Brave Things

Brave Things
Part 12 Cloudy Dreams

He was still speechless as Jimin continued his sentence,

"Anna, meet me, this is my wife Luna, she wants to know how you're doing."

I felt nervous myself when Anna turned and looked at me, she turned her head as if trying to read the look on my face, which was amazing considering she was a patient with a mental disorder.

"My situation is not good." He laughed, then fell silent, then grabbed Jimin's hand quickly, making me jump in shock.

"They kept giving me medicine, I forgot who I was. Get me out of here!!" He whines at Jimin, letting the doll loose and holding Jimin's hand with both hands.

"You're gonna get well soon, I'm sure you can get through it." Jimin smiled at him and rubbed Anna's hand that was still clutching Jimin's palm.

I could see Jimin's sincere face helping and wanting Anna's health, even when Anna slammed her hand against the iron bed, she just laughed lightly.

Honestly, I feel jealous. Even with this poor woman I don't feel as lucky as she is.

He gets Jimin's attention intensely, he was once loved by Jimin, he once made Jimin happy.

While me? Don't know. I don't think I've ever made Jimin smile. I don't know if Jimin loves me, nor do you expect Jimin to love me as deeply as he loves Anna.

Like a telepathy, Jimin turned to me and said,

"He doesn't recognize me anymore."

Maybe it's a fuss to make me not worry about their relationship, asserting that there's nothing left between her and Anna, even the woman doesn't remember her figure anymore.

The doctor said Anna had been in 2 years of treatment and was still prone to meeting strangers, we were even very careful not to provoke Anna into a rampage and directly left her alone when she began to complain saying we were noisy.

Just a little upset Anna then the nurse will be back on standby with a sedative for her.

Concerned to see her, Jimin and I discussed how Anna's condition had not improved on our way back to where my sister was being treated.

Jimin said he put my sister here in addition to maximum care, so he could monitor them at once because he was placed in the same hospital as Anna.

We then found mom in the park near Anna's being treated, mom even handed out energy drinks until here? I'm looking for my sister's place of care at the end, and my mom always goes through the street where Anna is treated every day when she comes here, maybe she knows all the relatives who come to visit often.

"Where are you from?" Mother asked as she approached us waiting for her to finish distributing the drinks.

Before Jimin answered I hurriedly said, "Just look around, mom's been a long time."

Fortunately the mother was unsuspecting and only shouts innocence, then rushed to take us to go where she used to see Yeonjun and Yeonseok.

I saw them from across the glass, facing directly into the room where they were both being treated.

Yeonseok was asleep while Yeonjin ate the fruit that the nurse had cut off. Even just by looking at them from behind the glass, my mother can smile widely.

Mom took Jimin along the way, not stopping to thank her daughter-in-law who would bother to help her here.

I am grateful to have decided to marry Jimin despite sacrificing my entire life, our family situation was very dependent on him.

At this point Mother seemed to no longer care about her own circumstances, she did not even realize that until almost afternoon like this she had not had lunch.

With a little bit of coercion from me, and a little advice from Jimin, we managed to get him to eat right in the hospital canteen.

I wanted to go buy mom's gear to put in the house she rented, mom said she washed her clothes by hand, she didn't have a thick blanket either. I plan to buy her a washing machine, a blanket, and all the things she needs to live there.

Besides, I feel bad to see Jimin who has no rest after driving far away. Given that Mom also would not want to take me home before sunset, we finally told mom to go home first.

Our journey still discusses how my sister is doing, how long it will take until they can get out of here and so on,

until we finally reached the area where Anna's room was being treated.

"Patient 506 episodes!" Shouted the nurses at the guard station at his colleagues who immediately scattered, going to the room.

506? Anna's room?

I saw that Jimin had walked forward leaving me still confused by the hospital situation that suddenly rumbled when we passed.

He headed for Anna's room, apparently still caring and worried about the girl. I followed him slowly, far behind so as not to obstruct the health worker who was passing by.

As soon as I saw, Anna rampaged in screaming. Some officers are preparing to take emergency injection devices that are specifically used when patients suddenly rampage.

The nurse was still trying to contain her tantrums and tried to put straps on Anna's legs, hands, body and forehead so as not to get out of bed. While waiting for her sedative to work, all the nurses still held back Anna's thrashing body and raved incoherently.

'RETURN MY SON!!!'

Or, or,

'SAVE ME FROM THE RAPIST!'

His screams echoed through this hallway. Sounds so sad and surprising, because honestly, I don't know what happened to him until he was exposed to a mental disorder like this.

Jimin just showed me that Anna was a complete mental disorder, proving this wasn't just her wits to throw Anna here so that her voice wouldn't be considered valid at the trial, that she really needs treatment.

Anna slowly started to weaken, but I still saw her trying to counteract the effects of the medicine on her body. He still shook his head strongly, trying to release the strap that was holding his body.

The officer let it go knowing he wouldn't have enough power even if his strap had been released. The number of nurses in his room has also decreased, there are only a few nurses who are in charge of treating wounds on his head.

I then approached Jimin who was stepping in, approaching the weakly lying Anna, close enough that I could hear the rough snort being let out by the woman.

Their eyes meet each other, Anna finally realizes Jimin's presence and recognizes him.

The look in his eyes seemed to emit a look of resentment full of anger, making Jimin stop stepping leaving a distance of about 4 steps from the mattress where the woman was laid.

"You...

I hope you will never be a father!!!" Anna hissed cursing at Jimin who was speechless peeking nearby.

"Suster help me. This man raped me when I was pregnant!! She was in a fit of heart to see me pregnant and raped me so rudely. Help me and my daughter sisters!!" He cried awkwardly as he held the arm of the nurse who was treating his wound.

I really couldn't believe all the words I heard, still silent about processing what Anna had shouted just now while pointing at Jimin. The female nurse tried to hug and calm Anna who was actually still hysterical even though there was no energy.

After being silent, I walked backwards, walked out of the room and left Jimin with them in that place.

I want to run as far away as I can after hearing what the problem might be, the thing that Jimin never told me, or even the thing he was trying to cover up?

I know my thinking is a complete mess when I can picture myself in Anna's position... Depression, losing a baby, and hating Jimin who became the mastermind for the terrible calamity he experienced.

Maybe what Jackson said is true, maybe Jimin is what makes the woman sick like this.

Losing a baby on her own must have been painful, plus the fact that she couldn't fight for justice for the baby and herself in the eyes of the law.

If I were to become Anna, maybe I wouldn't be able to survive this long, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself.

It is more than imagining seeing my lover doing well after what happened to me, then seeing her that I love easily get married and move on with life happily with another woman. Leaving me, a bar, shattered into oblivion not recognizing the world.

And I know, I'd be exactly like Anna if it happened to me, maybe worse.

My family has no money and no power, Jimin will win easily without any criminal punishment at all, and I will end up in a rut for killing myself miserably.

I really didn't want to think about it that far, but my brain kept turning its shadows clearly, which seemed to warn me to prepare for the calamity that would soon befall me in the future.

I tried to forget it, thinking it was all an illusion, to the point that I unconsciously squeezed and pulled my hair tight, sitting behind the lush garden where I stopped walking.

A hand grabbed my wrist, Jimin has already caught up with me here.

"Luna, listen to me! You okay?"

Jimin patted me on the cheek slowly, trying to wake me up from the panic attack I just had.

"J-jimin.." I looked at him with tears in my eyes.

I don't want to believe anything I've heard today, I want to believe that Jimin is not a bad person, a person who is capable of killing innocent children just out of sheer lust. Jimin isn't that evil.

"Please tell me it's not true." I begged him.

He had no idea how much I wished I could hear the sentence that the woman was lying, the woman was gibbering and making up.

My world stopped spinning, as Jimin grabbed my hand to hold and just said,

"Luna, I'm sorry."
