CHAPTER 20 - Revenge 1

The mission this time was over, the three of them had already returned from the guild, the day was getting late, Audrey had already returned home as usual, leaving the two sisters in this city. It is time for Hendry and Eliana to return. Back to the long-term inn they had rented since a few months ago.

They both walked normally, relaxed and unhurriedly. The two moved away and headed towards the narrow alley ahead as a shortcut.

The two brothers kept walking, the afternoon sunlight getting more and more invisible between the buildings, going deeper and out somewhere bright enough not to be squeezed into the building, he said, a place between a wide crossroads with trees and a garden on the side of the road.

Some buildings are also visible around it but less and less spaced than around the main street of the city. One of them was the inn where they stayed.

A small 3-story inn that was far from the bustle of the main street, a quiet place that turned out to be in a capital of this size. Although called an inn, this place is quite different from the usual lodging on the main road, but not in terms of the shape of the building.

Most of these are rented by local adventurers in the long run, almost like boarding houses. Although the facilities are less but the price is much cheaper. The two of them walked into the inn, greeted the few people inside then immediately entered their respective rooms to rest and changed clothes.

After that they both came out of the inn dressed in casual clothes, went to the nearest store to buy dinner and this time they took a different path, taking a different path, the road is not too narrow and not squeezed by buildings. Moments later they reached the store, bought dinner and prepared to return to the inn. It was a little dark, but the two of them chose a shortcut because it felt closer.

Meanwhile in the depths of the forest, at Audrey's residence.

He had arrived a while ago, doing what he used to do when he came home. Shower, change clothes, eat and so on.

As the day grew darker he lit all the lights in his house and then relaxed or continued other activities.

Since today was a little relieved, he opened and intended to empty his storage magic, seeing which items would still be stored, left behind, or discarded. He dismantled everything, a fairly large glowing magic circle appeared in the inner central room of his house.

Large items burst out of the magic circle and filled the room, shifting the tables and chairs around it. Seeing the pile of goods Audrey was a little lazy but there was no other way, inevitably he had to sort it out immediately so that his storage magic did not reach the maximum limit immediately.

Audrey continued to sort out all the items in front of her, which were considered insignificant instantly thrown out the window, so that she could instantly burn them for today or tomorrow. About 1 and a half hours later Audrey was still not finished, she was getting lazy and fed up with doing so, but there was no other choice but everything was removed.

He also found a lot of Hendry and Eliana's belongings, which were apparently still left behind. After everything was done he was a little confused by the belongings of the two of them, whether to be returned tomorrow or now.

After thinking for a while, Audrey decided to return it now, after all, tomorrow morning they must have been in the guild, prepared for the mission, and had no time to stop by their inn.

At around 8pm Audrey set off, wearing a robe and hat as she normally wears during the day, flying towards the capital leaving her home full of piles of stuff in the darkness.

It flew darting over the forest trees with a gripping cold atmosphere, there was not a single source of light visible below, there was only a thin mist and the roar of a monster or a savage beast. But luckily tonight is bright enough that the full moon and stars are clearly visible.

Upon arriving inside the city Audrey immediately headed for the lodging of the two of them, intending to return her belongings and then immediately go home. Audrey walked into the inn, quite crowded like the inn mostly because the 1st floor was commonly used as a small restaurant. Audrey immediately headed for the receptionist, who was guarding and at the same time the innkeeper was a fairly fat and slightly gray-headed Auntie in her 40s. He asked Hendry and Eliana's room, but he answered…

“Sorry son, it looks like they haven't come back since... Do you know anything ?”

“What do you mean Bi... I don't know anything, after all I'm new to.”

The aunt's face grew increasingly anxious and her forehead shriveled.

“They both haven't returned from this afternoon, when they said they only bought a short dinner near here.”.

“What...” Audrey is also growing more worried towards the two of them, her teeth grinding trembling as she feels a bad premonition has occurred.

“Alright Bi... I will look for it..” Audrey rushes out of the inn immediately, picks up a parked broomstick and flies off immediately. Aunty was getting relieved to see Audrey who was immediately looking for the two, she also hoped that bad things would not happen to the three of them.

Audrey starts looking for the two of them at the place they used to go starting from her uncle's restaurant. However since the two of them were not there, Audrey immediately headed for the guild. Arriving at the guild he immediately entered and asked some people inside including the guild officer, but the results were nil, none of them had seen Hendry and Eliana this afternoon after they had completed the mission with Audrey herself.

Audrey was getting anxious, she immediately left the guild and looked for him to other places throughout this city but the results were still nil. About 2 hours Audrey searched but she did not find a bright spot, even until now there was not a single clue found.

He rested for a moment, trying to calm down even though his mind was restless. Audrey tried to think about it once more and finally realized something, there was one place she had not checked. The place they used as a shortcut, some narrow alley between the city which is currently very dark.

Not wanting to linger any longer Audrey immediately got up and down the narrow alleys of this city, walked slowly, looking at everything in more detail by using light magic as lighting. unlike earlier who only focused on asking people now he went down all the alleys to look for clues even though the smallest.

He had walked from a place they thought they had passed before, until they reached a narrow alley near the inn they were staying at. Audrey looked around, trying to calm down and not rush though the place was actually smelly and dark if there was no light.

Audrey continued walking down the alley and the small hallway between the buildings until she finally found something. A grocery bag that looked brand new and had its contents splattered on the street. He looked at it carefully and found a shiny object.

When it was taken it turned out to be a jewel ring, and after careful observation it seemed like this was the ring Eliana used to wear. Audrey was extremely panicked, her eyes widened in shock while her mouth gaping in trembling. He quickly picked up his broomstick, returned to the inn and intended to inform Aunt immediately.

Arriving at the door of the inn Aunty was running towards him quite frantically, she was seen carrying a piece of paper that was quite shabby, then showed the paper to Audrey.

Audrey receives, and reads it. She is quite surprised to know the contents, apparently the shabby paper is a threatening letter from someone unknown, he said, and it was found in Hendry's room when Bibi tried to get in and check because the window was open. It seemed like the person who sent this letter had already been spying on the three of them in the past few days, thus knowing the location of the two of them.

Inside the paper there are several lines of writing that are quite large and written in red ink that one of the sentences says…

Come alone and try our opponents and I'll kill you all, or I want your life to be the ransom...

In the letter it is also said, if you dare to call the guard soldiers or anyone, the two people will be killed. An enraged Audrey frantically ran out, boarded her broomstick and headed straight for the place mentioned in the letter.
