A girl sits pensively on a thin mattress inside a simple rented outhouse in the outskirts of Jakarta. IPhone 6 gifts his parents when he managed to get into the university he held tight. A photo of him wearing a toga shirt, flanked by his parents who smiled happily because he managed to graduate with the title cum laude plastered real on the screen of his phone.
“Papa ... Mama ... Maafin Delia ..”
Delia Maharani, a beautiful girl in white, long black hair looked at the faces of her parents. Sometimes he rubbed their faces in his phone screen. It seems like he misses them.
Who would have thought, Delia, the first child of two brothers from the couple Arga Wijaya and Farida Wijaya who had always been proud of both parents because of his achievements, he said, suddenly they made a decision that hurt them.
“Pa, Delia wants to marry Jayadi.” The first sentence from Delia triggered a heated argument within their family that afternoon.
Toga clothes have just been removed, featuring a beautiful dress on the back. A simple nude dress fits perfectly with the white of Delia.
“Who's life?” asked Arga that afternoon.
Delia did not want to describe who her future husband was. He called Jayadi who was not far from them.
“Halo Om, Aunt.” Jayadi greets both Delia's parents kindly.
Instead, the eyes of Delia's parents looked at Jayadi from top to bottom. There were no luxuries that this young man wore before him. Checkered shirt with jeans belel, combined with sneakers that already look dull. Is this Delia's choice?
“What is your job?” ask Arga to the point.
“I sing Om,” Jayadi replied.
“Nyanyi?” reset Arga.
“Iya Om, my singer cafe.”
“Friends college Delia?” Farida spoke.
“Not aunty, I'm not in college. I'm just a High School graduate.”
Both Arga and Farida look disappointed to hear Jayadi's answer.
“No!” Arga's resolute reply left Delia shocked. “Leave my son! You don't deserve him!”
“Pa, why are you talking like that?” Delia began to love, “we love each other Pa, please bless our relationship,” he continued.
“What do you expect from a cafe singer, Delia?! Papa is sure, the income is not even five million a month!”
“Money is not a problem, Pa. Delia believes Jay can make Delia.” happy
There was a heated debate on that hot day. The sun seems to make fun of those who are fighting ideas under it. The son and his father were both stone-headed. No one wants to give up until the end ....
“If you insist on marrying her, then you must leave my house!” Not only Delia, Farida was also surprised to hear it.
Unexpectedly, Delia clasped Jayadi's hand with certainty. He has decided he will stay on Jayadi's side, whatever the risk.
“Alright if it's your decision. From now on, I've cut off all the relationships that exist between us. And you, never use my name again behind your name!”
Tears rolled along with the departure of her parents. He never thought this morning was the last time he set foot in his house, the last breakfast with his parents, and the last photo with them.
“Del?” Jayadi just appeared in the doorway. Approaching Delia, he comes to see the screen of his wife's phone he married one month ago.
“You've gone home Jay?” Delia looked surprised by Jayadi's sudden arrival.
“You missed your parents?” jayadi asked, ignoring Delia's previous question.
Delia nodded. Her tears were dripping again, along with the outpouring of longing in her heart.
Jayadi brought Delia into his arms, “don't cry, how about we visit there?”
Delia shook her head quickly, “I no longer have the right to visit them, Jay.”
“I'm sorry, Del,” said Jayadi lirih.
“Not your fault. It was my decision.”
Delia leaves all the facilities her parents gave her to be with Jayadi. A poor man who couldn't even give Delia a decent life.
With his income as a cafe singer, Jayadi was only able to rent a small rental that contained one room, one living room, one mini kitchen, and one bathroom.
The contract they had landed empty was leaping up when they first moved out a month ago. If not driven out of the house, Delia would have bought the things she needed. But when he left, he only brought the clothes he was wearing, a cellphone, and a ID card that he always slipped behind his cellphone case. No savings, no cars, all Delia left for Jayadi. Stupid indeed!
There was a knock on the door as they were in sadness. Jayadi immediately stood up to open the door. As expected, the person he had been waiting for finally came as well.
Two men in the uniform of an electronics store entered Jayadi's contract. They talked for a while before they started working.
“What is Jay?” Delia came out of the room, as she heard the sound of a foreign man entering her contract.
“Ac Driver, want to install AC,” replied Jayadi.
“You bought AC? How did you not say I was?”
“The name is also surprise!”
That's Jayadi. In the midst of economic turmoil, he always put Delia first. This past week, the fan in their contract was broken. Jayadi had to see Delia overheated every night because of it. Seeing that, he tried to find additional income in order to buy AC for Delia.
Delia hugged Jayadi tightly. His smile was bursting, as if the sadness he had experienced before had never happened. Without Delia asking, Jayadi always knew what Delia needed.
“Sorry yes, just buy one. Later if the money has been collected again, I buy it made in the living room as well.”
“This is more than enough, Jay.”
Jayadi landed a kiss on Delia's head. He felt very lucky to have Delia by his side. For many years he lived together after the adoptive parents who took him from the orphanage died because of the accident they experienced. The day after, he was evicted from his adoptive parents' house by the person who claimed heirs from them. Since then, he has struggled to finish high school, while working as a cafe singer.
At the cafe Jayadi also met with Delia. Delia who often comes with her friends for group work or just hanging out after college gets special attention from Jayadi. Unexpectedly, Delia turned out to have the same interest. And that's how it all started. Eventually they got into a relationship and got married.
