THE WASTED WIFE

THE WASTED WIFE
HEARING ELARA'S CONFESSION

"Why are you here, go. I want to be alone".

"I'll leave if you answer my question, Ela. What really happened between you and Max, why did you walk away from him if you really loved Maxxie?".

Elara did not answer anything, she just remained silent and looked far ahead to the sunflowers that were blooming.

"It's none of your business. I am under no obligation to explain anything to you", Ela replied softly but sounded resolute.

Elland nodded her head. "Do you really love Max? If you really loved her you should have stayed with her, Ela, not gone like this".

Elland's words were actually able to make Ela react. "Look who's talking now. It was as if he was a man who never did". For a moment Elara stared at the cynical Elland who was beside her.

"That's not what I mean. I didn't mean to make you remember our past at all. Unless you still have feelings for me Ela–"

"Of course not. I make sure you're just part of my dark past and I've buried it a long time ago. Since you left", Ela insisted without taking her eyes off in the slightest.

"After that, I never opened my heart to any man again. While I can live my life again. By ourselves. I don't need anyone next to me".

"But everything seemed to melt in an instant, when I met Maxxie. I slowly felt deep feelings for her. We became lovers. I love her so much. The dead taste slowly came back to life. I feel my love again".

"I wish more. I was too naive. I was wrong to think my past would not affect our relationship. You are actually friends. When you found out you were back in Houston and you were good friends, it made me shocked" Elara said, shaking with her tears in her eyes.

"I couldn't bear to tell Max everything. I was afraid of losing her" said Elara bowed languidly.

Maxxie who was standing behind the oak tree, fell silent in place. He heard everything Elara said to Elland.

Elland clasped Ela's fingers. "I'm sorry, Ela. Because of my mistake, you can't be happy".

"My goal back in Houston was you. I wish we could start over. When I saw you and found out you were engaged to Maxxie, it really made my heart unable to accept Ela".

"You can't misunderstand Elara. I've made up my mind, I'll be back in Amsterdam tomorrow".

"I'll go now. You calm yourself down, because Max is on his way here. I know he's very tormented and sorry for Ela. He loves you so much, I know that. I hope you're together again" Ellando said solemnly.

Elland's speech certainly made Ela shocked, she looked at Elland who was standing from her seat.

Krekka..

It sounded very clear the sound of a twig being stepped on. Both of them turned their heads to the source of the sound.

Elara's red-looking eyeball widened, glaring in disbelief at what she was seeing now.

"You have come to it. Don't get me wrong with your fiancee. I was just saying goodbye. I hope you guys make up" said Elland turned her body while patting Maxxie's shoulder who was seen rubbing her nape staring at Elland's back away.

While Elara was silent without a word, she simply lowered her face. A moment later raised his face back, venturing into Maxxie who was stepping closer to him.

"What Elland said is true. He said goodbye, tomorrow he'll be back in Amsterdam".

As if asking Maxxie not to misunderstand him, with a look I think Elara saw Max.

"M-I'm sorry".

Elara could no longer afford to stare at the dark black netra Maxxie who was staring at her with a sharp gaze. Elara bowed, while her fingers clutched together in nervousness.

I don't know what was on Elara's head, she suddenly twirled their engagement ring. Ela took off the ring. "I don't deserve to wear it, I've hurt you" she exclaimed in a trembling voice.
