The Hard Choice

This afternoon Alena and Kenzo were in Professor Brian's lab. Alena's still leaning her head on Captain Stone's shoulder. Kenzo and Professor Brian are still talking about Alena's situation not far from Alena's current bed.

No matter what the two people are talking about, sometimes Alena does not understand their language, because sometimes they speak Spanish. Annoyingly, it must be because they're covering something from her.

"It was so long ago" complained Alena

Captain Stone smiled and rubbed Alena's head gently.

"A little while, baby. There's still something they're talking about" Captain Stone said

"Are we gonna be here long?" ask Alena

"Until you recover" replied Captain Stone

"What about Daddy's job there. Sister must also be lonely" said Alena while playing the tip of her jacket

"There's Joice taking care of her. And Reymond's been used to it for a long time now, isn't he and Joice getting close" Stone said

Alena laughed and re-enforced her body

"yes too. Why not marry them first" said Alena

But Captain Stone instead snorted a smile at his hearing

"They still need time to understand each other. The journey is still long, even though Daddy made them, but Daddy wants them to be just as happy" said Captain Stone

"Aaahh Daddy is the best. Brother must be happy with Joice. But if they're married, will Daddy still let Joice work?" ask Alena

"Of course not" Captain Stone replied directly

"Why hmm?" ask her again

Alena returns to lay her head on Captain Stone's shoulder as her eyes look at Kenzo who is still talking to Professor Brian.

Alena smilingly looked at him as Kenzo turned his head towards her.

A good man with a million beauties

"Hey, you didn't answer Daddy's question" Captain Stone said, giving Alena a gasp, but she immediately hugged his father's arm gently

"If Joice doesn't work, Daddy won't be lonely at home. Daddy will retire soon" said Alena

"Why talk like that. Daddy won't be lonely, you're with Daddy" Captain Stone said

Alena closed her eyes for a moment and took a slow breath. Her chest is tight again now.

"But who will accompany Daddy to old must be Joice" said Alena sound so bitter

"Darling, Daddy wants you to accompany him on Daddy's old day" Captain Stone said, gently wiping Alena's head

"I wish so too dad. But..." Alena again grimaced and held her chest that suddenly pulsed back.

Captain Stone gasped and grabbed Alena's body which started to limp. Kenzo who saw that immediately ran over.

"Alena" called Captain Stone with slightly shaking hands. He was really worried. Especially Kenzo.

Kenzo helps Captain Stone lay Alena's body on the bed, while Professor Brian immediately puts a breathing apparatus in his nose.

"Proff, why is Alena always like this?" ask Captain Stone about Professor Brian

"Miss' body is so weak, captain. His heart really can't work properly anymore" said Professor Brian really made Captain Stone's whole body become limp boneless.

Her daughter whom she had only met for a few months now why must she endure this much suffering???

"So how?" ask Captain Stone so softly.

Looking at Alena's face that was pale and weak again.

"There are only two ways, you can choose one of them" Professor Brian said, making Kenzo and the captain look straight at him.

"The first is a heart transplant and the second we can try to inject vital organ-boosting serum" Professor Brian said

"Is there any side effect?" ask Captain Stone

"Captain certainly. All medications have side effects. Heart transplant is sure you know what the risk is not. It must have been very risky and of course if the state of the lady is weak, then at the time of the operation we can lose her" said Professor Brian

Kenzo who had already known the explanation was only able to be bowed with a feeling that was so bitter.

"Then with that serum?" ask Captain stone again

Professor Brian seemed to sigh for a moment

"This is the first serum I've created in ten years. I tested it and I think there is nothing wrong. But to try on a human body, I've never done it. I can't guarantee it's working or not" Professor Brian said

He also doesn't know what to do. Alena's condition is quite weak, her heart is really damaged by the poison that Alena swallowed.

Captain Stone immediately sat in the chair with a lethargic face and looked desperate. He looked at Kenzo who was still looking at Alena's face.

"Can you guarantee that the serum won't put his life at risk?" ask Kenzo. Since then he just kept quiet and his brain was thinking hard with what steps he had to take to save Alena.

"I can't guarantee King. Bet his life. If the serum is suitable for the body of the lady, then she can recover completely, but if not, then the lady will not be able to survive within two weeks after the serum is injected into her body" Professor Brian said

Kenzo let out a heavy sigh, his hand grip getting stronger on Alena's hand. Her eyes fixed on Alena's face which was so calm in her unconsciousness.

It's a difficult choice, Alena's condition is so weak as to perform a heart transplant. The chances of him recovering are also small if using the procedure. But if he injects the serum into his body, it will work, because if it fails, then it won't be two weeks, Kenzo will lose Alena for good.

Kenzo closed his eyes tightly. There's no other choice, all at risk with Alena's life.

Then he should be able to choose one of them, hopefully this choice will not make him regret for life.

"I've made a choice" Kenzo said, looking at Alena

Captain Stone looked at Kenzo doubtfully, not even he himself could decide. He was really afraid that what they chose would make them lose Alena.

"I... chose the serum was put into Alena's body" said Kenzo, closing his eyes that felt sore, because tears were so eager to drip. His chest tightness, his heart also hurt to choose this option, but. Heart transplant surgery will only make Alena suffer more. Kenzo's not ready for that.

"Ken... Are you sure?" asked Captain Stone to look at Kenzo doubtfully

"I had no choice, Captain. All are at risk, if not chosen, sooner or later Alena will not be able to survive" Kenzo replied so bitterly

Captain Stone bowed and shook his head slowly.

"I hope this isn't the wrong choice" he murmured

"You sure sir? really I can't guarantee this" said professor Brian anyway. This was the first serum he created to strengthen the vital organ systems of living things. And unfortunately, it is the lover of a king Aldrego who must be the first to try it. Of course Professor Brian also felt doubt and fear. If the serum does not fit in Alena's body, then her head will be gone after this.

"I'm sure. I believe in you" said Kenzo, looking at Professor Brian in a clingy manner. That sharp gaze made Professor Brian become even more erratic. Why it became like this, he should be decisive, but things turned around. And if this fails, it may be his last job in the world.

"Alright, if so, tonight I'll inject the serum into the body of the lady. Every night before going to bed for a week I would inject it. But clearly, this serum has a fairly high dose, so the pain when the serum spreads to the veins of the woman will be more painful than the serum before her" said Professor Brian

Kenzo nodded slowly

"Alena must be strong, I'm sure she can" replied Kenzo who was still firmly grasping Alena's hand.

Professor Brian and Captain Stone just nodded. Kenzo was convinced of his choice. Then they can only hope, if all they do will not end up in vain.

Hopefully after this Alena can recover and will not feel sick again.
