Half the Fallen Angels

Half the Fallen Angels
Episode 3: Fairy Girl

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!", the young man cried loudly until he saw his neck veins.

After that, the young man poured his body into the yellowing grass. Right next to him was a small shallow trench whose water was clear but flowing smoothly until it let out a whirring sound.

"Hadeuh, Some places I have been to, but there are only dead people everywhere" said the young man in a somewhat limp tone.

"Where else can I meet a living person?. Living alone in this vast world, I must be going crazy", continued the young man speaking to himself.

Two days had passed since he left the city. The young man had reached several places, and there was nothing he could find except the same circumstances as before.

This morning, the young man was so tangled. He drove last night. It is hard to accept the results he has. For days looking for someone who is still alive, but the results are nil. The young man was almost desperate.

The young man also woke up from the fall. Walk with his knees to the edge of a small trench. He dipped his face in the water, after a while, he lifted it up.

The young man stared at the water. Just for a moment, then the ripples fused together with the flowing water. In his gaze, he saw a faint reflection of himself on the surface of the water.

"Even about me I don't know anything."

The young man then got up. Intending to change the atmosphere, he walked following the water flow in the opposite direction, and left his motorbike standing on the edge of the yellow dirt path.

That direction led him slowly closer to the edge of the area that was numerous trees. The area was above a higher mound of land. From where the young man walked. He looked at the trees dry, the leaves yellowing.

The mound was as high as the young man's waist. He then jumped on it, and headed towards the area. There, he did not feel any moisture, except for his yellow foliage which blocked some sunlight from reaching him.

The young man walked through to the other side of the area. From there, he saw a road in the lower plains. That is a rather wide path and the edges grow grass that is less wide than the path.

The young man was astonished to see what was in front of him. From above where he stood, he saw fresh green grass adorning both sides of the path. He walked slowly, his eyes wide open, and his mouth was gaping.

The young man ran, and jumped down towards the road. He walked to the middle of the green grass, and dropped one of his knees, lowered his head as he touched the grass.

"It's really a living grass."

The young man raised his head and looked at all the grass. He looked to the left in turns. Then he turned back, the direction in which he came. One of his hands touched the ground, resting his body so as not to fall from his squatting position.

The young man also saw the yellowing grass, parallel and close to the green grass. The green and yellowed clump seemed to form a line extending from both sides. However, the lines were concave as if they were part of a circular line.

The young man walked to the other side. Cutting the trail, past the green grass. He walked up to the mound of land. There, he saw a green expanse of land, and shady trees. Among the trees were also flowers that grew wild.

The young man took a deep breath. He had just felt the shade brought by the moisture of the tree air. Then he went deeper and deeper, while enjoying the lively natural atmosphere.

After a while the young man walked over, knowing that he had come out of the small forest, and arrived at the other side.

"Whoaa!", the young man clucked in astonishment.

Seen a green expanse of airy land. On top of that green expanse, growing spaced innumerable dandelion flowers, almost filling every meter of the field area. At the same time, a gentle breeze blew the dandelions into the air.

The young man stepped forward. His eyes looked at the flowers flying in front of him. Sometimes his gaze followed where the flower was flying. Until one day, his eyes stopped on something he accidentally saw.

A girl was sitting on the rocks. The young man approached. Looked girl with long hair unraveling golden yellow. He wears long-sleeved white clothes. Light blue ribbon tie around his neck. Knee-length skirt. Then the light blue flower flip-flops he was wearing.

There was a yellow circle on his head.

The girl was blowing a dandelion on her right hand. Hugging a lot of dandelion flowers in the other hand.

The young man stopped at a certain distance. Pretty close. It was not long before the girl realized it and turned her head towards the man.

They stared at each other for a long time, the girl tilted her head.

"Haalo?", the girl tried to say hello.

"Hi?", the young man was still hesitant towards her.

"Ouh, can you see me??" said the girl in a high tone. The girl was surprised and stood up.

"You... Alive?", the young man was still standing glued.

"Of course I live. Hey, you can really see me!", the girl approached, surrounded him, watched him up and down. "And you're a human being" he continued.

"Of course I can see you. What's so weird about that?"

"Certainly weird. Humans should not be able to see me. That's what my grandfather said. Or... Did my grandfather lie to me?"

"I don't know. But, why shouldn't humans be able to see you?"

"Yes, it's because I'm a fairy" the girl pointed a halo above her head.

"Huh?. Hm, okay." The young man did not take him seriously.

To the young man, the girl before him was just an ordinary teenage girl playing around. From his stature he guessed that the girl was around 15-16 years old.

"Oh yeah, what's your name?"

The young man was momentarily confused. He doesn't know what to answer. A moment later, he quickly recalled the rubber band he was wearing.

"Devan.", the young man named himself devan.

"So Devan, what are you doing here?, everyone in Gardum village is busy working. I see, you are like a 20-year-old man who should be busy working as well", the girl said with an innocent expression and look.

"You know little girls, talking about someone's age before asking is not a good thing. And also, haven't you introduced yourself yet?", Devan smiled at the girl, he spoke with a slight bow of his body forward, after which he returned to his normal standing.

" Oh yeah?. No one told me about it" said the girl, thinking about Devan's words. "And hey, I'm not a little girl. You know, I'm 16 this year." Continue the girl.

The girl thought for a moment.

"You're right. I think I did the wrong thing. I'm sorry, Devan" said the girl, bowing her body in front of Devan.

Devan showed a happy sign on his face. Once again he did not expect, the girl in front of him was quick to understand. Previously he thought the girl was the stubborn type, because he liked to talk.

"It's okay. I'm pretty glad you can understand. So lady, may I know your name?"

"Include Mr. Devan. I'm Luna. I was 16 years old", he said politely. "So Mr Devan, may I know how old you are, as well as what you're doing here?"

Devan was flattered, Luna followed her language style to ask something. However, at the same time he also felt a bit insinuated, throwing back his language style to ask the thing he was concerned about earlier. Devan also felt he could not feel shunned. To Devan, Luna was a plain girl again polite.

"No need to wear 'master', just call me Devan. I don't like stuff that's stiff. Instead, I will also call you Luna, how?", Devan finished his sentence with a smile.

"Okke, then I agree. I also have trouble keeping acting like that. So Devan, how old are you and what are you doing here?. Daritadi you haven't answered this question. Te-he.", Luna then smiles cynically, with a slight mocking laugh at Devan.

("So soon this girl changed", Devan said in his heart.)

This time Devan felt toyed with after a moment and then flattered. At the same time, the plain and polite Luna suddenly vanished from her mind. It even changed into a rather sneaky Luna. At the same time, Devan became convinced, Luna's words earlier and her innocent expression, only to trick Devan into understanding him and lure Devan into acting pretentious.

Devan breathed a little longer. He tried to cover up his annoyance, and maintain his adult attitude.

"My age is 20" said Devan. He doesn't even know his own age. "I wander, I come from far away. Today I was just amusing myself, walking into a small forest, then, I accidentally found this place."

"Comforting yourself?. Are you hit by a difficult problem?", said Luna wanted to know. "Oh yes Devan, would you if we talked on the way?, I should be back before noon."

Devan nodded, "Well, I'll drive you."

Along the way, Luna took small leaps and bounds, occasionally blowing a dandelion with her right hand. Even so, Luna continued to listen to Devan. Sometimes Luna looked at Devan as she spoke.

Devan also only looked at Luna with a faint smile. For Devan, it was a natural behavior for a girl his age.

"So Devan, you have a hard problem?"

"I don't even know what the problem is, so I can't measure it. I've seen lifeless people everywhere I've been. I could hardly stand it, so I took a walk to entertain myself", said Devan simply, so that Luna could easily understand it.

"Looks like I get it. Death is sad and scary. I am also afraid of death. You know, this is the first time I've come down to earth. I assigned my grandfather to do something."

At that time, Actually Luna still did not catch the true meaning of Devan's words. Luna thought Devan was afraid of death just as she felt.

"Oh yes?, what task did grandfather give you?", Devan decided to follow Luna's game. Because Luna's thinking is sometimes a bit sneaky, so she relents first to understand Luna's mindset.

"He told me to pick up the soul of someone who had died. At first I refused. Because I'm scared. But my grandfather said he was a very good man. I will see a beautiful garden, and smell the fragrance of the soul. That's why I want to."

"Then, are your grandfather's words true?"

"really. I went to a human funeral. I'm actually afraid, you know devan, I really try to fight my fear so I want to come in!", said Luna enthusiastically, she expressed her efforts with her body gestures.

"Oooooh.", respond to Devan by playing his intonation.

"Yeah!. And I finally made it in. Keep going, I actually saw, one grave that he green himself. On top of that mound of earth, there were a variety of beautiful flowers that I had never seen before."

Devan pretends to think a little, "Hmmm, really?"

"Yes. It's hard to believe for me too. Though the man had just finished being buried this morning, why is it so fast growing flowers huh?."

"That's something I can hardly believe" Devan responded.

"Hey Devaan, you have to believe me!", suddenly Luna jumped in front of Devan. Luna then walked back and continued her words. "Because the man in the tomb, it turns out to be the man whose soul I must deliver to the sky."

"I'm worried, don't you wrongly bring the soul.", Devan smiled cynically.

"Elysia. His name is Elysia said my grandfather, the soul I must carry. Where I might be wrong. I've confirmed it, the name that grandfather mentioned with the name on the graveyard's tombstone. It says Elysia Ai..... Aira?. Is it true Aira?. I forgot his last name.

"Elysia.", Devan mentioned the name, he felt familiar. His heart felt familiar, but not understanding, Devan ignored him.

Luna walked back to Devan's side.

"I just found out that if a good man dies, he can grow beautiful flowers. If a fairy dies, it simply becomes a grain of light, flies, and then disappears in the air. That's why I'm afraid to die."

Devan only responded to a smile, he was impressed by Luna's last words. What Luna said, to Devan felt real, she no longer even cared about what Luna said.

A moment later, suddenly luna's steps came to a halt. He was amazed to see the situation in front of him. A moment later Devan who was walking by his side also stopped.

"Luna?", call Devan.

"Devan. The grass.all yellow."
