THE WASTED WIFE

THE WASTED WIFE
HONESTLY SPEAKING II

"Darling…"

Elara's soft, vibrating voice resuscitated Maxxie. The man immediately raised his face, leaning on his back while removing the glasses from his face. Elara could hear Maxxie's breathing.

"What are you doing in my office these nights?" asked Max, curtly, with a sharp glare at Elara standing behind the door. Maxxie's face looked cold. Seeing Ela coming there was no warm welcome as usual.

Ela swallowed her saliva. His throat suddenly felt dry.

Hearing Max's unfriendly tone made Elara's body tremble. Ela lowered her face, while her hand held the paper bag.

"I want to explain everything. About my relationship with Elland. About my past" Elara said softly barely audible.

"Do you know where you're going to start that story? Just say it now!", replied Maxxie without changing the intonation of the cold-sounding tone. There was clearly anger and disappointment in his tone.

Elara was still standing in her place, without shifting a bit.

"Elland and his family are no one else to me. Our parents were good friends, then it came down to us their kids were good friends too. Elland and my sister have been together since childhood. I consider Elland like my own sister. We're close".

"When mommy died, I felt alone in this world. Her sister decided to continue her education in another country. While daddy always forced his will so that I went to college in business majors that I didn't like because I preferred ballet".

"Since then I've been getting closer to Elland. He always listens to my heart. And she also supported my choice of becoming a ballerina. We're getting close. I felt it was so attentive to me".

"And..."

Elara fell silent. Suddenly his tongue could not continue his words. Ela raised her face hesitantly looking at Maxxie who was looking at her coldly from her desk chair.

Max stood up and walked over to a table located in the corner of the room. The man poured the wine into a glass. "Why did you stop talking?"

"I committed a sin. I'm pregnant. I aborted my womb", said Ela bowed and sobbed with a badly shaken shoulder. His voice vibrates.

Max closed his eyes, while his fingers clutched tightly against the wine-filled glass.

Krakk..

Seeing that both of Elara's eyes bulged.

"Dear you're hurt" cried Elara in panic. He put the paper bag on the table and ran over to Maxxie. Spontaneously Ela removed the scarf she was wearing and attached it to Maxxie's bleeding fingers.

Max brushes Elara's hand. "Don't touch me! Go!"

Elara was silent without flinching. His hand shakes away from Max's. Ela's body kept her distance from the man.

Maxxie's words were like the stab of a sharp dagger pulling out his heart. Just contact Ela's eyes heat up and tears run down the corner of the eye that harbors the pain.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you my past before. I'm mistaken. I covered her from you", said Elara with a trembling voice. As much as possible, he held back his tears so as not to spill.

There's no reply from Maxxie.

"Please let me lie to you. But one thing I can't deny and it's true. I-I really love you. I'm in love with you", said Elara stammering. Then pause for a moment to regulate the heartbeat that is increasingly beating fast.

Ela closed her eyes. Ela spoke again.

"I accept the consequences, if now you hate me even if you cancel our engagement. M-I'm sorry..."

I heard Elara breathing. Ela turned her body, ran out of Maxxie's room with her face down and rubbed the clear circles that eventually fell as well.

While Maxxie did not flinch at all. Mind raging. Completely fucked. As if he realized, Max looked at the door and saw a paper bag with their favorite restaurant logo on the table near the door.

"Magarina...".

Maxxie runs out to the bottom floor, but Elara is nowhere to be seen.

Max saw the carport, invisible to Ela's car there. "Ah Shitt's! What have I done to my fiancee..."
