After Maya leaves, the man turns his chair to face Rena. How surprised Rena when she saw a male figure who was familiar to her. So too with that man. Their eyes met and looked at each other.
“Bu Rena,” said the man in a surprised tone.
“Pak Dewa,” sahut Rena who is no less surprised by God.
“I did not expect that Mother who applied to this school,” said Dewa showed an expression of surprise as well as pleasure.
“ I also did not expect that Mr. Dewa also taught in this school," said Rena still with a surprised tone.
“Tell me the reason. Why did you propose here? Didn't Mom teach at Pelita SMP Soul and as far as I know the rules in Junior High did not allow her teachers to teach elsewhere? Has the rule changed now?” sahut Dewa with questions.
Dewa does know a lot about the rules that apply in Pelita SMP Soul because before he taught at SMP Cinta Kasih, he also taught at the same place where Rena used to teach. In addition, Dewa is also the elder sister of Rena who previously served as Chairman of BEM Faculty in the college Rena (Still remember, right?).
“The rules are still the same Mr. Dewa. Only, now that I've stopped from that place,” said Rena with eyes that have begun to tear up considering the unfair treatment she received from her place of service for almost 11 years.
“How can? You're a legend there?” sahut Dewa tried to look into Rena's eyes to look for honesty in her beautiful eyes.
As far as Gods are concerned, Rena is a very powerful teacher. Teachers who are able to survive long when other teachers are only able to survive 1 to 3 years there. This is because there are very strict staffing rules in that place. The god himself only taught 3 years at the school.
“Can, Sir. That's why I applied here,” replied Rena.
“Iya, I mean how can because all this time I know Mother is very loyal and very happy to work in that place,” said God is still half-believing in what he just heard.
Rena took a deep breath before continuing her words.
“Yes, maybe you were right all this time I was very loyal and very happy to work there. Maybe, I will also not ask to stop from that place if I am not asked to stop,” said Rena with a tone that began to emotion and hands that have been clenched to hold her anger.
“What? So I mean, indirectly Mom was fired from that place?” ask the gods not to believe.
“How can? Didn't you always get the title as an accomplished teacher at that school? The disciples also liked Mother a lot," continued the Lord mentioning the reason for her disbelief.
Rena responded to the statement of the Gods with a smile because indeed what the Gods said was all true. Every year he often gets the award as the best teacher at the school for his dedication to his work so far. However, since the real personal matter was not entirely his fault, everything was destroyed already. His achievements were completely meaningless in the eyes of the foundation. This was never a consideration for a Bambang, the owner of the foundation.
“That you say is true, Sir. But you yourself know how Mr. Bambang and how his mindset so far? The achievements we have are nothing in his eyes,” asked Rena back with rage.
Yes, what Rena said is undeniable. The gods know very well what the figure of the man named Bambang is. The man who used to be his superior and also Rena. An arrogant, stubborn figure, and always felt himself to be the most righteous.
It is still recorded in his memory how God felt humiliated just because of a mistake that he considered trivial. He was yelled at and rebuked all-out by Bambang even until given SP 1 (Warnings Letter). The problem is none other than because God does not wear his uniform. His clothes had not been rubbed. That was before God had asked permission to Mr. Dimas who was then the principal of his school.
The flashback
“Hey, you're here!” bambang shouted so loudly calling out to the Gods, making the Gods and students who were in that place turn their heads towards him. The gods also approached the man of great height.
“Iya, Sir, what's up?” sahut Dewa lowered his gaze not daring to look at the man who was now being ruffled waist and looked at him with eyes so sharp as a lion who was about to pounce on his prey.
“Where's your uniform, huh? You are a shameless teacher..! Can't teach your students right! If only his teacher was like you who liked to not wear a uniform? What about his students?” snapped Bambang while pointing at the face of the God in front of his disciples.
Indeed, the words of Mr. Bambang earlier really make God feel very embarrassed.
“Sorry, sir, I have previously asked Mr. Dimas for permission that today I cannot wear my uniform, because...” said the God who was cut by Bambang.
“Sorry, sir, but I'm not wearing a uniform because my uniform has not had time to rub,” said Dewa trying to defend himself. However, Bambang instead of understanding the reason of God, he instead gave a smile full of ridicule to God.
“Where is your wife?” ask Bambang.
“ Sorry, sir, I am not married,” replied Dewa.
“Quick, so don't be single! That's why I don't like singles like you in this school. So, soon get married or you can get out of this school,” said Bambang with a high enough tone and piercing to make all the students in that place listen to his words.
Some of them were concerned to hear these words. Meanwhile, some others have smiles full of ridicule because God has been a disciplined teacher and does not hesitate to punish those who commit offences.
Bambang left the gods with great shame. But the problem didn't just get there. Shortly after the incident, Dewa received a warning letter from the principal on direct orders from Mr. Bambang. This makes the Gods feel unfairly treated, so the Gods resigned from that place.
Flasback off
“Can I know the reason Mr Bambang asked Mom to stop?” god asked a little hesitating as he was worried about offending Rena. However, he really felt curious especially because it was about Rena, the woman he once liked.
Just like the Gods, Rena also seemed hesitant to tell the problem. Considering the problem is a very personal matter. He did not want the gods to know about his personal problems.
“Sorry, for that one I can't tell you, Pak” said Rena.
“Alright, I will not force. Then, what about Mom's husband, Mr Rayhan, does he allow it?” asked the Gods because the Gods knew Rayhan was an authoritarian person who would not easily allow Rena to work in just any place.
Hearing the name of her ex-husband called, Rena could no longer cover up all the problems that had happened between her and Rayhan to the Gods.
“I and Rayhan have split up, sir, and that's exactly why I was asked to leave. Because I can't defend my home. According to Mr. Bambang, if the divorce really happened, then one of us had to stop from that place, and according to his savings in this case I should be the woman who should stop,” said Rena with a tone full of bitterness.
Hearing the story of Rena, God increasingly felt dislike for the male figure named Bambang. He did not expect that a divorce that might be the biggest disaster most women experience could be an excuse for a dismissal. What a naive thought in his eyes.
“So, when will the test start, sir? " ask Rena breaking the silence.
“I think for Mom, we do not need to do the test again,” said Dewa while opening the red map that Maya had previously given him.
“But how can Sir? Don't you know how I teach? Does it fit the criteria this school wants or not?” ask Rena.
The god did not answer Rena's question, he just smiled in response. He was still busy filling the sheets of paper on his desk.
“Whose word I don't know how Mom teaches?” asked the God while looking at Rena's face carefully, making Rena immediately subdue her gaze.
“Maybe Mom is not aware, if all this time I always pay attention to the way Mom teaches,” said Dewa.
The words of God made Rena remember the memories of eleven years ago, about the problems that occurred between her, God, and Rayhan.
