The Goddess of Don Pablo

The Goddess of Don Pablo
Chapter 6: Love In Silence For The Princess

The sea waves at that time were quite strong. The cold wind made Nina's thin nightgown unable to withstand the cold. Nina seemed to stroke both of her arms. Carlo had expected this. The cold wind had been piercing his bones ever since he had sat in his porch. When the cigar was finished. He took off the thick coat he was wearing and put it on Nina. Without saying Nina accepted it. He only smiled faintly at Carlo's treatment.

"Why don't you sleep tonight ? Is there anything you're thinking about ?" carlo asked the girl.

"I'm not sleepy yet.Lying on the bed makes me restless", replied Nina briefly.

"You can tell me if there's anything you want to say." said Carlo. He had seen the past few days, the lights in the girl's room seemed to light up. But he did not want to ask, worried that it would make the girl feel desperate and watched over by him.

" Carlo, what do you know about my mother's death ?" ask Nina without further ado.

"You mean ?" carlo looked at the girl fixedly. After decades, she heard Nina ask again about her mother's death. He recalled the words of Don Pablo, his master. Nina must know nothing about her mother's death or Don Pablo's over-detailed work. Her father doesn't want Nina to get too involved in a business environment that is much harsher than what her daughter knows.

"Yes...I want to know what caused my mother's death, Carlo ? What did Interpol say in Italy at the time ? You must know something about that, Carlo. Answer me honestly." asked the girl hunt down. Carlo took a deep breath. While looking for the right words. He knew this girl had grown up and it was impossible to be lied to. But he made a promise to Don Pablo, his master.

"Nina.you know your mother's death.I can't give you a proper explanation. I only knew the police found ricin in his blood which made him unsalvageable at the time." said Carlo honestly.

"He was poisoned by someone, wasn't Carlo ? Someone wants to kill my family ? Is that why my father entrusted me to you? He paid you to take care of Carlo ?" Nina hunted Carlo with her series of questions. He knew the business his father was running. He knew the wealth and power his father had. But Nina had no idea that the world her father was in was far more cruel than she could have imagined.

" You better not have to think about that Nina anymore. I'm sure if your mother was alive she wouldn't want to see her son grieve over his passing. Besides why did you suddenly ask me that ?" ask Carlo back. He was as calm as possible in his question. So that Nina did not feel suspicious and investigated by him.

" I dreamt last night.someone was pointing a gun at my father's head... A man whose face is faint in my dreams.I'm afraid of Carlo...I don't want to lose my father..She's the only one I have right now." replied Nina with tears. Nina is a strict girl on the outside but not with Carlo. For him Carlo was not just an employee of his father. She has lived with Nina since she was a child. Carlo is like a big brother to him. The Don Pablo family.

Carlo wiped away the tears that had dripped from the two eyeballs of the girl. His heart was filled with hearing Nina's words. He tried his best to hide his love for the girl. At that time it felt like he really wanted to hug Nina tightly. But he broke it. He does not want to get carried away by his feelings.

"You don't have to be afraid. You know I'm always with you.we're always together, right ? you still have me." said Carlo again trying to calm him down. He let go of his grip slowly.

"We'd better get back into the house. This cold wind is not good for your health. Your father will be worried that this late you are not in your room." Carlo said back to the girl. Nina just nodded small. He knew Carlo could calm him down just by being by his side. His words made him forget from his nightmare last night. Slowly they walked back into the house.

Carlo only fell silent on the way back to escort Nina into the house. Make sure he goes into his room. Deep in his heart was something he felt. He felt his love for the girl was growing. It seemed that he would never give up his guard on that Don Pablo girl. Not because he is the son of his master. But because of the love that strengthened in his heart.
