Chapter 605
Myles never expected Diane to fool him with this tactic.
The Palmer Group has publicly announced that it wants to change industry standards and set their own local industry standards. They even cut off all ties with the various sales channels they had worked so hard to connect with.
Everyone thinks that Palmer Group will ensure their new product can be classified as a Band 1 product and fight fairly with the international brand.
But in the end?
It's all a trick!
Diane's real goal is to quickly overtake lower-class consumers and target those with the lowest purchasing power but the largest share of the population.
"I don't know what to call you smart or cunning, Diane."
Myles shook his head. He was shocked and a little angry at the same time. He didn't expect to be fooled by the Palmer Group.
He had gotten into their trap so easily.
This is something that has never happened in years of running a business.
Before meeting his opponent, they had fought and he lost.
Currently, Palmer Group's new products have a large share of the low-end market, and it is unlikely to find a rival in Starling City.
This market is completely different from that targeted by international brands like L'Oreal.
They make high-end products and are targeted at high spenders. The prices are high, but their sales have never been as high as the low-end market.
After all, ordinary people were the majority in this world.
Myles is not happy because the Palmer Group product has worked well and turned things around. He was unhappy because he felt that someone like himself should not be deceived by such a simple act.
It feels like an insult.
For him, the Palmer Group is a weak company and he just needs to use international standards to beat them, but they are playing him instead.
"Mr Boyd, I didn't expect Diane to be so capable. No one saw this coming."
The secretary was shocked too. No one could have foreseen all of this, and now the results are in sight. Nothing Myles does now will make a difference.
"Diane's going to hold a press conference tomorrow?" asked Myles without any expression on his face.
"really. He'll give some details about the Palmer Group's operations and their boutique opening."
The secretary took a deep breath. Palmer Group actions are rare in the industry. The Palmer Group has refused to work with other retailers and chose to open their own boutiques as well as sell their products on their own websites at the same time.
No one has ever seen a business model like this before.
"Call that reporter to come here."
"Yes, Mr. Boyd."
The secretary leaves the office.
Myles paced around his office for a while as he thought hard.
He finally walked back to his desk and pulled out a business card. He got this from one of his retailers.
Myles immediately dialed the number without hesitation. He had made his decision, so he would not drag her out.
"Hello, Diane Palmer speaks."
Someone on the other line lifts.
"Hello," Myles spoke in a low voice and made himself sound mature and charming. "Miss Palmer, my name is Myles Boyd. I'm the head of the Jalak L'Oreal City office."
Diane instantly knew who it was when she heard his name.
The person who secretly ensured that the products of Palmer Group were classified as Band 3!
Chapter 606
"I was surprised Mr. Boyd called me," Diane replied calmly. "Why does Mr. Boyd have any advice for my company's products?"
Myles listened to the beautiful voice over the phone and laughed as she put her feet on her office desk.
"You're angry, aren't you?" he asked calmly. "Because I asked the industry trade association to label your product as a Band 3 product, right?"
Dian said nothing.
“According to international standards, Palmer Group products are actually only in Band 3, so you can't blame me for that,” Myles said. "But I have a way to make Palmer Group products classified as Band 1 products. Not sure if you're interested?"
"Oh really? If you have a good way, I'll listen."
Myles got straight to the point.
"One of the companies that sets this international standard is L'Oreal, and I think you can understand that our company has high standards for everyone, not just for the Palmer Group." Myles continued in a derogatory voice, "What I'm saying is that no locally made product is good enough to reach Band 1 standards!"
He tells Diane directly that not only are Palmer Group products a waste to her, all local brands are just as trashy.
No one can compete with international brands.
"But there's a way to achieve this" he laughed. "As long as the Palmer Group becomes a subsidiary of L'Oreal, then you can go ahead and say that all your products have been manufactured according to L'Oreal standards. That way, all of your products will be classified as Band 1."
Diane felt like snorting. Why would Myles want to make Palmer Group a subsidiary of L'Oreal?
How ambitious!
"Mr Boyd, you're so funny." Diane went straight to the point, "But this joke of yours isn't funny at all. If you don't have anything else to say, I'll hang up now."
"Miss Palmer, if you want Palmer Group products to always stick as a Band 3 product, it's really a joke. Consider my words."
Myles hung up.
He laughed coldly. He's got a lot of ways to deal with the Palmer Group. International standards alone were enough to kill them!
He will ensure that the Palmer Group products will be aimed at the lower-end market forever and will never enter the high-end market. Palmer Group will never be able to truly rise to become an international brand because of this!
And that's what the Palmer Group expects, isn't it?
Myles knew that once he took control of the Palmer Group, they wouldn't know what else to do. So far, it seems like Diane is smart, but not experienced enough and doesn't know how to balance.
"Mr Boyd, Mr. Jameson, the reporter, is here," the secretary entered with a black-framed bespectacled man.
"Mr Boyd."
Myles waved his hand for his secretary to leave. Then he had the reporter sit down and smile while pouring tea for him.
"I need you to help me. As for the remuneration, it will be double the last amount I gave you. You know what to do, right?"
The reporter's eyes lit up. He had earned this much money so many times now!
…
On the other hand, Diane had just hung up the phone and was rather amused.
Myles suddenly called him because he wanted Palmer Group to become a subsidiary of L'Oreal?
Where did he get this confidence?
"Because you disagree with this, this guy is going to do some stunts right now." Ethan had heard the entire conversation and there was no expression on his face. It was as if he felt nothing. After all, he had already anticipated that Myles would try something like that. "I'm suddenly so excited."
Diane glanced at Ethan.
The press conference the next day is Ethan's idea, as Ethan says that someone will definitely come to make trouble, but it will be Palmer Group's best chance to fight back!
