"It is true that there is a large army preparing at the border" Han Ji said with a heavy breath. "They carried a red flag with a picture of a clover flower in the middle."
General Guo Cu had since listened attentively. Today, Han Ji, Khuang Peng and Nie Chi asked to meet him. They just got back from the investigation all night.
This general glanced at Khuang Peng and Nie Chi, as if asking for certainty. These two young men nodded after trying hard to neutralize their breathing flow.
"He's not lying. We did see it." Khuang Peng said convincingly.
Followed by Nie Chi to strengthen the confidence of general Guo Cu. "They're ready, just waiting for the order to move."
The general looked several years older with a deep frown. His hands are stroking his beard. "Red flag with clover image? There's no mistaking it, it's Fujimino Shiro's army."
The three people looked at him confusedly, implying a single question. Who'sis that?
General Guo Cu immediately continued. "He was a famous general of the Jeiji Empire. His sword science is very good. He's a very feared opponent."
"Then, what should we do?"
The general thought for a moment. "I don't trust you yet. But if our opponent is indeed general Fujimino, it will be very heavy. Let me negotiate with the generals."
Han Ji kicked the table. "The enemy is in sight and we are in a state of shock. No need to negotiate, tell the generals what they are!"
The general shook his head. "Where can be so–"
"Who can be sure what the real purpose behind the waiting Jeiji fleet is? Are you really sure they're recuperating?" cut Han Ji fearless. "What if they wait for the troops from Alang-Alang village to get here and make a surprise attack?"
There was a change in the general's face. But not fully believe in the words of Han Ji.
Just then, one soldier entered the room and immediately saluted. General Guo Cu let him speak.
"General of the first army asks permission to meet."
General Guo Cu tidied up his clothes and had the three warriors sit down. Then he nodded to the soldier. He indicated that he had allowed.
The soldier went outside, and soon the old general led the first army.
"Welcome General Fu, please–"
"There's no time anymore." His voice sounded tense. They all get confused. But the grandfather continued. "We are surrounded on two sides. Jeiji's army began to move from the west to here. We should send a report to the king's city and ask for help."
General Guo Cu's face paled, but as much as possible he looked calm. "If you speak so, there is no reason for me to doubt. We'll take care of the evacuation of the citizens."
...****************...
The warriors who joined the army of three, helped also evacuate the citizens. That afternoon the fortress city of Mustika Naga was stirred because suddenly the danger bell was hit brrtalu-talu. As everyone gathered in the square, the four generals were already standing on the stage and the first army general, the oldest and most respected, gave a speech.
"This fortress is no longer tenable. We have to act. Squad three will help you get out of here!"
One of the many sentences of the speech. And so after that, general Guo Cu was busy evacuating the citizens along with his troops. Troops one and two guarded the west of the city, and troops four stood guard at the fortress. A messenger sent to the king's city had already departed from earlier. Two men from the warriors.
"Really, we've been blind." Khuang Peng opened his voice while helping a child who had tripped because of running around in panic. "Be careful, son."
The boy did not answer and ran again. Then Khuang Peng continued his sentence which was interrupted due to the incident of the fallen child earlier. "I guess we can all win by continuing to languish in the fortress of the Dragon Mustika."
"From the beginning I was suspicious" Han Ji said. "Did Jeiji not know about the power of the Dragon Mustika fortress. Moreover, the power in this bay is the main force of the Dragon Mustika fortress. Why are they deliberately about to pound here?"
Nie Chi had only been quiet since then.
"That's the result of the clever brains of the Jeiji generals." Nie Chi said. "We are the ones who are too arrogant and underestimate them."
This speech was like a slap to the three of them. Now their eyes were opened, as if they had forgotten history. How long ago, the Jeiji empire was once almost in control of the entire Chang mainland, and for no apparent reason, the Chang empire was able to come out victorious.
In every folktale, the helper star of that time was a Pair of White Dragons. But no one can be sure whether the story is true or not.
"We can't bet on luck. As in the First Historical War," Han Ji murmured.
They decided to go to another post and help evacuate residents on other lines. The situation was not much different, everyone was too panicked so the duty of the soldiers was almost all just to calm the citizens.
Many young children and pregnant women fall for the trampling. Han Ji could help them as much as possible. Until some time later, miraculously there were no casualties in the chaos and things began to calm down.
That night, the generals held a lightning meeting. Somehow, Han Ji, Khuang Peng and Nie Chi were invited as representatives of the warriors.
"It was actually Miss Han Ji who told us." Khuang Peng said subtly as he received praise from the three other generals. "I didn't do anything."
The four generals immediately watched Han Ji attentively. Guo Cu said. "I thought you were just a burden to them."
Han Ji was only able to snort.
"Miss, if you may know, have you previously conducted a preliminary investigation into the border?" ask the first army general gently, gently and politely. He was the oldest of the three, but he was also the most polite with young people like Han Ji.
Han Ji shook his head. "From one of my best friends."
"Who is that?" the two army generals asked.
Han Ji hesitated, he would never betray the young man by mentioning his name. He wanted to introduce Sung Han with a nickname, but he also did not know what Sung Han's nickname was.
Finally, when Han Ji was about to reply, he undoed his intentions and shook his head. "I can't betray my best friend."
The first army general frowned. "You mean?"
"He won't show himself."
The general nodded. He prevented the two and four army generals from asking again. This is understanding.
"That's not a problem. The point is we believe in this miss and these two young masters. Now I'm going to speak my mind, about this plan."
They listened attentively as the first army general knocked and marked many places on the map. He spoke slowly and repeatedly to make sure the listeners could understand.
Until here, Han Ji suspected that the old general was a kosen figure who had made many services. Han Ji did not see the great power behind the old body at all, but he knew one fact that his brain was so intelligent and his attitude was wise. Presumably this is what makes all generals respect when their ranks are aligned.
The plan was to conduct a surprise attack to welcome troops from the west. After the evacuation of the citizens was completed, they would ignore the fortress of Mustika Naga which would confidently take some time to break down.
Troops one and two will move north and the rest will move south. When the troops from the west came, they would carry out a siege from both sides while waiting for the relief troops from the king's city to arrive.
"After all, the choice of escape will not count. This is for the sake of the nation, let us die as long as the people are safe." The general ended his explanation.
There was no disapproval from the three generals. They all seemed not at all horrified to hear the risk. And Han Ji felt amazed.
"Okay, we agree!" Guo Cu said he represented two other generals.
