Best Friend

Jager Maxton looks less happy when he sees his son bringing a girl home.  She doesn't like to see their closeness, although Damian says that the girl is his best friend but still, she's afraid that her son will fall for her.

Not without reason, for him only one girl can be his daughter-in-law but the two of them, somehow their relationship is so-so. Jager glanced at Mayumi from behind the magazine she was reading when Damian invited Mayumi to his father who was enjoying his tea.

"Dad, this is my friend Mayumi" Damian introduced Mayumi to her father.

"Hi, Uncle," Mayumi said as she bowed her body.

"Hm" Jager replied briefly.

"Dad," Damian called out to his father while pressing his tone. He can see if his father is not very fond of Mayumi but Mayumi will not be there for long.

She also has no choice but to bring Mayumi home because if she lets Mayumi be in Japan then Mayumi will get caught easily. He also can't stay in Japan for long.

"Let him rest and then Daddy will talk to you!" his father said as he put down the magazine he read.

Mayumi looked unwell, it seemed like Damian's father didn't like seeing her that much. At his father's request, Damian takes Mayumi to the room he will occupy later.

"Dam, it looks like your father doesn't like me" Mayumi said.

"No, Daddy was like that with the new guy" Damian replied.

"really?" Mayumi looked in disbelief.

"Yes, you don't have to think about it."

"Well, where's your boyfriend? Can I meet him?" mayumi asked while looking at the house carefully.

"He's busy!" answer Damian's origin.

Mayumi just nodded and followed Damian's steps towards the room. Hopefully the yakuza don't know where she is and give up looking for her but unfortunately, Akira and Katsuo are mobilizing all their people to search for Mayumi's whereabouts. They won't stop until they find Mayumi.

"It's your room, my father doesn't like women who dress impolite so I hope you always wear polite clothes" Damian reminded Mayumi.

"Sure, sorry to bother you, Damian."

"It's okay, I'll monitor the situation. We need to be careful not to let them know where you are."

"One more time, thanks. If there's no you, I don't know who else to ask for help" Mayumi said with a sad expression let alone remembering her father.

"Oh, we're friends. You better get some rest! As long as you stay here, I'll guarantee your safety."

Mayumi smiled and nodded, she was so grateful to still have a good friend like Damian. Damian comes out of the room, leaves Mayumi and after that he searches for his father. I don't know what her father is going to talk about but she can guess, her father would have wanted to ask about Mayumi.

Jager was waiting for his son in the room, he did not want their conversation heard by the Japanese girl. Damian came to his father, who was sitting in front of the window, and he even sat beside his father, ready to hear his father's question.

"Who's that girl, Damian?" ask her father because Damian didn't say he was going to bring Mayumi home.

"He was my best friend during my time in Japan, Dad."

"Then why did you bring him home?"

"Mayumi asked for my help because she was running away."

"Why?" ask his father again.

"He's having trouble, Dad. His house was destroyed and his father died. As a friend I should have helped him" Damian replied.

"Well, you don't have any special feelings for her, do you?"

Damian looked at his father closely, why did his father ask like that?

"Of course not!" the answer.

"Good and listen to me, Damian!" Jager looked at his son seriously, as did Damian.

"I know Dad, but I can't stand idly by to see him in trouble."

"I'm not against it, Damian. But I just want you to be careful and remember, I don't want Ainsley to misunderstand me when I see you with her."

"Dad, what does that have to do with Ainsley?"

"Ck, you're insensitive!" answer his father with a sniff.

Damian was silent, for some reason he was reminded of the man who was chasing Ainsley at that time. Did that guy put his heart on Ainsley?

"Here come out, Daddy wants to call your sister!" said father.

"Dad, don't you mind not Mayumi staying here for a while?" ask Damian to make sure.

"No, but you can't get too close to her if you're just friends!"

"I know, thanks Dad."

Jager just nodded, can't be like this. His desire to make Ainsley Smith as a son-in-law could be further from expectations. He should discuss this with his daughter. Maybe they can make plans together.

The phone was taken after Damian came out of the room, hopefully his daughter has a solution and a plan. Without wasting any time, Jager contacted his daughter Vivian. He also saw the circumstances because he did not want his son to hear their talk.

"What's up, Dad?" ask Vivian.

"You know? Your brother brought a woman home" his father said.

"really?" Vivian sounded surprised and in disbelief.

"For what Daddy lied to you!"

"Then? Why does Daddy sound unhappy?" ask daughter.

"Of course not! Daddy doesn't want Ainsley to misunderstand seeing them both later!"

Vivian chuckled, it seems like her father really wanted Ainsley as his son-in-law but the two of them? Her brother was busy with his world, while Ainsley was too. Whether they have feelings or not, no one knows.

"Dad, maybe they're not a match" Vivian said.

"If you don't match, I'll match them!" answer father.

"How?"

"Daddy think about it!"

"Dad, don't do anything silly."

"No, just wait for it."

"Listen Dad, I heard that Ainsley was being chased by someone and now Big Brother is bringing a girl home, if they are both in a match and have feelings for each other then that's a good thing. They will feel jealous or something if one of them sees someone else or some kind of rival. So I don't think Daddy needs to do anything unnecessary to bring them closer."

"Hng, you're right too!" replied his father while grunting.

"So? Daddy knows not what to do?"

"Of course, Daddy's daughter is smart" replied his father.

"If so, good luck, Dad," said Vivian encouragingly.

"Definitely, don't underestimate this old man! your brother does suck, has no experience with women!" replied his father and rightly so because Damian had never been close to a woman he thought was special even he had never dated during his stay in Japan because of his busy life and now, he has never been, he is increasingly busy managing his father's company as well as the organization he leads.

Vivian only chuckles at the words of her father, an adult man who has never been in a relationship, very rarely and she does not believe but in fact, her brother is like that.

As their conversation ended, Jager smiled and there were plans in his brain. It seemed like she had to intervene to help her insensitive son. But whoever the soul mate of her son, Ainsley or Mayumi, she can't stop him.
