Broken Sword's

Broken Sword's
Ch. 19: Hunting Rabbits

Baramun's wounds had indeed healed, just that losing one of the horns had become strong evidence that the demon race should not be too arrogant. A weak human who was good at fighting could injure him without even divine power!

Kuro stared directly. "That's what he said?"

"My King, it never hurts to be careful. Our race has been hiding inside the Droid valley all the time to train but we also forget that there will still be stronger people out there."

Knocking on the edge of the armrest of the chair, Kuro thought calmly. "That kid named Fang, what else did he say?"

Baramun was a little relieved. Kuro has started to believe, this is great.

"Human named Albert will come after we lose take the lower region. Bringing more than a hundred men to battle, all the traps set in can be conquered and they managed to snatch away all of our goods!"

A loud bang came from the front. Baramun looked up, it turned out that the throne chair had been split. Kuro stood firmly among the rubble of the chair, looking even more lonely.

"The kid showed evidence?"

Baramun tells the story of Fang knowing the original Totem form from Kuro's name and also his. Their identity as demons was not easy to know but Fang, who was less than five years old, was able to draw their identity.

"Then what should we do?"

The silence lasted for a while.

Baramun wanted to express but still hesitated.

"Say!"

"My King, this advice is a little absurd but also the most reasonable and easy to do. Fang's boy advised us to integrate with the humans in the lower region."

Kuro's face was pale. "What do you mean?! It's not what I thought it was, is it?"

"really. Our race could have approached the humans in the lower regions and married. Have children with them and live there."

Kuro's head is dizzy.

What a strange thing is this! They are demons, should not marry those who are not weaker.

As if to find out that Kuro had become doubtful, Baramun who was kneeling on the floor mentioned some of the advantage points Fang explained.

"Please think of my king. Seizing the lower regions is not necessarily our success, our people may sacrifice many casualties. Marriage and having children, as long as our race and humanity agree, living together is a certainty!"

"You're leaving. I'll hold a meeting with the other generals and ministers."

Baramun got up from his knees. "Yes my king."

The two transparent colored stones had been treated as best as possible by Fang. At the end of the year when winter arrives, Fang, dressed in thick clothes, is taken to the forest to learn to hunt by Gana and some of the village men.

After winter, not many wild plants or fruits grow. Livestock can also not be killed to always be used as food, so Buwin proposed to every head of the family who wants to join to hunt together.

What they planned to hunt was not a wild beast but rather a rabbit or a partridge nesting in their nest. Fang who was watching how the wooden trap was set in front of the rabbit nest entrance couldn't wait to summon a group of rabbit couples inside to get out.

Fang did not take heart and instead asked another thing. "Dad, when can we eat rabbit meat? I've never eaten!"

"More or tomorrow morning we'll be back to see. Let's set a trap somewhere else." Gana said then began to set a trap in front of another rabbit nest hole.

Buwin who set up five traps at once that day felt his waist bone start to fatigue. "Today is enough to get here! Come back before the afternoon. Winter is very vulnerable, wild beast.." Not finishing the last sentence, the most sensitive Buwin shouted. "Everybody get on the tree!!!!!"

Gana took Fang's collar. Climbing in seconds and the sounds of hordes of wild boars drew closer. A dozen men who had also managed to climb up the tree began to pale. This wild boar is not running after them but there is a lion hunting!

Gana's hand that hugged Fang tighter.

The boar continued to run away, some of the traps that were attached were also kicked until they were damaged by the behavior of the stupid pig. Fang muttered, damn it!

My rabbit meat .·´ ̄`(> ⁇ <)´ ̄`.

No one dared to go down even though the lion had managed to catch his prey and left the rest of the meat.

Maybe the beast could come back. And half an hour later the lion was back with his group. Buwin who was in the tree close to the pig carcass gulped. Hugging the tree branch stronger, Buwin hoped the morning would come soon.

Fang yawned repeatedly without a sound. Gana puts Fang on his lap and lets his son sleep. "You're asleep. I'll keep watching."

Fang nodded, closed his eyes and fell asleep. Gana patted her son's head proudly. The child is not crying or complaining. Like a big man, Fang was very patient and took care of the situation.

Everyone sleeps on the branches last night. In the morning, the pig carcass had turned into a pile of bones. Buwin went down first to look around and whistle for everyone to come down. "Take all the rabbit and rooster catches. We're going home!"

Fortunately, there are still many traps that are not broken. Fang held onto a single one-kilo chicken, his clear eyes expressing his wish. Gana laughed, "just tell your mother what you want to eat."

Everyone came out of the forest alive unharmed. Buwin also warned that they could not go to the forest anymore. There are lions, maybe there are other beasts left. "Please look at safety first. Eating meat is good, but if wounded or killed, the family will suffer."

Fang did not expect Buwin to always be this wise. "Uncle, you're pretty cool."

Buwin clucked, he was always wise in leading his own village. This kid must be making fun.

Returning home, Aira who had no idea what her husband and son were going through was very happy to see the catch. There were three chickens and five rabbits. This is enough to eat for half a month in winter.

"Mom, ibuuuu. Let's make some rabbit satay."

Aira nodded in agreement.

Gana did not rest, took all the catches for slaughter and peeled off her skin/feather. Winter is easy to store food, no need to worry if the food becomes damaged or smelly.

Aira heats the water, flushing out all the animals that have been peeled to remove any debris. Take out the knife and pull out all the jars.

Fang, who saw all the organs, forbade Aira to throw away the rabbit's heart. "Mom, why was it dumped?!"

"It's bitter."

Ouwf. Fang is no longer banned.
