Valex and the Corpse on the Lake

Dario was preparing that morning. He knocked on Julie's door. He was a bit anxious too because Julie was forcing him to come along. The journey to Valex by land is not so far away. But Julie is pregnant, too risky.

Julie opened the door to her room. He was dressed and looked ready.

"Okay, wait 5 minutes and I'll be ready" he said again and then closed the door and locked it. Heart's pounding.

Dario looked astonished and confused. But he complied and waited for her on the sofa in the living room. Mr. Roy was seen delivering the waiter to put the needed items in the car.

"Remember, all rooms are equipped with CCTV that I can access anywhere. Make sure this apartment remains safe and hidden from people out there. Don't let anyone else in" Dario told Roy.

Roy nodded in understanding. The new job is easy and the pay is expensive. He is a former wrestler and fighter. Shan recruited him.

Meanwhile, in her room, Julie is folding her marriage agreement and DNA test results. He hid it in the bag he was going to wear. A camera memory card containing her wedding documentation was also hidden in the bag.

A medium-sized suitcase containing clothes he had prepared yesterday. Roy took her to the car.

Julie seems a little nervous. He was afraid to forget something. The phone is already, the new phone card is already. Yesterday he asked Athena to buy him a new cell phone number. Ah, his savings book.

Julie opened the drawer and put all her account books in. There's nothing left. All of his personal documents are safe in the bag. He nodded to himself and then left the room.

They went down the elevator and into the basement. Roy opened the door.

Dario made sure everything was ready and the gray car belonging to Shan's wife slid away.

Suresh City is not awake. The sunrise has not yet appeared.

"Are you sure this road trip is safe for your pregnancy?" ask Dario again.

"Yes, safe. Take it easy" said Julie.

"Let's stay at Valex. My aunt and uncle are guarding the house. The place has been cleaned and they can prepare dinner later. I also told them not to tell Mama about our arrival. Mom hasn't been back to Valex in a long time. The house will only make him sad because he misses Papa" Dario said.

"So Valex and Stone are one district?" ask Julie.

"He's changed, hasn't he?" julie said with a laugh. He still remembered his first day of work, the woman grabbed his hair because he was too close to Dario. He was presenting documents for examination and his body slightly bent towards Dario. The newly arrived Celia attacked him. Julie shuddered in horror given the events. Celia is very aggressive and doesn't know the rules.

Julie looked dreamy. He imagined how if Celia had come to know about her marriage to Dario and even now she was pregnant with Dario's child. Suddenly the feathers stood up. That crazy woman could do anything to get rid of him.

Julie felt her stomach startle imagining it. Can his son feel what he is thinking? It caresses his stomach. She said in her heart that her baby would be taken care of with all her heart and she would protect it from the wicked.

"Yes, Julie. You're correct. Celia has changed. Maybe the last half a year he's not as possessive as he used to be. I think he's changed for the better, it turns out he's like that because of cheating. He has a new toy and a new man. Basic.." said Dario with a laugh.

"Are you not suspicious?" ask Julie again.

"No. He was sweet as usual. Yes, it's just that his possessiveness is diminishing. I think we're okay. I let him do anything because I felt guilty for not being able to give him a child. I think I'm barren. Turns out that woman faked all the results of the examination." Dario explained while busy driving.

"Why didn't you ever think to see Dr. Anna Tomya? You said you've been friends long enough, right?" ask Julie curiously.

Dario laughed at the question. "Of course Celia won't. Anna and I have been friends for a long time. We dated for a few months at the beginning of college. Yes, we were very young at the time. Celia jealous. After all, the result is clear that Celia is in trouble. Anna can't be bribed" Dario explained.

The conversation went back quiet. Traveling eastwards makes the sunrise look beautiful. The orange sky was cut open by a straight, lonely road. Julie amazed. He took pictures with his cell phone.

The town of Valex was still dewy when the car arrived at Dario's old house.

A pair of Uncle and Aunt who were quite old welcomed them. Dario introduces them as Michael and Joan.

Dario helped them put things in. He said he wanted to stay for a few days.

Julie relaxes in the side chair of the yard. Various flowers blooming. This old house is well maintained.

There's a newspaper lying on the table. Probably Michael's. Julie took. Local newspapers usually only contain criminal news. Julie was curious to open it.

Julie's brows furrowed reading the news headline. TIMOS GERRARD, A VALEX RESIDENT WHO DISAPPEARED, WAS FOUND DEAD IN STONE LAKE.

His lips suddenly pale. The photo was the same Timos he knew. The thymos? Timos Gerrard's? He was the driver of Celia Adams. Julie recognizes him because Timos once drove her to pick up Celia's documents at the office.

Bad feeling. He picked up the newspaper and rushed to find Dario. He needs an explanation.
