Varo lifted the suitcase into the trunk. His eyes glanced at the watch, there were still a few hours before departure towards the airport.
“Lu mending don't have to follow” said Dimas when he saw Bima pull the holster and grease the wind. Bima at least can not go midnight without wind oil, he said Bima's thin stomach skin so easy to catch a cold.
“Lu if vomiting, I got off in the middle of the road” threatened Dimas sitting squatting on the lobby stairs.
“Lagian Varo, why suddenly suddenly back now anyway? Can't tomorrow morning? Kayak monas want to move to Bekasi aja, so kudu bailed” bima's nag.
“There's more mas?” ask Mr. Dirman. Varo checks all his luggage, making sure no one is left behind.
“There's still a pack left behind, but at the cafe. Try you check, I'm the same Mr. Dirman want to drink coffee while rokoan. Yuk sir coffee, this trip away” cerocos Dimas pulled Mr. Dirman and Bima away.
Varo bengong was left alone, he snorted, knowing what Dimas meant. At certain moments, Dimas's fussiness almost matched Bima's.
Varo was pensive, he sighed, although he looked doubtful but his feet automatically stepped down the path towards the cafe. It was almost eleven in the evening and the cade lights started to be put out.
“Sera!” call Varo. Johan was there to help Sera lift the chair to the table.
“What's up?” sera asked confused to see Varo enter with a look like he had seen a midnight demon.
“Olivia no?”
“There in the room, you-”
“OK, thanks” cut Varo. He smiled faintly at Johan who took the initiative to pull Sera away from the cafe when the girl was about to block Varo's steps. Sera slightly thrashed but Johan did not loosen his hand tightly from the girl's lips. Johan smiles back and gives the code for Varo to continue, while he leaves with Sera.
Now Varo is alone standing in front of Olivia's room, he looks restless.
What if Olivia doesn't open the door?
What if Olivia doesn't want to talk?
What if Olivia doesn't want to see herself?
And worse, what if his decision to come here was something wrong?
Varo took a deep breath many times, his mind was chaotic but his hand was raised slowly knocking on Olivia's room door. Only two short beats, but managed to make his heart beat unbecoming.
“Sera? Just come in, I'm not key.” Olivia's voice came from inside. Varo gulped nervously but did not dare to touch the doorknob, he quietly waited until a while later the door opened.
“I said no-” Olivia's expression immediately changed as soon as I saw who was behind the door. He closes the door but Varo's hand restrains his movement. “You what else are you here for?”
Varo is stunned, this is their first meeting after the last time Olivia left him with anger and crying. But the girl's expression was like wanting to show that it had just happened yesterday afternoon. He looks very upset.
“I can enter? I want to say something” asked Varo carefully, facing someone's anger is not an easy thing especially that person already hates Varo. “I think I can't see you any more anytime soon.”
Olivia's eyes looking at him sharply looked as if he was judging. Unexpectedly he nodded and took a step back, letting Varo in.
“What do you want to say? If you want to apologize, mending you out. I don't need an apology from you” Olivia said after folding both hands. His body leaned against the wall staring fixedly at Varo.
“Today I leave for New York” said Varo open voice. His tongue felt faint, but did not want to waste a second of time to fall silent. “As you said, it's too early for me to give up.”
Olivia was a little surprised, but her expression quickly changed, although her forehead was now furrowed waiting for Varo to finish his words.
“I know you hate me. But I will try hard how to make you want to forgive me. I will show you if I have really changed and regretted all my evil deeds to you.” Varo took a deep breath. This was the first time he had attempted to regain the trust of someone who hated him. And this was also the first time he knew where his heart should be anchored, despite the anger there, but Varo wanted to finish it, repeating it all from the beginning.
“I know, this request of mine will make me look four times more a jerk in your eyes.but, I hope you will wait for me for a moment. Wait for me to come back and see how I show all my seriousness to you.”
Silent.
There was no reaction from Olivia, even though she knew Varo had just confessed to her heart and feelings.
Varo's heart aches, the fact that he has to leave the place without hearing Olivia's answer makes him want to go crazy. Varo could not guess what Olivia was thinking, the girl's expression was too difficult to understand.
It is not easy to melt ice that has been frozen for a long time. Especially if the chronology is pulled back, the ice pile has been piling up for a long time.
“I'm leaving now. My plane leaves at dawn.” Varo turned back with a bitter smile. His feet were heavy stepping out of it, he did not want to leave Olivia.
Not when Olivia hates him.
“......Careful on the road.”
Varo's steps came to a halt, his hands frozen on the doorknob when he heard Olivia's soft voice. Varo's body seemed electrocuted, making him unable to do anything. For a moment Varo fell silent, a speck of hope appeared making his body turn around.
“Your decision to meet your mama, was the best decision you ever made.” Olivia smiled faintly, she bit her lower lip as if holding back a cry, her face looking down at the floor of the room. A minute longer talking to Varo, it is certain that Olivia's defense will collapse.
“Oliv...” murmured Varo.
Olivia's face looked up, Varo's sad gaze made her defense collapse. A drop of tears fell down Olivia's cheeks.
Had they not met, would Olivia not have been hurt by it?
Had they never met, would Olivia still cry like that?
Had they never met, would Olivia still hate someone in her life?
Why was their meeting at the wrong time?
Varo wants to change everything, go back to the beginning. He wants a pleasant meeting without hate, removing pretense, and removing anger. Varo wants a precise feeling that can describe their relationship.
“..I...” Olivia was silent, she was unable to say anything more. Her lips were tightly locked, waiting for Varo to leave so that her sobs could come out freely.
Both of Varo's hands clenched tightly, he already couldn't hold himself back any longer. Without thinking twice, Varo steps back at Olivia. Varo's hand pulls Olivia's body closer and kisses her lips softly.
Sweet and sad.
Those were the two contrasting feelings that Varo was feeling at the moment.
Olivia herself did not refuse, her tears just increasingly filled the cheeks. It was as if the kiss was their final farewell gesture.
Olivia's feelings are raging, she wants to hate Varo but on the other hand, part of her unknowingly puts empathy on Varo. Making him who really wants to destroy Varo, just destroyed by falling for the guy. Olivia was caught in her own trap. It's a dilemma. Does Olivia have to break away or stay there and get caught up in her feelings?
Varo's breathing roared violently, his lips could taste Olivia's tears. In a few moments Varo really thought not to leave that place. Her heart ached the more she had to leave Olivia, and Varo wanted to be there all the time.
Varo's face drifted away, his hands raised up, wiped the tears from Olivia's cheeks and hugged the girl tightly.
“I love you. Sorry for hurting you. From today I promise, nothing else will hurt you, not even me.” whispered Varo shuddered Olivia tightly.
Olivia buried her head in Varo's arms, a sign that the hug would be the saddest farewell for them
