The silence of the night has engulfed Kampung Lapaman, like a black blanket that covers the village. Brave young people, get ready to make their final journey into the past through a magical window that has revealed the great mystery in their village.
They gather in front of the legendary Bu RT house, Rahmah. In the sparkling moonlight, they observed the half-open window that had been the center of the mystery all along. The window looked like an eye gazing into the boundless space of time.
Arif, the leader of the youth group, spoke sternly, "This is our last chance. We should try to understand what happened in the past and how it relates to this window."
They stood around the window with hearts full of curiosity. Hesitatingly, one of them, Rini, tried to step towards the window. He took a deep breath, feeling tense from not knowing what was going to happen.
As Rini passed through the window sill, a strange sensation crossed her body. He felt like he was drifting, separated from time and place. Instantly, he was in an entirely different location.
The surrounding natural atmosphere was different from their familiar village. They are now in a place that feels very old, with traditional houses and dark cobbled streets. They realize that they have traveled back in time, to the year 1527.
The young people are not alone. Apparently, Ms. RT, Rahmah, whom they know as an elderly woman who is always behind the window, has joined them on this journey. Rahmah looked younger and vibrant, as if she had returned to her youth.
The loud roar of the waves greeted them. They were in the vicinity of the area which would later become the Port of Sunda Kalapa. The reflection of the moonlight on the calm sea water produced a jewel-like sparkle. Sailboats with red and white flags roamed the waters, and wooden bridges linked the port with nearby villages.
Ms. RT, Rahmah, pointed towards a fortress towering on the shore. The fortress looked majestic and mysterious, like a secret guardian of ancient times. "That's Sunda Kelapa Fortress" Rahmah said excitedly. "That was the time when Fatahillah occupied Sunda Kelapa Port."
They decided to approach the fort to see this historic event with their own eyes. They felt like direct witnesses at the time of the incident.
However, as they approached the fortress, an unexpected surprise shocked them. They watch a group of people dressed in old fashion hunt down a young man who looks very wounded. The man seemed to be a warrior who was fighting the occupation of the fortress.
As the young boys and Bu RT try to save him, they engage in a fierce fight against the fortress guards. Arif leads with courage, using a wooden stick he finds as a weapon. They managed to save the young man and took him to a safe place in the cold middle of the night.
"The man is a resistance fighter against the occupation of Fatahillah" said the young man, named Amir, with eyes that radiated determination. The light of the bonfire reflected the shadow of his face that was weary by the war. "We, the warriors, have fought against these invaders to gain freedom and preserve the honor of our village. We have faced unimaginable cruelty and misery, but we will never give up."
Amir is a brave local resistance leader, and the scars of war on his body are silent witnesses of a long struggle against Fatahillah's forces. His tired, wrinkled face reflects years of struggling under the pressure of ruthless colonization. He is a symbol of fortitude and perseverance in maintaining the identity and freedom of his village.
The young people around him fell silent, stunned by Amir's story. They never imagined how brave and powerful the fighters who had protected their village would be. The steadfastness of Amir in the face of the invaders inspired them, and they felt they had a responsibility to ensure that the struggle and sacrifice were not in vain.
Arif, the leader of the youth group, voiced respectfully, "We promise to keep your story of struggle alive. We will ensure that your sacrifices and those of other warriors will be cherished and remembered by future generations."
Amir smiled expectantly. "That's a noble promise. Memories of our struggles are part of the identity of this village. You are the generation that will carry our legacy into the future."
Ms. RT, Rahmah, with a heart full of emotion, added, "This experience should remind us of the great responsibility attached to the strength of this window. We must use this power wisely and respect the past and future of our village."
As the night unfolds, the young children and Amir share their stories and experiences. They talk about the struggles, the strength of the community, and the values that have shaped their village over the centuries. The atmosphere became increasingly close and filled with respect between these different generations.
Ms. RT, Rahmah, frowned. "That's not an event that should have happened in this time. Something has changed."
They quickly moved towards the fortress, followed by Amir who was still injured. As they approached the fortress, the sight they witnessed left them dumbfounded. The magnificent Sunda Kelapa Fort, formerly controlled by local fighters, now appears to have been taken over by Fatahillah forces.
As they approached the fortress, they saw a group of Fatahillah soldiers celebrating their victory. Amir felt desperate, realizing that they had returned to the changing times, where Fatahillah managed to occupy the Port of Sunda Kelapa. The whole situation had changed, and they found themselves in danger.
"Quick, we have to go back to the previous time!" exclaimed Arif, and the other youngsters agreed. They look back to the magic window, hoping to go back in time and try to change time travel.
With tension engulfing them, the young boys and Amir again stand in front of a magical window that ushers them into time travel. They hope to return to their own time, to their peaceful village and to avoid the threat of Fatahillah occupation.
However, the moment they entered the window, they felt a strange feeling as if time was spinning in a different direction. They were thrown into an uncontrollable vortex of time change.
When they finally arrived back at Kampung Lapaman, they discovered that their village had changed. Modern buildings are replacing traditional houses, and daily life has changed drastically. They are aware that they have returned to a time that is not their own, but a more modern one.
Arif shook his head in frustration. "What's going on? We're back at the wrong time!"
Amir, who was also confused, tried to give an explanation, "This window seems to not only take us to the past, but also to a different time from our past. We are in the future."
They were walking around this strange village, trying to understand the changes that were happening. They see modern technology, motor vehicles, and a very different culture than they know. It felt like they had been stranded in an age they knew nothing about.
As they try to talk to the locals, they learn that their village has undergone a massive modernization over the past few decades. They also found that this future was not a peaceful future. Conflicts and inequalities still exist, albeit in different forms.
Ms. RT, Rahmah, was sad to see this change. "We have lost our own time and our past. We don't know how to get back."
Amir added, "This is a consequence of our past interference. We must learn to deal with these changes wisely."
They spend time learning about this modern age and trying to adjust to the changes. They are also looking for ways to better understand the strength of the windows and control them carefully.
Meanwhile, in their supposed time, the Sunda Kelapa fortress was still controlled by Fatahillah, and the struggle against the invaders continued. They feel a moral responsibility to respect the struggles of these fighters and ensure that their history lives on.
In the end, young children and Amir learn that time is fragile, and change is part of life. They must accept the fact that they cannot change the past or control time completely. All they can control is how they deal with those changes and live their lives in the times they have discovered.
The story teaches about the consequences of past interference, about wisdom in using infinite power, and about the importance of accepting change in life. Although they could not go back to the past they knew, they had a future that they could shape wisely. And with the experience they have, they are ready to face whatever comes in their unexpected journey.
