Malang 01.29
Midnight.
For some reason these eyes are so hard to shut, even the moon tonight shines so brightly, as if its light knew the fret I was feeling.
I looked at the moon this time with a look of hope. I wish my life would shine even for a second.
Man never has any satisfaction in himself. There is always something that can be a source of complaint.
Huhhhhhhh!
I took a rough breath, hoping that the burden in my heart would be wasted even if it was just a little. Unfortunately it was just an empty wish that would never happen in the real world.
"You haven't slept?" Araf suddenly came and surprised me from behind, his hand holding a cup containing warm coffee.
Yep... I need coffee. It seems, this is one of the reasons I can get this close to Araf. He could know my way of thinking before I even expressed it.
"Is there anything that bothers you? Just tell me, I promise I won't tell anyone!" Continue Araf while putting the coffee cup that is still pumping hot steam in front of me.
"Nothing!" Short reply.
"There's nothing? Look at your face in the mirror, you look five years older." Guyon Araf chuckles.
Araf was indeed different from me, the once spoiled child turned into a jolly figure in just a matter of months.
While me? I who was once a jolly figure turned into a strange creature that could not smile anymore. Every thing has its reason to change, whether it's a good reason or a bad one.
"What do you think of this place?"
"This place is very comfortable." I replied without seeing Araf's face.
"Yes, you're right. This place is very comfortable. In Jakarta, we can get whatever we want without the hassle, but the calm feels very far away. If I could, I'd like to ask you to stay here. Unfortunately that's not possible, thousands of employees need you compared to I'm your best friend."
I grabbed the coffee cup that Araf had placed in front of me. I slowly began to gulp it down, a sweet and bitter taste that mixed into one soft caressing my tongue.
"I don't know what makes you change!" Connect Araf in a soft voice.
Uhuk.uk.Uhuk.
I was surprised, I choked on the coffee that almost entered my respiratory upset. All this time I never told anyone about my problems, then where did Araf know there was suffering still covering my heart?
Araf looked worried to see me coughing. Fortunately he said nothing.
"What's your max? You know, I'm the lazyest to talk about myself! There's nothing interesting I can share with you, and you already know everything about me."
"Yes, you're right too." Reply Araf quietly, after which he again gulped his coffee.
I'm so grateful that Araf didn't ask me anything. People say, telling your problems will reduce the burden on your heart. I have a different case, telling the burden of my heart is the same as opening an old wound.
I promised myself, if I find a lady I don't know her name and apparently it, I will definitely tell her everything. Not only Araf, but to all my family members as well.
"Is there no desire in your heart to find a better girl than Seren? I'm sure that woman already has another heart patch besides you!"
"I don't want it. Imagining Seren's betrayal gives me goosebumps."
"Come Alan... Forget Seren's betrayal." Said Araf again, this time he woke up from his sitting position while staring at the beauty of the full light.
"Or is there not another girl who lives in your heart?" Araf guessed the origin, his face looked curious.
I don't know what to answer to him!His curious attitude always gave him goosebumps.
"La. Youre right. Deep down, there was a girl who broke the peace of my day and night."
"Whatt? Who's she?" Araf asked as he walked towards me.
"I don't know who that girl is. Her faint face always adorns my dreams."
Araf looked at me with a look of pity, and such a gaze bothered me greatly.
Platyakk!
For the first time I smiled without coercion, seeing Araf's ling-ling face was like watching a comedy.
"I want to sleep! You should sleep too." I said to Araf while getting up from my sitting position. This is my first visit to the city of Malang, and this is also my first visit to the Kiai Hasan school. Everything felt memorable, as if this place had an old bond with me. I don't know, I don't know myself.
...***...
"You sure you don't want to stay again? I am so happy to meet you!" Araf looks moody, this is our first meeting after four months. Usually we chat through Vidio Call, but it is not enough to let go of our longing as a close friend who is usually tied up wherever we go.
"You're an adult, you should be acting your age." I said while chuckling.
Really, Araf's face looks funny.
When we are together, we really don't care about our growing age, sometimes we cry, smile, wail, or just vent our pent-up anger. Everything feels wonderful when we can share a sad and happy story with a confidant.
It's not that I don't trust Araf to share my sad story, it's just that I still don't trust myself to share the sad story.
If the story is happy then I'm the first one to share it.
"Did you mean it with your story last night?" Araf asked as he stared fixedly at my handsome face.
"M." mm." I reply slowly while nodding small.
"It turns out you're more pathetic than I am!" Said Araf while patting my shoulder.
"I love the woman who is clearly in front of my eyes! But you? He only appears in your dreams. Sounds like a drama, however, I hope your story ends happily." Araf said trying to strengthen myself.
I just nodded slowly, I also hope that what Araf said really happened in my real world.
"Master. Everything's ready, Mr. Dimas also asks you to get to the hotel." Bobby tried to remind.
"Please give this to Kiai Hasan, give my regards to her, I can't say goodbye to her because I'm in a hurry." I said as I thrust the white envelope at Araf.
I hugged Araf for a moment, and after he got into the car, Bobby himself was sitting on the steering wheel.
Araf waved his hand with a faint smile, not knowing when we would meet again after this farewell. However, I am very grateful, at least I can stay at Araf's office, this is a very rare occurrence.
...***...
Jakarta, this morning seems crowded by two-wheeled vehicles and four-wheelers snaking along the road. Iklima who was sitting in the steering chair also looked upset. Not just ten or twenty minutes. It's been more than an hour and a half, strangely the car that Iklima drives can be said not to move in the slightest.
"Is little lady hungry? If little miss is hungry, little lady can eat the food I prepared near Umm Fatimah." Said Iklima with a smile facing Fazila who is currently still busy with his Qur'an.
"Thank you, beautiful sister. Fazila had eaten Ummi's cooking in that nice house." Fazila said without making it up.
"Good house? Uhh... The apartment of Mr Alan!" Iklima said with a smile to me who was sitting on the right side of Fazila.
"Miss Iklima, I really don't understand why your boss gave us a ride home, ahhh... I'm sorry, did I miss the luxury apartment?" Ask me a curious.
"Our boss and Doctor Araf are best friends. Doctor Araf asked our boss for help to provide the best service to you on your first day in Jakarta." Claim without burden.
"Our boss is currently in Surabaya! If possible, he will meet you after his return to Jakarta." Say Claim again. This time the car we were riding in began to slowly split the road.
Meanwhile at a different venue, dozens of Hotel employees and staff gathered at the Loby Hotel waiting for the star of the event this afternoon.
"Welcome, Alan."
"Welcome, Alan."
Dozens of people bowed respectfully to me while saying the same words.
Money is really amazing, even parents who are the same age as Ade opa also ducked to pay respect to me.
Whatever treasure you have do not make it a tool to insult and humiliate others.
Araf said, I'm ice cold at the North Pole. As cold as I am, I will never insult others just because of the abundance of material possessions. Money does show its power, anyone can get to their knees because of it, but a pure and sincere soul in sharing will never show the power of his money to humiliate others whose status is far below his claiming to be rich.
Indeed, power exists to spread good, not spread evil like the disgraced Pharaoh.
