On the way, Han Shu and Yu Jie would often encounter beasts as well as other participants. However, Han Shu was able to handle it easily.

Every time Han Shu killed a savage beast, he told Yu Jie to take the beast's core. And also took from the other participants he had defeated.

The more they went inside, the flattened streets that could be traversed the more invisible they became. The streets were increasingly filled with long grasses and rocks so as not to allow Han Shu to pass through with his wheelchair.
