Ch. 3 - Li Yuwen's Oath

Li Yuwen and his mother left his father alone in the room they had just left, they walked quickly without looking back towards the city gate with the intention of leaving Jiang City.

After walking for half an hour, they finally reached the outskirts of Jiang City, and the distance between them and the city gates only ranged approximately 1 km.

However there were always pebbles on the way, they were intercepted by the 5 black flow cultivators who were attacking Jiang City.

The 5 soldiers who were with Li Yuwen immediately took a standby position and asked Li Yuwen and his mother to leave first.

Following the words of the soldiers escorting them, Li Yuwen swiftly grabbed his mother's right hand and started running towards the city gate.

As for the 5 warriors escorting them trying to head off the 5 black flow cultivators who were targeting the two of them.

Moments after they ran, they finally arrived at the city gate. The atmosphere at the city gate was very quiet and desolate, Li Yuwen tried to look around looking for whether there were enemy traps or not.

When he finished looking at the surrounding situation, Li Yuwen did not see any irregularities, but he was still suspicious of the appearance of the city gate that was so quiet.

Since it could be that the cultivators who were attacking Jiang City had already prepared some cultivators to guard the city gates, just in case anyone tried to escape.

Li Yuwen's daydream split as his mother began to open her voice. “Yuwen, can you check the situation outside the city gate? Maybe they are outside .. if so then we have to turn to another city gate.”

Hearing his mother's words, Li Yuwen did as he asked, as he also wanted to ascertain whether outside the gate was a group of black-flow cultivars waiting.

“Good mother.” replied Li Yuwen briefly.

Li Yuwen walked slowly outside the city gate, yet something happened while he was in the middle of the gate, someone pushed him firmly from behind making Li Yuwen pushed out of the city gate until he fell down.

The one who pushed Li Yuwen was none other than his own mother, Li Yuwen was astonished at why his mother pushed him.

Yet he had yet to rise from the fall, Li Yuwen's mother pulled the knife from behind her cloak and quickly moved towards the connecting rope between the city gate and the lever to open and close the gate.

Upon reaching the connecting rope, without further ado he instantly cut the rope that was in front of him, and the large iron bars that were stuck on top dropped rapidly, blocking the passage between the inside of the gate with the outside.

Li Yuwen who had already risen from the fall was shocked to hear a loud voice behind him, and quickly turned his head back.

He was surprised to find that the city gate was already covered in large bars, Li Yuwen tried to look towards the lever of the gate and saw his mother standing there with a knife-wielding hand.

Seeing what his mother had done, Li Yuwen reacted. “Mother what are you doing? Why did mom cut the rope?”

Li Yuwen's mother did not answer, she turned around and walked towards the direction Li Yuwen was in. When he reached the iron bars blocking the way, a man suddenly appeared with a mask and a black robe behind him while holding a knife to his neck.

The masked man chuckled in annoyance at the closed city gate before starting to speak in anger, “You mad woman, how dare you cut the gate rope, now what should I do to you?”

Looking at his mother's neck that was being poked by a knife, Li Yuwen became panicked.

The masked man saw Li Yuwen's reaction in panic as a knife was pointed at the neck of the woman he was holding hostage. The idea immediately popped into the masked man's head.

“Hey little boy, if you don't want your mother to die, never leave your place,” said the masked man in a threatening tone.

“Don't listen to him Yuwen! Just leave here ... remember your father's request to leave town immediately.”

Li Yuwen became disheartened, he wanted to obey his mother's words as well as follow his father's final wishes.

But she could not leave her mother alone like that, moreover looking after her mother was also a request of her father.

Li Yuwen's mother didn't think about the shock her son was experiencing, with the knife in his hand, she quickly stuck the knife into the thigh of the man who was pointing at him.

Instantly the man behind him groaned in pain due to the knife he had implanted.

“You crazy woman!” said the masked man.

In Li Yuwen's mother's eyes were tears flowing, she turned her gaze towards Li Yuwen's eyes who was looking at her while saying in a sad tone.

“Yuwen go , mother beg you .. this is my last request to you.”

Li Yuwen's feelings grew even more chaotic after hearing his mother's request, but all the turmoil was broken when the masked man who had pulled out the knife on his thigh pulled a sword at his waist and quickly thrust it into his mother's heart.

Noticing a sword piercing through her as well as the blood spilling out from her mouth, Li Yuwen's mother looked deeply at Li Yuwen with an attempt to smile as wide as she could.

And shortly after he smiled, his body started to stop moving and the sparkle in his eyes also disappeared, signaling it was his last breath.

Li Yuwen burst into tears at his lifeless mother with a smile on his face, but the sadness he felt quickly disappeared and turned into anger and resentment, Li Yuwen stared at the masked man who killed his mother sharply.

The masked man became slightly goosebumps after noticing the eyes staring at him.

“What does your eye gaze mean? Are you angry? A grudge? Blame yourself, if only you were stronger maybe your mother wouldn't have ended up like this,” said the masked man in a mocking tone.

“I Li Yuwen swore, I will take my revenge on you many times more than my mother felt, and slaughter bad guys like you in the future. The sky will be a witness to the oath I swear.”

After saying his vow, Li Yuwen looked back at his mother dejectedly before running all his abilities towards the forest behind him without ever glancing back.

“Daddy ... Mother, will I repay their deeds as I become stronger,” Inner Li Yuwen.
