SERUNI

SERUNI
CHAPTER 18 The True Story

"Sorry, Bang ...." Seruni hurriedly pulled her hand from Shaka.

Of course he did not want any citizens to see, then asked them to be punished customarily by marrying forcibly. It's not funny to get married just for holding hands.

"I'm sorry, being too excited to forget." Shaka whispered to Seruni.

"Sir Major Tumben came with his wife?" ask one of the residents.

Shaka turned to Seruni. '' Still a candidate, sir. May Allah love the way, '' his answer is only brave in the heart.

"No, Sir. My name is Seruni. I happen to be working in this area too. If there are people who have health problems, especially pregnant women, I can help." Seruni answered the Citizen's question which was not intended for her.

"I'm sorry, I think his wife is Mr. Major. So harmonious. Beautiful and handsome."

Seruni smiled casually at the words of the citizens, while Shaka instead became his own misbehavior. They kept walking, following the citizens who no longer spoke much. Apparently, Shaka is highly respected and respected.

Unlike what Seruni imagined, the house that appeared from across the river was only a halfway house for guests or officials who wanted to visit there. Houses inhabited by natives, still have to walk deeper. Fortunately, his shoes were not left on the bike. After a fifteen-minute trip, they arrived in front of the intended residents' houses.

Wooden stage house with a height of 1.5 meters from the ground with a rectangular shape. The roof is made of grass and palm leaves. The traditional impression is still very thick and immediately felt in just one glance. Stairs entering the house are still made from intact tree trunks.

A resident invited Seruni and Shaka to enter the mother's house that will give birth. They are still waiting for the paraglide that will help the process of his birth.

Entering the vast house, a warm feeling was immediately felt. Buildings with wood material, it is suitable in mountainous areas like this. Wood is able to absorb and store warm very well for a long time.

Sayup-sayup also heard the voice of mothers who are teaching. Seruni did not want to guess, even though he was asked a lot. One person who gave birth somehow could wait outside the fathers of one village.

"Please sit down, Mr. Major, ma'am..." Residents who had dared to talk to Shaka pointed at the thick dark brown carpet in the middle of the room.

After that, the residents went back out of the house, gathered with other fathers, waiting for the arrival of the Paraji.

"That's great, Bang. So ethnic." Seruni said in a very soft voice to Shaka.

"This is not how Ser, there is a bigger one. Magnificent like a palace, you take it there sometime." Shaka chimed in with a no less shrill voice.

A man entered in a panic, heading straight for the inside of the blocked house. A moment later reappeared with two middle-aged men with faces that were no less panicked.

"What's up, sir?" Shaka asked politely.

"Paraji is dead, Mr. Major. Falling in the bathroom. How'this?" The man looked more panicked than the other man.

"I'm sorry, if Mr. Sardi and the others agree. This Seruni Doctor Ma'am, can help the birth of your wife." Shaka returned politely and carefully gave way to the three people in front of him.

The man named Sardi did not answer. He seems to be exchanging opinions with two other men.

"All right! But if it doesn't make it, Doctor don't expect to get out of here!" menacam Sardi's.

Seruni smiled gently while nodding. "God willing, all will be saved."

Sardi invited Seruni into the room. There were too many mothers waiting. The woman just grimaced with pain. Others focus on reading the holy Quran. They did not care about the presence of Seruni at all.

"Excuse me... I'll help you give birth, how do you feel?" ask Seruni while wearing her gloves.

The woman just groaned in pain slowly. She did not answer Seruni's question, because she did not speak when she was lying down to give birth. That's how it is there.

Seruni asked Mr. Sardi for help to prepare warm water and clean cloth, and provided a place to put ari-ari.

After a 30-minute struggle, a baby girl was finally born safely, without any shortcomings. Her mother looked fresh even though she had just given birth.

Sardi's wife felt the birth process this time went very easy and not too sick. Compared to the past, Paraji helped the birth of his first child who died shortly after birth in the world.

"Thank you, Doctor Ma'am" said the woman sincerely and answered a smile by Seruni.

Hearing the cry of the baby, the mothers who teach also stop the chanting of sacred verses. One of them helped Seruni clean the baby.

Because there is no problem, Seruni and Shaka say goodbye to all of them. Continue to the next place. They still want to go to other people. Before leaving the place, like his previous birth, Mr. Sardi also forced Seruni to receive a gift from him as a sign of gratitude.

Seruni and Shaka then headed towards the other side of the village where they were currently located. There, most of its citizens were paralyzed.

"Ser... What about last night? You dare not travel back across the river?" shaka asked, his gaze serious.

"As long as there is Bang Shaka. I'm not afraid." Serun answered honestly.

Shaka smiled happily at Seruni's reply. He did not choose the wrong wife, now the problem is, the courage to express that feeling does not exist. Not the case of meetings that are still too short, but the fear of rejection because it is considered too easy to fall in love.

Not for 30 minutes, they arrived at the place they were headed. There are not many houses and residents there, maybe only five dozen houses. I don't know how many souls the inhabitants are.

Seruni was invited to visit several houses that seemed to be very familiar with Shaka. The beautiful doctor painstakingly examined the condition of some of them who wanted to be examined his condition.

As far as Seruni learned. Actually what happened to the population was not paralysis that could not be cured let alone paralysis because of the curse they had believed so far. Medically, Seruni said they experienced filariasis or elephantiasis, which is swelling of the legs due to filaria-type worm infection. This worm attacks the lymph vessels and is transmitted through mosquito bites.

Seruni gave antibiotics and gave advice to two people who were not too severe to do some things such as sleeping with the legs higher than the head, compress the swollen leg and exercise moving the legs.

In the future he will invite one of the residents who have been severe to perform the operation. Of course he should try to persuade first.

After it was over, Seruni and Shaka immediately made their way home. Because it does not feel the time has shown at four in the afternoon. Worms in the stomach Seruni had started struggling to fill because from noon, he only ate a piece of bread given by Shaka.

"Bang, I'm a lager." Seruni honestly spoke to Shaka.

"God! I forgot, Ser! Let's just have some hot water at the guard house on the river bank." Shaka sped up his steps to get there quickly.

Finally, after successfully getting hot water, now they sit back on the edge of the river enjoying a cup of instant noodles that were deliberately brought by Shaka.

"Ser, won't you be my wife?"

Shaka's question is suddenly no-nonsense and unexpected situation. Making the noodles inside the Seruni's mouth immediately gushed out without permission.
