Chapter 59: Kill Them All
Lorist decided to let the convoy continue its initial path when he agreed with the rationalization of Charade: the convoy only passed through the area and did not intend to fight for the right to rule the place. In addition, the convoy was escorted by an elite military force. Based on the military strength they possessed, Count Cobry would definitely think twice about whether he would attack them, because, if he ended up being crippled of all the casualties he would get, it would be impossible to do so, wouldn't that open up an opportunity for the other cunning nobles to make him even sadder? They believe that counting will not make irrational decisions.
Charade also said that if the count did not make them difficult, they could also trade weapons with him so that he could unite the land under his rule more quickly. As for the livelihoods of the other nobles, it had nothing to do with the convoy. No matter what kind of person Count Cobry was personally, it didn't matter to Loreist and his gang as they just passed through the area.
That reason made Lorist confident to take the original route they had planned. Potterfang also mentioned that given the strength of the family, there was no need for them to fear the rebel groups because they were especially concerned with fighting for the count. As long as they did not band together to attack the convoy, Potterfang was confident that he would be able to protect his safety.
However, Lorist did not expect that he would actually meet with such an arrogant and brutal group that did not even bother to communicate before they attacked, much to his anger and disappointment.
The convoy was divided into three battalions, namely, the vanguard battalion, the main battalion and the rearguard battalion. The vanguard battalion had up to 100 carriages with Yuriy's reconnaissance cavalry troops and a group of pikemen speeding ahead of them. Their job is to ensure the safety of the area in front of the convoy and to inform the people behind them of the best path to take or where to set up camp as well as prepare proper measures for the defense and safety of convoys.
The main battalion had 600 four-wheeled horse carriages carrying provisions, weapons and equipment of the convoy as well as family members of the soldiers. It was guarded by the Terman knight brigade, an arrow company, heavy armored battalion, pikemen company as well as 160 other guards.
The rearguard battalion had up to 100 carriages with only the Dulles carroballista unit and a group of pikemen guarding it. The main reason for that was the condition of the muddy road they were going through. To prevent damage to the carroballistas, such as when their wheels were stuck in a hole, two battalions long served to stamp on a flat, sturdy road by walking in front of a rearguard battalion. The main role of the rearguard battalion was to provide support for carriages that needed maintenance and to transport some miscellaneous baggage, such as the items they took from Viscount Mestre's castle. The people from the Viscount castle were also escorted by the rearguard battalion.
After crossing the hills that marked the border between the territory of Baron Charles and the other nobles, Lorist ordered the convoy to be on alert. On the first day, the journey went well, but there were reports from pikemen stating that some people had been seen inspecting the convoy's camp from afar. Lorist ordered the sniper company to make defense preparations and kill anyone who entered the camp. Fortunately, nothing like that happened that night.
The afternoon of the second day since leaving the border, Dulles, stationed in a rearguard battalion, reported that there was a group of people following the convoy from behind. Lorist ordered him to ignore them if they had no hostile intentions and let them do whatever they wanted. On that day, the convoy traveled over 30 kilometers.
The third day since their departure, they passed through an abandoned town along the way. The buildings appeared to be on fire with many walls destroyed and stained with soot and blood. From time to time, pieces of rotten body parts and shattered bones could be seen on the grassy ground by the roadside.
That afternoon, when the main battalion was passing through the forest, 100 men equipped with leather armor and spears headed straight towards them.
The main battalion with its 600 carriages stretched about 1.5 kilometers from end to end with Lorist in front of him. After hearing about the approaching horsemen, he immediately brought Terman to the meeting location. This happened at the time when they were about to travel across a small hill.
Given that the main battalion was the central part of the convoy, its security was managed by one of the senior students of Dawn Academy. Looking at the 100 people galloping towards them, he took the other three on horseback and signaled for them to stop so they could negotiate. In order to show his sincerity, he did not even bring his sword and ordered his servant not to be in the defensive formation.
Normally, when one encountered such a situation, one would stop and get off the horse and send a representative, considering that the convoy was not their enemy and there was no need for them to engage in a conflict.
The group of horsemen slowed down, making Lorist relieved. However, just as he was about to get off the horse to get close, something unexpected happened.
The horsemen quickly arrived in front of the senior students and a loud whistle could be heard. Two huge nets were thrown by several horsemen and the senior student was trapped and pulled by his horse. Hundreds of men then proceeded forward, stuffing the senior student into meat paste. Three senior student aides were also caught off guard and impaled to their deaths …
The horsemen cheered loudly and began to kill everyone in their sight. Since there were only about ten pikemen patrolling the convoy section, they were all obliterated in a split second.
The entire place was completely chaotic with several carriages carrying family members of the soldiers beating each other. Shouts of terror and cries of suffering constantly echoed in the air.
One of the horsemen grabbed a girl's hair on the carriage and pulled it out viciously, before stripping her naked, pinning her on the ground and taking off her pants. He would actually perform such an animal act in broad daylight.
Another horseman took the baby from his mother's arms, causing the mother to leap forward in a desperate attempt to save her child. The horseman simply laughed and threw the baby at one of his friends, who prepared the tip of his spear and let the baby land on it, before letting out a wild and terrible laugh, which he had, clearly excited by his accurate 'capture. The baby instantly stopped crying and the young mother stood there motionless, as if she could not believe what had just happened before her eyes. It is not until the horseman who takes the baby grabs him when he picks it up and bites his hand. Shouting in pain, the horseman raised his spear and nailed his mother to the ground with it and trampled his entire body on horseback with his partner.
Another white-haired old man looked desperately protecting his grandson from danger. One of the horsemen drove up and used his spear to nail the two of them to the ground before brandishing his sword and cutting the old man's head off.
The actions of 100 strange horsemen have managed to create what many would consider to be a hellish scene in a few minutes …
Lorist, who was still on his way from the small hill, was so angry that he felt like his blood was boiling as he pushed his mount to move faster, leaving Terman and his knights far behind. It was then that another convoy began to react to the attack, with Potterfang mobilizing his troops and heading to the place where the attack took place.
As he approached, Lorist let a few javelins fly, shooting at the two horsemen who were trampling on the bodies of the young mother and her dead baby.
Just as the savage male member was about to pierce through the young girl's body, the javelin sent her flying three to four meters away from where she had originally been and pinned her safely on the ground. The horseman desperately held the javelin before gurgling nonstop and wriggling on the floor with pain.
After only bringing a drop of 12 javelins with him, Lorist managed to kill the 12 horsemen before they realized his arrival and started rushing towards him.
Drawing his long sword, his first slash cut off the head of the horse as well as the entire upper body of the incoming horseman. Blood gushed out endlessly from the neck of the headless horse with the half-cut man still alive and let out a scream of agony while clawing at the ground crazily.
One of the horsemen who followed behind the first one was very surprised by the scene in front of him. But before he could react, Lorist's long sword quickly fused around his neck like a knife through butter, sending another head flying through the air.
The fourth and fifth horsemen threw nets at Lorist. Seeing him land on it, the two laughed happily. However, just as they were about to pull it, they only heard a low grunt before feeling an irresistible force pull them forward, sending them flying towards Lorist. He actually managed to use his internal energy to turn the table around and pull his opponents towards him.
At that moment, the spear that the third horseman intended to pierce through Lorist was still in the air. Lorist used his right foot to hook it and held the spear in his hand before using it to make a good kebab of two horsemen flying towards him.
In an instant, five people were killed without being able to put up a decent fight. It was then that the horsemen noticed the terrifying enemy that had just arrived. The leader of the group whistled loudly and dozens of other riding men surrounded Lorist from a distance. Given the length of his long sword, he could not attack the horsemen surrounding him and attempted to stab him with their spears. At that moment, he was trapped from all sides.
The loud sound of horse hooves pounding on the ground intensified as Terman's army approached. They were divided into two units with one going for the horsemen surrounding Lorist and the other charging towards the other horsemen. Twenty enemy soldiers instantly fell onto the spears of the charging knights, with only two knights suffering minor injuries thanks to their excellent defensive equipment. Amidst the chaotic battle, Lorist grabbed the random spear that came at him and stabbed several enemy riders with it.
The group of 100 strong horsemen was only left with 60 strange men. After seeing Lorist and Terman's great counterattack, they banded together and began to take revenge as well. Enraged by the sight before them, Terman and the knights in armor all rushed towards their enemies with red eyes and quickly incapacitated the incoming horsemen. With a long sword in his left hand and a spear in his right hand, Lorist rushed to wherever the enemy was and started slaughtering without restraint, causing ten other horsemen to die in his hands.
The painful cries of humans and animals mingled as the assailants were crushed. They never expected a convoy army as strong as that. In just a few moments, only 30 of the original 100 remained. The remaining enemies understood that they had run into an insurmountable wall and quickly turned to retreat. At that moment, Yuriy's scouting cavalry troops came with Reidy, Charade and Patt to offer their support.
With a dark expression on his face, Lorist got off his horse and jumped onto the other horse that Reidy was carrying. He instructed Charade, “I'll let you handle this place. Let Terman and the knights help you. ”
"Where are you going?" Ask Charade.
Lorist responded by pointing towards the 30 people who were fleeing as he exuded killing intent. "I will kill every single one of them, even if I have to chase them to the ends of the earth!" He then climbed towards the fleeing people without waiting for a response.
Charade shouted towards Reidy and Patt, "What are you guys waiting for ?! Go follow him quickly and bring some more horses and javelins with you! Also, get Yuriy and the scouts to support him as well! ”
……
The chase only lasted half an hour before Lorist managed to catch up to the fleeing horsemen as they slowed down as their mounts had run out of stamina. While they could still travel at a slower pace, it was far from their maximum performance when they were in peak condition.
Having just climbed a new mountain not yet tired, the distance between him and his prey gradually narrowed.
It was at that moment when the few horsemen left behind decided to turn around and face Lorist. Either they had already accepted their fate and wanted to put up a final fight, or they had not seen Lorist in action on the battlefield a moment before.
Although there was a slab of javelins worth two quivers hanging on his mountain, Lorist did not intend to use it because he felt that killing these demons with them would only give them a quick and painless death. In his mind flashed a shadow of a head filled with white hair that flew through the air and a desperate young mother looked at her spear-pierced son, who had been struck by a spear, along with a number of other corpses that were leaning on the convoy. Lorist's eyes were currently flushed red. Now that the demons had slowed down, he felt an incredible amount of patience as he prepared to make these humanoid demons regret that they had once been born into the world.
"Aghhh!" Shouted a horseman as his two upper limbs were sent flying through the air with his body falling down the mountain, twisting in pain. Lorist carefully moved his horse around the corpse so that he would not die instantly from being stepped on.
"Ughhh!" The voice of another horseman rang out as Lorist forcefully repelled his spear and used his own spear to pierce through the horseman's chest. Lifting it from his horse with a spear, Lorist carefully lowered it so that the pierced man would not slip off the tip and drag it to the floor, causing it to continue to emit ear-piercing wailing sounds.
The other two horsemen flanked Lorist from both sides with their spears pointed straight at his body like dangerous vipers. In an instant, Lorist's shadow vanished from the horse's back and the spear only pierced through the air. Under the impression that Lorist had already descended from his horse, the two horsemen lowered their heads to look, only to see Lorist appear on horseback again like a ghost. With an explosive slash, the horseman to his left split in two at his waist and shouted in fear. The horseman on the right let out a more heart-wrenching scream after both of his legs parted from his body with his horse also cut in half. Blood gushed out from the stump of slash that Lorist dyed and his horse red.
The fifth horseman took off his spear and sat on his horse motionlessly, with both hands clasped as he pleaded for forgiveness and mercy. Without a change in expression, Lorist leaned his body down and took out a spear from the ground, drove forward with it in hand, and thrust it into the mouth of the horseman through the back of his head. Since you went to great lengths to beg for mercy, I will let you die painlessly, Lorist thought as the lifeless body of the horseman detached from his horse.
The sixth horseman had long since felt fear from seeing Lorist cut the horsemen flanking his two sides into two halves and he instantly turned his tail to run. But in time, his horse slowed down to a much slower pace. He quickly noticed that Lorist had already started approaching him from behind. No, it was more like Lorist was riding his horse at a leisurely pace without rushing at all. Seeing the terrible scorn appearing on his bloodied face revealing two rows of shiny white teeth, this horseman was frightened to the point of despair and charged forward with his spear unexpectedly.
Lorist stretched out his hand and grabbed the incoming weapon and pulled it firmly. Using the hilt of his sword, he tapped on the back of the horseman's head and caused him to lose all his ability to resist, lying slumped and fainted on Lorist's horse saddle. He then took the nets they had brought and tied them to the horseman's neck with the other end tied to the saddle and threw the man behind his horse before continuing his pursuit.
Every time he captured a group of horsemen, he would use that ruthless method to make these damned souls hope that they would be given eternal death and rest, which further caused the horsemen in front to want to become even more anxious. Some even pierced the tip of their horses, hoping to jolt them to increase their speed in the face of injury and death.
However, the horses immediately fainted from total exhaustion with the weapons still stuck at their rear ends and no beating could bring them back to life.
Lorist slowly approached the enemy with his horse dragging the corpses of the dead horsemen. At that moment, Lorist seemed to be smiling calmly, but his mind quickly devised a method to make his enemies feel the most pain before killing them. He really hated the attackers to the highest extent and he did not have the slightest bit of empathy or compassion to pass on to them.
Seeing the nightmare gradually creeping over them, the horsemen looked at Lorist's red eyes with looks of despair. Knowing that no salvation would come to them, they all cursed Lorist loudly together before gritting their teeth and thrusting their spears into their own chests.
Sol, they even committed suicide, Lorist thought as he cut the dying enemy in half before continuing his pursuit.
Leaving a small forest, Lorist looked at a military camp not far from there while the remaining 8 horsemen suddenly regained their strength and began to shout loudly towards the campground as they began to pierce their mountains from the ground time to time with their weapons.
None of you will be able to escape, Lorist thought, after which he pushed his horse to run faster to continue his attack.
