The detective could see the fear clearly drawn on Violet.
“So Miss Violet is this lighter yours ?” detective Carl turns the lighter over to Violet to get the woman to check on him.
“Yes, this is indeed mine sir.” Violet instantly recognized if it was hers without the need to examine it. “But-but really it wasn't me who did it.” he replied stammeringly and still sweating.
“Then I need your alibi at 20:00 last night, 5 minutes right before the fire happened.
“A-I was with Deby and Luna.” he answered looking panicked once then dared to settle his two friends on his right side. “Yes isn't Luna, Deby ? The three of us were smoking together near the exit and suddenly after that there was smoke that began to billow from the front.” asked the two friends to testify so that he was not to blame.
“Yes, that's right detective. The three of us are together so there is no way Violet did it.” Luna explained.
Suddenly Mrs Carmen who was listening and still in the room immediately came forward to detective Carl.
“Surely he did, detective.” said the woman looked angry then set her sights on Violet.
“What are you doing with me, Violet ? Why are you burning my only source of income ? Basic lady doesn't know it's lucky.” maki that woman with anger.
“Mrs Carmen I really did not burn this garment.” Violet defended herself.
“Mistress, relax first. This investigation is not yet completed please you return to your seat.” Detective Carl immediately separated them before there was a fight between them.
Carmen returns to her seat at the request of detective Carl.
“Alright we can't find out who the real culprit was before I know all the alibis of every worker here.”
Detective Carl asks the three objects to move sit first and call the other three women.
“Nona Emma, miss Ginger and Miss Rilly please come here.” the man called three other workers.
The three women sat in front of the detective.
“Miss Emma what did you do in the range of 19:30 to 20:00 ?” detective Carl asked as he opened his note, a yellow book in which he recorded the activities of the ten men.
“Detective at 19.30 am.” Miss Emma then explained if she was arranging some fabrics in a slightly messy window after there were some buyers who bought the cloth before.
The detective listens to the testimony while matching it with the note in his yellow book.
“Do you see anyone else who has a lighter like this other than Miss Violet ?” ask detective Carl to show the lighters back.
Miss Emma shook her head.
“Do you think there was anything suspicious before the fire happened ?”
“No detective, at that time I was busy cleaning all the fabric so not too pay attention to the others.”
Detective Carl then turns to look at Miss Ginger.
“Nona Ginger what you did in the time frame at 19:30 and 20. 00 ?”
“I was in front of a computer monitor working on financial statements today before the store closed.” replied the woman explained and the testimony was correct with what was recorded by the detective.
“Do you know who is standing right on that showcase ?” asked the man while pointing towards the window where he had previously found the lighter.
Miss Ginger tried to recall.
“I'm not sure detective. But I saw Sarah and Rilly chatting there.”
Detective Carl then turns to look at Miss Rilly.
“Is that true miss ?”
“Yes, I was standing under that storefront with Sarah. And we chatted lightly before the store closed, that's it.” replied the woman gave a description.
Detective Carl then turned to look at Sarah.
“Miss Sarah, can you come here for a while ?” call Detective Carl.
“Yes, of course detective.” replied the woman looked nervous and pale.
He got up from his seat and joined three other friends there.
