Chapter 9: Getting Married

After buying clothes for Perky and making sure the man went home to Meta. Ariel goes to the Cahaya Pertiwi orphanage to see Abil again. Seeing Ariel coming with a few bags of groceries in his right and left hands, the boy immediately ran to greet the older brother.

Ariel slightly flinched as Abil hugged her, but a second later returned the sister's embrace with a big smile on her face.

“I'm glad you came on,” said Abil still hugging the sister, then looked up with a big smile to see Ariel's face.

“Yes, sorry for keeping you waiting,” Ariel replied to Abil's smile.

Abil took off a hug, then glanced at the brother's luggage.

“What's the brother bring?” abil asked with a curious look.

Ariel immediately looked to the right and left where both of her hands were full of groceries. He looked at Abil then smiled widely.

“This is all for you, Brother bring your favorite food as well as some items of your needs,” replied Ariel while thrusting some bags at Abil, because sure if the hand of the sister will not be able to if bring everything.

Abil screamed in excitement, then ran into the orphanage because he wanted to see what his brother brought.

Niken turned out to have been watching, once he saw Abil who had separated from his brother, the woman then called and invited in.

It turns out that Ariel also brought some items for the needs of other orphanages, as a sign of gratitude because Niken allowed and wanted to take care of Abil.

“How was your lecture?” niken asked as she placed Ariel's gift on the kitchen table.

“Current,” replied Ariel with a smile.

Niken also returned the girl's smile, before then staring at the items brought earlier. Very much, making Niken curious where Ariel get the money to buy all that.

“Now you are in college while working where?” ask Niken. The woman was actually suspicious because Ariel had come carrying a lot of things, where the money used to buy must have been not small.

Not without reason Niken asked like that, a few months ago Ariel still works as a janitor and receives a salary that is not how much. Even Ariel had borrowed money for college registration to him.

Ariel pursed his lips when he heard Niken's question, indeed his arrival brought a lot of stuff finally raised the suspicion of the woman who helped him a lot. Ariel looked away, afraid of Niken's gaze and was thinking of the right reasons and answers to the questions of her late mother's best friend.

Niken increasingly looked at Ariel full of suspicion, because the girl was silent and turned her gaze as if evading. As a person who knows the pain and distress of Ariel's life, of course Niken now feels sympathy and worry for the girl.

“Riel, tell me. The money you use is halal, ‘kan?” niken asked probing, even touching Ariel's arm because the girl turned her face away from him.

Ariel turned to Niken, then tried to answer the woman's question this time. “Halal coc.”

As a person who feels sorry for the fate of Ariel's family, Niken is only afraid if the girl is stuck on the wrong path, especially if Ariel becomes a night butterfly just to be able to support herself and her sister.

Ariel shook her head quickly to answer Niken's question, with the aim of dismissing the woman's bad thoughts to him.

“I don't do odd jobs, actually I don't work now, just focus on college,” Ariel replied later because she felt Niken really wouldn't believe it until she explained as much detail as possible.

Niken frowned, what does it mean not to work but can still get money to spend.

“Then, where did you get the money for shopping all this?” asked Niken again while pointing to the item on the table, pressuring Ariel to be honest.

Ariel initially lowered her head, then ventured to raise her face, before then looking at Niken who already looked so anxious and afraid.

He took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly. “Actually I have found the right man, who wants to finance and sustain my life for the better, Mom,” Ariel replied trying to be honest.

Niken widened the eyeball with both eyebrows drawn upwards, trying to examine the speech intent of Ariel.

“What does that mean? What kind of man?” ask Niken to investigate. “He's not the married man who made you a mistress, ‘kan?” ask Niken again out of worry and fear if it is true.

Ariel sighed harshly, then replied, “I'm actually married to him, only I still keep it a secret considering that I'm still in college as well. I know you already, too."

Ariel tries to be honest, but still there are things that feel the need to remain covered and kept tight for him.

Niken was surprised by the gaping mouth, how can the girl get married at a fairly young age, not to mention no one knows about the marriage, but the, making Niken inexhaustible with Ariel's mind. Could the insistence of life make the girl finally do so, getting married to get a man who wants to take responsibility for himself and his messy life. Yeah, maybe that's what Niken's thinking right now.

Ariel looked at Niken. I saw the shock on the woman's face. Ariel herself understood him, because obviously anyone would be surprised to find out if she was married, especially if she only married siri. However, do they know if everything he did was only for one purpose that could make his life feel calmer.

Ariel clasped Niken's palm, giving a gentle look and a hope in her eyes.

Niken was surprised by what Ariel did. The two eyes of Ariel that turned shady, might be remembered of the late father and mother, that's the mind of Niken now. His surprised reaction may have made Ariel feel guilty, is not the marriage is not a problem as long as marrying Ariel is not a married man.

“If you are married, I can feel a little calm. At least there is status and do not let you be a mistress of married men,” said Niken gave his hope to Ariel.

Ariel's heart immediately beat quickly to hear Niken's words, but as much as possible to stay calm so that Niken is not suspicious. He nodded with a smile to relieve Niken's heart.

“But, can this problem be kept secret first? I'm just not ready if anyone asks, considering my age is not too mature,” pinta Ariel on Niken. The woman nodded, responding to Ariel's request to keep her current status a secret.

"But if I may know, what's the man's name?"
