Tonight Jimin takes me to the company gala dinner. He told me all of a sudden from the time of the event, I was worried because I felt I did not have decent clothes and was confused about how to dress.
But it turned out that this afternoon Jimin sent stylists and makeup artists to our penthouse, within two hours I went from a bad duck to a beautiful goose.
It's been a long time since I've met so many people. After I got married I just met Jimin and the guy who delivered the ingredients home. Just those two guys.
"Just relax, they're just my coworkers, don't bite." Said Jimin who probably felt my uneasiness before entering the ballroom.
I wrapped my hand around Jimin's arm tightly, although these shoes were comfortable to wear but still I was afraid of slipping, I felt gambling with my own balance in shoes this high.
Jimin took me around getting acquainted with people. My job is to introduce myself in Mandarin, occasionally Jimin will tell me that his co-workers are saying a word of praise and I will immediately say thank you in Mandarin.
Due to the language limitations, this lively and luxurious party felt lonely and gloomy to me. I was flaunted here and there by Jimin but no one could talk to me. At a time like this I regretted my situation that often skipped mandarin class because of sleep.
"Finally, I'll introduce you to this guy" said Jimin, embracing my waist and taking me to a table near the podium.
"He's Korean, an alumni of yours, both Yonsei universities,"
Why not introduce me to someone who speaks Korean. I was almost tired of dying and introducing the Korean people to be the last agenda. I let out a bad breath.
"You're gonna have a chat with him because I have to get on the podium in a few minutes." Jimin looked at his watch while taking me walking towards one of the tables.
"Have you finished sending your wife to the whole party?" Saying that person in Korean, it feels great to be able to hear Korean directly from someone other than Jimin.
Jimin smiled and ignored the salty question, "Luna, introduce Jackson, CTO at our company."
The man reached out his hand and said "It's nice to meet you, Luna. I'm Jimin's underling in the office." Smilingly.
I welcomed his hand out, while Jimin snorted and rolled his eyes at Jackson's statement.
"I'm Luna, Jimin's wife." I replied with a smile from Jackson.
"It's only natural that Jimin hastily married you, you're this beautiful, Jimin must be afraid that you might change your mind." We laughed at his guy, though,
"if I had come on your wedding vows yesterday, I would have interrupted and foiled the show." Jackson and I were still laughing when Jimin smacked Jackson's shoulder with a fist.
When Jimin took the podium, me and Jackson were still engrossed in telling stories. Little did I know that he was a talented alumni of GPA 4.00 from Yonsei. I also just found out that he is the former president of a student organization in Yonsei,
Quickly his face is not foreign, the picture of his face hung on the campus.
When she asked about the continuation of my college, I told her that I was on leave from college when I married Jimin.
"... great idea, you can continue your studies here. But I'm not sure Jimin will let you." He said with a serious face before me.
"Loh, even he told me to continue my studies here. I was just learning Mandarin, so Jimin used to keep me out." I admit, I had a little trouble getting out of the house without Jimin supervision, I even went shopping by writing down what I wanted to buy, then Jimin hired a delivery man to deliver it home.
"He could have put you in a Korean church here, but he left you locked up at home. Jimin really hasn't changed." Jackson laughed as he looked at Jimin who spoke on the podium full of prestige.
"Did your max not change?" Askaqua. The problem is I really don't know how Jimin is. We're not that close to asking each other the past either.
"No, he's a bossy guy, so boss." Answer lightly,
"look your husband is looking at us. It seems like he's starting to regret his decision to make you friends here." Continue with laughter.
Jimin did look at me and Jackson when his turn to talk was replaced by someone else, I saw him tilt his head and look at us cynically.
I think he was worried that Jackson was talking about him, so I rushed to find a way to make friends with Jackson.
I pulled out my phone casually, trying not to provoke Jimin by putting my phone flat on the table where we were standing.
"Can we exchange mobile numbers?" I asked Jackson who had just served the person who approached him.
I keep Jackson's number under Lily's name, just in case Jimin never opens my phone. I was afraid that if I suddenly messaged in front of Jimin and read to him I messaged with Jackson's co-worker.
I'm nothing. I just wanted to know how Jimin was from his close friends, Jackson said they built this business together, from the start of a joke at the bar over drinks, he said, it is a reality with more than 300 employees in one building.
Jackson must know a lot of things.
Good thing I've exchanged numbers with Jackson, because when Jimin came back, he cut the space between me and Jackson by standing between us, separating me and Jackson.
His hands were tightly coiled around my waist, even to the point of being silvery. We saw the performance on stage in silence. Why do I feel like cheating behind her.
----
"You should know how to behave in front of people." Jimin said as we got into the car on our way back to the penthouse. He pressed the button in the car that made the back seat where we were sitting, and the driver's seat Jimin became a barrier.
This seems to be our first fight after more than a month of marriage.
"When I left with Jackson, it felt like you forgot the fact that you came there as my wife." He spoke in a low but demanding tone.
"We're just talking to normal." I squeaked, even though Jimin said his teething in a soft voice somehow I was pounding even more. Fear of being thrown out of the car.
"To have to whisper in front of people?" Jimin looked at me with an annoyed face. This expedition was the first he showed in front of me, of course I was shocked.
"You're lucky under the dark and only on a bright stage. Imagine if people could see your interactions with Jackson." He returns his logic to me, which he really doesn't care about. All I care about is how I know Jimin's ins and outs. I'm his wife but I feel like the person he's least familiar with.
"I'm sorry." Reply slowly.
"You don't seem to mean it." Jimin threw away his face.
I grabbed his arm that was propped up on the chair, grasped it at my own initiative and said softly, "i'm really sorry to have done that, I promise I won't be repeated again."
"Give me your phone." Jimin reached out the hand I had just held into a asking gesture.
I'm so grateful I kept Jackson's name with a girl's name because Jimin was checking my contacts and call logs, she asked
"Where do you keep Jackson's cell phone number?" With a cold tone.
I was surprised, how did he know me and Jackson were exchanging numbers? Though I pulled out my phone when he was off guard, he also did not have time to chat with Jackson behind my back, so there was no way Jackson would complain.
"Huh? I don't have the number." I answered acting as if I didn't know, I felt my voice tremble when I was lying, but I hope Jimin doesn't realize it.
Jimin looked at me, until I was awkward and said, "i really don't exchange phone numbers with him." With high notes.
He sighed, "I'm sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable, I know you think I'm overrated." he said making me feel guilty, making me feel guilty,
"I'm like this for your own sake, Jackson's a cunning madman challenge. The technology ability is above average. I don't want anything bad to happen to you." Soft talk. I felt even more guilty as he showed a worried look at me.
"Then why did you introduce her to me?"
"Because I feel guilty seeing you moody at the party, I'm sorry you don't have a conversation partner. I thought at least you had a friend to talk to when I got on the podium" he replied in a raised voice.
"You can think of me as exaggerated, but I forbid you from getting too close to Jackson." Final words.
"All right, I understand." Reply obediently.
"I'm gonna do something so you have a friend here." Jimin then rubbed my head,
I just hope Jackson doesn't have a big mouth and tells Jimin that if I ask for his phone number, if he does, it looks like I'm going to be a widow.
