23. Miss Amelia's Place to Calm Down

After more than an hour of waiting, Ethan heard footsteps on the stairs leading up to the second floor. He turned towards the stairs with a stifled expression. And when Bella finally gets downstairs, Ethan's gaze is completely blown away.

Bella, who she saw first wearing a sexy minidress at a nightclub, now appears very different. She wore elegant work clothes, with a neutral colored blouse combined with a tight short skirt revealing her tiered legs. Her legs look more beautiful with high heels shoes that match the color of her short skirt. Bella exuded the aura of a graceful career woman. The glasses framed his eyes, adding a serious impression to his appearance.

Bella's long hair that was previously draped is now neatly tied rolled in the back, giving a firm professional impression. Ethan is completely dumbfounded by Bella's change in appearance. She looked very beautiful and confident in those work clothes.

Ethan can't hide how excited he is. "Wow, Bella, you look different. I might not recognize you if I cross the street." he said unconsciously.

Bella smiled broadly at Ethan's praise. "Thank you, Ethan. You think I'll dress like last night while working?! I'm the same as your boyfriend who has to work during the day."

Ethan agreed. "Sure, I understand. It's just that I've only seen you for the first time in work clothes."

They both get out of Bella's house, and Ethan feels grateful that Bella is willing to help him in the meeting with Miss Amelia. He drove the vehicle excitedly as he saw a glimmer of hope.

On the way, they both remained silent. As they reached the crossroads that would take them to Miss Amelia's office, Bella suddenly said, "Ethan turn left!"

Ethan, who had planned to immediately explain everything to Miss Amelia, was perplexed. "Bella, why are you telling me to turn? I thought we were going to Miss Amelia's office."

Bella smiled faintly, "Ethan, Amelia won't be in her office. I know where he is now."

Ethan was hesitant about Bella's words. He immediately stopped the car by the side of the road. In doubt, he took his cell phone and called his office. Secretary Miss Amelia picked up the phone politely.

"Ethan?" he said in a voice full of surprise. "Miss Amelia's not in the office right now. I guess he's out with you."

Ethan felt his heart thump. He doesn't know what to think. Miss Amelia wasn't in the office, and now her secretary thinks Ethan is with Miss Amelia. Ethan, who has a secret mission to protect Miss Amelia, becomes a little anxious. It would be dangerous if Miss Amelia went out alone in a public place.

"Very good," replied Ethan, trying to keep his voice steady. "Thank you for the information."

He hung up the phone quickly and looked at Bella. "Bella, what's going on? Why does Miss Amelia's secretary think that I'm with her?"

Bella only smiled faintly and replied calmly, "Ethan, you don't have to worry. I know exactly where Amelia is. The place is safe because we have been a regular customer there for a long time. I'll take you there."

Ethan, though still confused, ends up following Bella's lead as she drives towards an unknown destination. In silence, Bella gave an explanation of the situation.

"Bella, what's really going on? How do you know where Miss Amelia is?" ethan asked with curiosity.

Bella smiled and replied, "Ethan, Amelia and I were close friends for a long time. We share many things, including places where we go when it comes to contemplating and releasing pressure. When Amelia was feeling sad or in need of solitude, there was one place she always visited, a small suburban bar with country music. We've been there a lot since college. As men, you should know us better, women."

Ethan was relieved to hear this explanation. She feels calmer because Bella will help her meet Miss Amelia. The two share stories of their memories at the bar, and Ethan is increasingly convinced that the place is his true destination.

Soon after, they arrived at a small bar on the outskirts of town. Ethan feels a little anxious, but Bella gives him confidence that everything will be fine. They walked into the bar, and a distinctive atmosphere with country music and dim lighting greeted them. Seen in one corner of the bar, Miss Amelia sat alone at her little table, staring blankly at the glass filled with drinks.

Ethan and Bella approach Miss Amelia carefully. Miss Amelia was surprised when she saw the two of them.

Bella smiled gently. "Amelia, what are you doing here? We're worried about you."

Miss Amelia looked at Bella with an indifferent look. "What do you care about me? It's up to me if I want to be anywhere because we don't have anything to do."

Ethan can breathe a little relieved to see that Miss Amelia is safe and not in danger. The two of them sit at Miss Amelia's table, and Ethan decides to reveal the problem she is facing to Miss Amelia. Ethan immediately said slowly giving an explanation about the accidental meeting of the two of them at the night club, so that Miss Amelia can accept and get better.

The stubborn Miss Amelia looked at Ethan with a gaze filled with suspicion. "What are you two trying to do? Is this part of your game? Obviously you guys got caught by myself in Ethan's room."

Ethan tries to explain patiently, "Miss Amelia, this is not a game. I told you the truth. We both did nothing."

However, Miss Amelia remained skeptical and did not take that explanation for granted. He kept his position stubbornly.

Bella tries to interfere, "Amelia, this is serious. We were together with Daniel and Sophia last night. They can testify to what happened."

Miss Amelia was doubtful. She knows that Bella will not lie to him, but she still feels unsure about what really happened.

Without speaking further, Miss Amelia picked up her phone and called Sophia. They spoke for a moment, and Sophia gave the same report as Ethan and Bella said.

Miss Amelia listened carefully, and the longer, the more she believed in their explanation. He hung up his phone and looked at Ethan with regret.

"I'm sorry" Miss Amelia said in a soft voice. "I've been accused of being too excessive. I think the worst has happened between the two of you."

Bella smiled gently, "It's okay, Amelia. I understand that you care about Ethan. I know that you're actually just jealous." Bella blinked her eyes at her best friend and gave two thumbs up.

"Currently, who is jealous?! It's not a personal matter at all. This is solely due to the employment contract agreement. As the head of the company, I must strictly follow the rules of work." Miss Amelia suddenly blushed. He quickly denied Bella's words.

"Yes enforce the rules of work yes, hehehe .... Whatever you want to say." Bella, who saw her best friend who was misbehaving, did not want to discuss it further. Bella doesn't want to pressure the hard-hearted Miss Amelia into hiding her feelings.

Ethan's trying to melt the mood, "Miss Amelia, we understand the rules of the company. We just want to explain everything so that there is no incomprehension. I have great respect for you as my boss."

Miss Amelia smiled shyly, "Thank you, Ethan. I really need to be more patient and not draw conclusions. I'm sorry if my behavior made you uncomfortable."

"To celebrate your improved relationship, let's have a drink." Bella smiled cheerfully looking at the two pairs of lovers in front of her.

"Bella, I don't drink alcohol during work hours. This drink I haven't spent." Miss Amelia refused Bella's invitation because she was not strong enough to drink alcohol.

"Yes, let's order a cold beer!" Bella orders a cold beer for him and Ethan.

After an apology and a better feeling, the three of them sat together while toasting. Her heart warms when Bella and Miss Amelia tell Ethan of their childhood. After drinking, Ethan and Miss Amelia return to the office, while Bella goes to work in her own office.
