vania well.
The day passed so quickly, since gala dinner in Bali, Vania and Johan Baroto met more often. Johan now lives in a luxury apartment in Kuningan. It was easier for him to meet Vania. Everything Vania planned seemed to be going well. Johan needed a friend to talk with, to accompany him to dinner, and to hear all the stories of his glory remain in his hands.
Vania is not only beautiful but also smart with a lot of plans in her head. Together with Johan, the other side of his needs were fulfilled. Johan treated her like a whole girl. Perhaps the sixty-year-old man, had given many valuable experiences. Vania wants more. Johan's warm attention gave him comfort.
“Daddy, how does it feel to be rich? Get everything we want?” vania asked one night, as she accompanied Johan Baroto to dinner at a restaurant near the apartment. Vania spends more time after work, chatting with the man she now calls “Daddy”.
“Money is just a number, Vania. Numbers cannot buy happiness, because happiness cannot be measured by numbers. Happiness can only be felt or given indefinitely.”
Daddy's munching on steak hot plate, his favorite menu. Daddy's been feeling young lately. Vania manages to restore her life spirit, from a grandfather of two grandchildren to a mature man ready to share his experiences. Liana, Barli's sister had indeed given him two adorable granddaughters.
Johan Baroto started to like Vania. The two have an unusual relationship, perhaps even unreasonable. The relationship between a man and a woman begins to feel dependent on each other. No relationship in bed. Pure friendship with increasing levels of dependence.
“I used to think, money can buy everything. It's still like that now. Even when Aileen, my son was convicted of blood cancer, which was on my mind, only money could save him. I work hard for the numbers that the hospital always gives after Aileen washes,” said Vania while sipping a mojito from her glass.
“I'm a dirty mother.” The eyes were glazed over, soon the clear liquid was spilled. His right hand hurriedly wiped his two eyeballs in turn. Just to Daddy, Vania can complain about anything, except one thing. That he accidentally entered the Mediatama Barlian with a purpose of revenge.
Vania's visit to Daddy's apartment becomes more intense. Vania learned a lot about business from Daddy. The man is determined to make Vania a capable woman holding the company. Although initially uninterested, Vania finally listened to all Daddy's explanations well. Until the time is ready Vania resigns from the Barli company.
“What the fuck? Who allowed you to resign Vania, have you gone mad?” Barli shouted furiously, as Vania gave her resignation letter.
“Sorry, I'm really sorry, Mr.”
“Stop your bullshit! We're just two here!”
“Barli, I ask for a good permission to get out of here. Please don't make things harder.”
“You want to raise your salary? Howmany? How much are you asking? This is a blank check, you fill in your own nominal.” Barli grabbed a blank check that was in his drawer then thrust it to Vania. The woman shook her head.
“Barli, please don't be like this.”
“How much? Just write it, twice? Three times the salary so far? The apartment? A home? What do you ask Vania, say!”
Barli was really angry, his face was met with red. He felt betrayed by the closest people. He never thought Vania would leave him, leave the company where he made his living.
“I'll get married.” Vania lowered her tone.
“What?”
“It's time for Barli, I'll get married and move to Australia. My husband asked me to stay with him.”
Vania had to lie. This was the only reason that made the most sense to appease Barli. Allegedly wrong. Instead of being calm, Barli threw everything on his desk.
Prangs!
All the stuff is on the floor. Notebooks, some books, as well as displays of broken crystals scattered. Vania could no longer bear to see Barli's anger.
He ran out, clutching his chest that felt sore. Vania had no choice and did not want to go back to the office. Barli is no longer important to him. Just like Avan and the crazy plans that dragged him into the maelstrom of trouble that he is today.
