Quiet Wife

Quiet Wife
47. Mutual Longing

"Darling?" The gentle call woke Naura from her sleep. Both of his eyeballs were initially closed, made wide to aghast.

"Mas Calvin's? You home?" Naura could not hide the joy on her face. His cry broke while tightly hugging Calvin who at the same time was laughing softly while hugging his wife.

"You're still making me, aren't you, Nau?" The whisper instantly made Naura let go of her embrace. The look in his eyes turned jaded as he stared at the pair of Calvin eyeballs staring at him deeply.

"Why Calvin is that? From start to finish, my heart was just for Calvin! Now that you're home, you're not gonna leave me again, are you?" Naura clasped Calvin's hands tightly. The tears flooded her beautiful face.

Naura never thought Calvin would let go of her hand. The mysterious thin smile imprinted on her face made Naura clueless.

"Mas Calvin?"

"I love you! Don't move on to another, yeah, Nau! I must be home."

"Mas Calvin's? Where are you going? Hey!" Naura gets even more confused when Calvin starts walking away from her. As Naura was about to give chase, for some reason her legs felt so heavy as if something was holding her back.

"Mas Calvin! Don't go again! Where are you going? With Calvin!"

The beautiful dream that ended in tears instantly disappeared along with Naura who woke up from sleep. Sweat and sweat even poured from the forehead to the neck.

Dizziness. Her head felt heavy as Naura tried to get out of bed. Time even just showed at one in the morning.

Damnit damnit! The dream again!

Whether it was just a dream or a premonition, Naura did not know. But clearly, lately the same dream continues to spin non-stop. Where in the dream, Calvin meets him and tells Naura not to turn away from him.

"Is Calvin still alive, huh? But where is he?" Naura twitched her temples as dizziness returned. Before long, the dizziness turned into a feeling of nausea that made Naura run towards the bathroom to vomit her stomach contents.

Whether Hermawan is still awake, or indeed woke up because of something, the father of one child ran to his daughter's room.

"Naura? Where are you?" The noise from the bathroom distracts Hermawan. He immediately ran away feeling uncomfortable.

"Naura?" Hermawan was quite shocked to see Naura who continued to vomit her stomach. Although only a clear liquid came out, but it was successful in making Naura's body weakened.

"Well, hm?" Hermawan intends to help his daughter who began to stop vomiting. Unfortunately, when Hermawan was about to bring Naura back to the room, Naura regurgitated her entrails. Luckily it didn't happen as bad as before.

"Bah, please get me some water!"

"Yes, yes! Come on, Papa help you into the room, yeah!" Gently affectionate, Hermawan carried his daughter's body until she returned to the room. Slowly Hermawan lowered the tiny body onto the bed.

"Wait here, yeah, Papa get me some water!" Hermawan's spontaneous sweat was taken by Naura.

It did not take long, Hermawan has returned with a tray containing a glass of warm water and some sweet snacks that lately often eaten by Naura. He said it can neutralize nausea even though it does not last long.

"So you finished your dinner taking your medicine?" After giving her a glass of water, Hermawan asked Naura gently. The daughter did not answer verbally, but just a nod meaning 'yes'.

"Why are you doing this again? It's been a week since you kept waking up at the same time because of the same thing."

Naura fell silent. Should he tell her his dream?

"Bah!" The weak Sahutan of Naura, made Hermawan turn his head. "According to Papa, is there any possibility that Mas Calvin-"

"Living still you mean?" There was a heavy sigh from Hermawan that made Naura bow.

"How many times has Papa said that Calvin is dead. It's been three months, there's no way he's alive."

"But, Pah-"

"Oh, now you rest. Forget Calvin!" Firmly Hermawan, then waltzed to leave his daughter's room at that time.

...****...

"Calvin! Eat first, yuk! I haven't eaten anything from yesterday. How sick will you be? Eat first, okay? I'm bribe." Calvin again dodged when Naima gave a mouthful of plain porridge. His head turned in any direction. His brain again thought of Naura and Naura.

Calvin missed his wife. Especially when considering this month the age of the womb has entered four months. Calvin is not on Naura's side.

"Gue wants to go home." The words were back Calvin said. Naima's reflexes slammed the bowl of porridge back into the tray.

"Naura has a new guy, Cal! He thought you were dead. Short, yeah, I'll give you the proof." Remembering a package that had not been long ago, Naima got up from the sofa. Both legs gracefully tread the floor of the hotel room layered with hairy carpets, towards a shelf where various types of books and files are stored.

"Gue was sure that after you saw this, you would hate Naura! Open it yourself!" After picking up a package that was nothing but a brown envelope, Naima handed it to Calvin who remained still in place.

At first, Calvin just turned his head lazily on the brown envelope. But various eye glare codes from Naima, finally Calvin accepted it with a sudden uncomfortable feeling.

Justright. Both of his eyes seemed to want to jump from the place when he saw some photos of Naura together with a foreign young man of high stature.

Inside the photo, there was a warm smile on Naura's face. Unfortunately, the smile looked different, as if there was still sadness in it.

Although Calvin felt his heart ache to see photos of Naura's closeness with a foreigner, Calvin was very sure that Naura's feelings would not be as easy as forgetting her. But in order to get out of this damned place, Calvin must make a plan.

"So?" Calvin handed the photos back to Naima. After putting it back in the envelope.

There was a sarcastic nudity from Naima that ended up being quite a jarring laugh. "Not hard-assed. I know, your heart must be broken, see this, right?" Naima stopped her laughter. His face turned cold and foreign.

"Now, yes, Cal! If it wasn't for me who saved you, you really would have stayed the name and your body would have continued to be tossed in the ocean until it was destroyed. You should be grateful to be alive. And to repay all my kindness to you, I want you to be my husband. How's it? Fair, right?" Naima brought her face closer. A sweet smile with another meaning was imprinted horribly on his face.

Instead of feeling intimidated, Calvin laughed softly in response. "So, all your kindness to me is just a fake so that I owe you so that it ends up falling into your arms, is that it?"

Naima seemed to think for a moment. Not long after, the woman nodded. "If you forget, I already have a wife and have no interest in adding another one. I also want to be a father. Until the dream world, I do not want to marry a demon girl like you!"

...****...

This afternoon, Naura again daydreamed on a wooden swing on the beach near her home. His eyes were straight towards the blue sea. His mind and brain again hope that Calvin will return to his good state, running from the direction of the beach lips approached him with a sweet smile. Then he hugged her and said, "I'm back."

Naura looked down sad when all her daydreams were still just a daydream. His hand that grasped the swing rope turned to his bulging stomach. Swiping her even hugged her, as if channeling pain, longing and also loss to her prospective child.

"Mama miss Papa! Until now, Mama can not escape your Papa! She means too much to Mama!" Tears of longing are required to shed wet the cheeks.

While Naura was still busy crying, someone handed her a box of tissue right in front of her face.

Surprised? Is clear!

Naura quickly wiped her tears and turned to the side to see who the figure of the person giving her a tissue was.

"Ivan?" Naura muttered almost inaudibly.

As for Ivan, the young man had no intention of saying any words, let alone turning his head to look at Naura's face that was filled with tears. Ivan just sat on another swing next to Naura with one of his hands raised handed her a box of tissues.

"Take it!" Ivan's whole head was turned, making Naura reflex aware. Quickly his hand took the eyebrow of the box of tissue into his hand.

Not only budgeted, Naura used the tissue to wipe tears in various corners of the face and snot that filled the nasal cavity. When it was finished, Naura turned to Ivan who looked dreamy looking at the sea.

"Aren't you in college, Van?" Naura started to open the chat.

There was the sound of heavy breathing from Ivan who was accompanied by his head turning to Naura. "You want Calvin again?"

Really, that question left Naura stunned! Because to be honest, it is not that easy to forget someone who is loved, let alone his status here has been declared dead without any definite clarity.

Naura quietly swallowed her hard-earned saliva then lowered her head in lethargy. "I. .. can't forget Mas Calvin. If I'm honest, Calvin's my first love after Papa. After Mama died a few years ago, I always shut myself around. And ... I can open again now thanks to Calvin! Can't I remember him? Especially now that I'm in the flesh and blood of Calvin's mas."

Really, why does it feel so painful when Naura keeps talking about Calvin?

Did Ivan really have no place in Naura's heart?

So what has he been doing all this time?

"Naura!" Get Ivan. His throat felt suddenly stiff.

"Huh-yes?"

"Aren't you able to escape your husband, and then look at me?"
