Chapter 24. The Unexpected Visit

"Sister! I want thatuu," Rebecca pointed to a cake that had caught her attention.

My money is almost thinning.

The man frowned. The coins he had collected during becoming an adventurer were thinning from too many things he bought without thinking ahead. Rei was completely overwhelmed in obedience to Rebecca's every will.

Rebecca was even more interested after smelling the smell of such a delicious cake. He immediately ran as he approached the cake merchant. His eyes glazed over as he looked at the beauty of the shape of the cake and the aroma that increasingly arouses his taste.

"Uncle Arthur! I bought ten pieces of cake" Zeta said after standing next to the little girl, watching the cake-seller's uncle stir the dough.

"Zeta! where have you been" scolded Uncle Arthur.

"Hehe.., lately I've been very busy on missions," Zeta raised her eyebrows with a smile.

Rebecca was amazed by the figure of the woman standing next to her. He felt the tender soul of an older brother emanating from Zeta's smile. The girl hoped to have an older sister like herself instead of comparing her to Jessica.

"Here are ten pieces of your cake, Zeta," said Uncle Arthur, handing over a bag of cake to Zeta.

"Thank you! Beautiful sister...! here's to you, take it." Zeta confronts Rebecca and gives the girl a bag of cookies for free.

Rei who was left far away from Rebecca immediately approached them. He then found Zeta who was covering both knees instead of squatting while looking at Rebecca who was enthusiastically devouring a piece of cake. The adventurous girl was shocked after finding Rei present.

"R-r-rei?? what are you doing here?" ask Zeta with a sumringah face.

"I was walking around with my sister" Rei then grabbed Rebecca's body and held her instead of affirming their relationship to Zeta.

The clumsy Zeta smiled to find their closeness. He hopes to be always present and continue to witness the warmth shown by Rei and his sister every day.

"Can I accompany you?" Zeta ventured to show her admiration for the man.

"Yes, of course!" rei said without showing the slightest smile from his face.

They then set foot while touring the market of Raven. Amidst the crowded crowd of people selling in that place, Zeta never once distanced her distance from Rei. He seemed to want to affirm his presence which accompanied the man's journey.

Rebecca who was busy chewing on the cake immediately focused her attention on Zeta. He became astonished after finding the woman continuously watching Rei. The little girl seemed to not understand about the feeling of love that someone felt towards others.

"Sister! Aaaa!" Rebecca instantly pointed the cake she was in her grasp at Rei instead of feeding her.

"Hm... Zweta, twewima kwasih twelah (gluc).., Thank you for buying Rebecca some cookies" Rei said as she chewed and swallowed the cake in her mouth.

"N-no no! I like to spoil children... I-I mean, I remember Iris when she was a child" Zeta said, bowing her head in awkwardness.

"Iris...? What about their situation?" Rei immediately recalled about the Zeta sisters who had been his Guild colleagues.

"Y!!! how about you come visit our place? I'll make a nice cake for—" Zeta stopped her words while looking at the little girl.

"Rebecca!" sahut Rebecca confirmed her name.

"Rebecca? What a name! I'm gonna make you a nice cake, won't you?" exclaim Zeta with a smile.

"Sister! We have to go to Zeta's house! Now!" rei firmly told Rebecca to Rei excitedly.

"All right! But promise to take care of your attitude" Rei said.

"Ready, Master!" Rebecca saluted Rei instead of obeying his words.

After buying some necessities for Rodney and his two sisters, they rushed to the Rodney brothers' residence. Rei then offers himself to bring some luggage bags that are too heavy for a girl like Zeta to carry. The girl could not refuse the offer from Rei who had taken the trouble to persuade her.

Shortly after arriving in front of a worn wooden gate, Silvia who had been waiting in the courtyard of the house hurriedly approached them and found Rei holding a very beautiful little girl in his opinion.

"Rei? Who is this girl? Whoa!! It's gorgeous!" praise Silvia with an anxious look on her face.

"He's my sister, Rebecca," Rei explained.

Rebecca blushed in embarrassment after finding the flattery of Silvia. He could not take praise for granted from people he did not know at all. The child can easily feel awkward when someone is quick to praise him.

Rei who saw Rebecca's anxiety immediately released his embrace from the girl. He then took the initiative to strengthen the relationship between them because it has kept a high sense of trust in Silvia. The man thought that if Rebecca made more friends, it would accelerate her growth.

"Rebecca, do you want to play with her?" ask Rei.

"Yes! Come play with me, Rebecca! I'll show you some amazing magic!" silvia reassured the little girl.

His high curiosity also spread within him. Rebecca became enthusiastic after getting persuasion from Silvia. He was overwhelmed with curiosity by the magic that the girl would show.

"All right! Silvia, take care of herself while not being with me," Rei had guessed the contents of Rebecca's heart that was eager to play with the magical girl.

Silvia who had obtained permission from Rei immediately clasped Rebecca's hand tightly as she led her towards the backyard. Her heart flowered after successfully getting the attention of the cute girl.

"Have you taught him anything, Rei?" zeta asked after finding Rei pensively watching them from a distance.

"Yet. But there is a possibility that I will teach him magic when his age is sufficient" Rei replied, explaining.

"If you're pleased, I'll persuade Silvia to teach her some basic magic" Zeta said as she walked into the house and was followed by Rei walking behind her.

Rei was pensive as he thought deeply about the offer. Because, he was worried that someday the man could not be a proper teacher for Rebecca due to his lack of understanding of magic. Rei felt confident that Silvia was the right magic teacher for Rebecca.

"S-s-se-welcome, Rei!!!" Iris who had been waiting from inside the house was shocked after finding Rei coming.

The girl suddenly approached Rei while hugging him tightly. He felt a deep longing after a long time without seeing the man who had planted the seeds of love in his heart.

Zeta was stunned not to play after finding Iris casually hugging Rei without the slightest embarrassment. He who was angry with the actions of his sister was immediately hit the head of Iris instead of throwing his frustration over the actions of the brother's disrespect towards Rei.

"It hurts!!!" lirih Iris rubbed her head.

"Be polite to guests!" reprimand Zeta with a furious face.

Iris bowed her body repeatedly while apologizing for her spontaneous actions against Rei. He momentarily realized that his actions had caused his cheeks to become reddish. The girl suddenly ran to her room because she could not endure the deep shame.
