Finally they arrived and inevitably ibra was told to read, because he wanted to know the history of bulukumba....
#Bulukumba comes from the word Bulukumupa and at a certain level has changed to Bulukumba. The naming mythology “Bulukumba“, supposedly sourced from two words in Bugis language namely “Bulu’ku“ and “Mupa” which in Indonesian means “still my mountain or remain my mountain“. This myth first appeared in the –17th century AD when there was a civil war between two major kingdoms in Sulawesi, namely the kingdom of Gowa and the kingdom of Bone.
On the coast named “Tanahkong“, where the envoys of King Gowa and King Bone met, they negotiated peacefully and set the boundaries of the respective kingdom's sphere of influence.
“Bangkeng Buki” (literally means foothills), which is a line of hillsides from Mount Lompo Battang claimed by the Gowa kingdom as the limit of its territory ranging from Kindang to the Eastern region. But the Bone kingdom insisted on maintaining Bangkeng Buki as its territory from the West to the South.
Starting from these events then triggered a sentence in Bugis “Bulukumupa”, which then at a certain level of dialect experienced a change in the sound process to “Bulukumba”. It is said that since then the name Bulukumba began to exist, and until now officially became a district.
The inauguration of Bulukumba became a district name starting from the issuance of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 29 of 1959 concerning the Establishment of Level II Regions in Sulawesi, Indonesia, which was followed up with Regulatory Regulations of Bulukumba Regency Number 5 of 1978 on Regional Emblems. Finally, after a day seminar on March 28, 1994 with Prof speakers. Dr. H. Ahmad Mattulada (historical and cultural experts), then set the anniversary of Bulukumba Regency, which is February 4, 1960 through Regional Regulation Number 13 of 1994 on the Anniversary of Bulukumba Regency. In formal juridical Bulukumba Regency officially became a level II area after being determined by the Regional Emblem of Bulukumba Regency by the DPRD of Bulukumba Regency on February 4, 1960 and the inauguration of the First Regent, Andi Patarai, on february 12, 1960.
“Mali’ siparappe, Tallang sipahua”. The phrase that reflects the fusion of the two dialects of BugisMakassar.it is a picture of the inner attitude of the Bulukumba community to develop the mandate of unity in realizing mutual safety for the creation of the purpose of birth and inner development, and, material and spiritual, world and hereafter. Historical, cultural, and religious paradigms provide a nuance of morality in the system of government which in a certain order becomes an ethics for the structure of social life
Bulukumba Regency has 14 Cultural Reserves and 4 Intangible Cultural Heritage that has been determined by the Minister of Education and Culture, as well as regional languages in South Sulawesi Province.#
