Chapter 42 - The Conscience -

Ibu Siti accidentally found out that Binar was difficult to get pregnant. Knowing that Ibu Siti increasingly dislikes Binar, the reason is of course because she wants to pet a grandchild while Binar can not give it.

That's why Ibu Siti secretly met Binar. The woman wants to give understanding to the son-in-law that a child is very necessary in a family.

"Mom does not want to talk," said Ibu Siti when Binar just served a drink.

"What's wrong, Mom?" tanya Binar did not understand.

"Look, I already know everything. I know you're having a hard time getting pregnant again. You know the purpose of marriage is to have children, but you can't give that to Blue. You understand that?"

"Dinar doesn't know what Mom meant." Said Binar trying to be relaxed.

"If you can't give Blue offspring you should be self-aware. Divorce or let Blue marry again." Mother Siti said so hot as if what she said was a very precarious thing.

Binar was silent, honestly this thing had crossed his mind. Since knowing that she had difficulty conceiving, Binar always wondered whether Albiru would be able to accept herself or would instead turn to look for offspring.

"Mother believes Blue thought about this too, or maybe she already has a candidate but because she still values you as a wife, she chose silence. I hope you'll be self-conscious soon." After saying the painful thing, Lady Siti immediately left.

Binar was still silent thinking about all the bad possibilities he would face. Her mother-in-law was right, however much Albiru's love for her did not rule out the possibility that she would be abandoned. Binar knew exactly how much Albiru wanted to have children.

Imagining Albiru divorcing him or even having another wife really hurt Binar so deeply.

Binar did not want to be in this position but God did not give him another choice. Binar wanted to give up, she was tired of all the trials in her married life.

...****************...

Albiru felt that something was wrong with Binar. His wife looked so moody and always daydreaming. Albiru knew that Binar was still sad about his current condition but seeing the blank stare of Binar, he was sure that something else was troubling him.

"Honey," call Albiru softly.

Binar turned his head, his gaze so sad that Albiru felt pain.

"Why? Is anyone sick?" ask Albiru carefully

Binar shook his head slowly looking reluctant to answer.

"Please, same story. I don't want to see you sad like this."

"I'm tired of Blue, tired of everything. Why did God give me this much ordeal? I can't do it, I'm tired." The rain was crying, it felt so stifling.

"Don't talk like that, God knows what's best for us. I'll always be there for you, don't give up." Albiru pulled Binar in his arms, letting his wife shed tears in her arms.

"If you're tired of facing me please tell me, let me back off." Said Binar interrupted his cry, although the weight of Binar still say it.

"I will not give up, no matter what circumstances you will always accept. Please don't give up. We must be equally strong in this, we must believe that someday God will give us the best."

Binar did not reply, the woman was only able to cry. Her mother-in-law's words this afternoon were still clear in her mind. Is he ready if Albiru one day chooses to remarry? inner wondering.

...****************...

The next day Mother Ina came to visit Binar. The middle-aged woman missed her daughter very much.

Mother Ina had not yet spoken her greetings, a voice she knew sounded from within. It was the voice of Mother Siti who somehow made Mother Ina undo her intention to say hello but stand still behind the door.

"So how are you thinking? What are your options Binae?" ask Mother Siti.

"Binar won't choose Mom, let Blue choose." Binar answered quietly but Mother Ina could still hear.

"When are you ready Blue divorce you or are you willing to see Blue marry again?" Mother Siti's question made Mother Ina surprised.

"Whatever choice Blue will Binar accept with sincerity." Binar replied quietly, the woman looks tired.

"Good, because you can't give Blue descent so you have to be ready for whatever happens in the future."

Mother Ina could not stand the painful speech. With wide steps the woman entered the house and pulled the hand of Mother Siti who looked so surprised to see her presence.

"I didn't think you were so mean to my son." Mother Ina said angry.

Binar also seemed so surprised, but there was something she was most worried about that her mother knew what she was hiding.

"Mother," call Binar quietly.

"You sit down Binar, let Mother finish." Binar immediately complied because Mother Ina seemed not to want to be denied.

"Your child is difficult to get pregnant, teach me to provide solutions." Ibu Siti said so casually not caring about Mother Ina who looked so angry.

"Hard to get pregnant doesn't mean you can't get pregnant. You are not God who can guess the future, it could be next month or a few months later Binar will get pregnant."

"Ask your daughter what the doctor said. Your child is having a hard time getting pregnant, her uterus is broken!" Mother Siti exclaims to challenge Mother Ina.

"If you forget, there is a God above all else. Whatever the doctor says will mean nothing if God wills otherwise."

"Until when does Blue have to wait to be given offspring?"

"Do you realize what you're saying? You're a woman, what if the position is reversed. What if mas Latif divorces mbak or even marries another woman?"

"It has nothing to do with it.."

"Obviously, because we fellow women should use our conscience before we speak." Mother Ina immediately cut off Mother Siti's words intending to refute her words.

"And as a mother I want my child to have children." Said Mother Siti did not want to give up.

"And I as a mother would not accept my child being treated like this. It should be ashamed, because everything that happened to Binar was because of the actions of a child." Mother Ina was already unable to hold back her emotions, angrily the woman pointed at Mother Siti's face.

"Don't take Ella!" Mother Siti brushed off Mother Ina's hand angrily.

"I will still carry the name of my favorite child because he is the mastermind. It should be that the child who is experiencing this is not my child!"

"How dare you say that!"

"I wouldn't be afraid, if killing was innocent I'd make sure Ella just stayed the name!" The fizz of Mother Ina is so terrible that Mother Siti took a step back because she felt threatened.

"Once again you hurt my son, I will not remain silent. You better take good care of your daughter or you'll see she's devastated!" Threaten Mother Ina who after saying that immediately pushed Mother Siti out of the house.

Mother Ina turned and found Binar crying. Which mother's heart was unharmed seeing the fragile condition of her daughter. Mother Ina feels she failed to take care of her own daughter.
