Together With the System to Become a Pharmacist at Once a Doctor
Chapter 98's

Tian Yuantu did not want to disappoint Wang Yao or his friend. Fortunately, his friend did not insist on meeting Wang Yao, even though his mother wanted to thank Wang Yao in person. Her friend was very obedient to her mother, so sooner or later she wanted to meet Wang Yao again.

“Is something wrong?” w.a.n.g Yao asked as he looked at Tian Yuantu suddenly stopped talking.

Wang Yao knew Regather's soup only increased Qi which was marred by cold crimes (a concept of Traditional Chinese Medicine). It was a temporary solution. The disease will reappear after a while if the root of the problem is not killed.

The best solution is to meet the patient to find out what is wrong with him.

“Friends I'd like to invite you to dinner at his house. He just wanted to thank you for taking care of his mother,” Tian Yuantu said after thinking for a moment.

“No need,” said Wang Yao.

Tian Yuantu was not surprised to hear Wang Yao's reply. He's just a little disappointed. How would he explain this to his friend?

“This is the Regather soup you requested,” Wang Yao put a white porcelain bottle on the table. The stew inside is still warm.

“Thank you. How much should I pay for it?” ask Tian Yuantu.

“One million yuan,” said Wang Yao.

“OK, briefly.” Tian Yuantu did not even blink his eyes when he heard the number.

After a while, Wang Yao received a money transfer alert on her phone.

You have reached the upgrade criteria. Do you want to improve? the system suddenly started asking Wang Yao.

Have I reached the criteria? Wang Yao was surprised. “Please upgrade,” he said slowly.

He did not immediately check the system because Tian Yuantu had yet to leave.

“I told you Regather's soup might not cure the disease completely. It is best for me to see the patient directly for diagnosis,” Wang Yao said.

“Can you visit a patient at his home? They can also take the opportunity to say thank you,” Tian Yuantu said.

“Alright, I'll see,” said Wang Yao.

He did not completely reject Tian Yuantu. Tian Yuantu knew that Wang Yao could make a home visit, so he could tell his friend.

Tian Yuantu immediately left Wang Yao's cottage.

Wang Yao opened the system panel and started checking its status.

Grade: 4

Job level: hands are still green (but you're ready to fly)

Levels for cultivation of herbs: 3 (basic level). You have a basic understanding of herbal cultivation.

The biggest reward for the improvement this time around was skill points. Plus the reward from the previous mission, Wang Yao had two skill points at the moment.

Where should I add points? Medical or pharmacological aspects?

Then, I should consider both.

Wang Yao added one point to each aspect.

Currently, Wang Yao possessed basic medical skills. He adds listening, one of the four ways of diagnosis using Traditional Chinese Medicine theory. Listening means identifying the cause and nature of the disease by listening to the voice of the patient.

As the old Chinese proverb says, “A great Chinese Medical Practitioner can tell his illness by listening to his patients.”

Exceptional Chinese Medical Practitioners are like saints. Only an exceptional Chinese Medical Practitioner can diagnose patients simply by listening to their voice and detecting abnormal odors. But the saints may be overrated.

There are many philosophies in sayings from ancient China. In Han Feizi's ancient Chinese book, Explaining Laozi Using Metaphor, there is a famous story called Bianque Meeting Duke Caihuan. The famous ancient Chinese doctor, Bianque, diagnosed the Duke of Caihuan through a search method.

Bianque observed that the disease was initially present in the skin, then developed into muscles and internal organs. In the end, Bianque turned around and left as soon as he saw Duke Caihuan because he knew the disease had broken into Duke Caihuan's bones and became incurable.

Only a person like Bianque deserves the title of saint because he can identify the nature of his illness just by looking at the patient from a distance. It's like magic.

Bianque was the god of medicine in ancient China; he developed four methods of diagnosis in Traditional Chinese Medicine. He is also referred to as the founder of Chinese medicine.

Seeing and listening are not easy to understand. One must have a rich knowledge of Chinese medicine to have two skills. Wang Yao felt his head was about to explode as it was filled with knowledge from the system. He ended up having a headache, as if his head was pierced by thousands of needles. Wang Yao sweated hard even inside the cold hut. Fortunately, the headache did not last long.

Wang Yao felt relieved after he finished.

It takes some time to digest so much of the knowledge provided by the system. The system only provided theory and knowledge, it would not help Wang Yao understand and apply theory into practice. Wang Yao was required to gather more hands-on experience in order to completely absorb the knowledge from the system.

Regarding the pharmacological aspects, Wang Yao had been able to recognize various herbs and understand their effects. Now he could figure out how to mix the various herbs to maximize their effects. In addition, some herbs cannot be mixed due to their conflicting effects. With such knowledge Wang Yao was able to select the most suitable herbs to create formulas for various ailments, as well as customize the existing herbal formulas to enhance the effect of the formula. Wang Yao only used the existing formulas from the herbal books but now he could be more flexible in making formulas.

Now, Wang Yao could be creative.

The skill of creating formulas without relying on books is quite incredible. Some people cannot understand it all their lives.

Some doctors only ask for symptoms without making any diagnosis before prescribing the drug. Some of them even prescribe the same remedy for ten different diseases. It will not end in severe consequences if the disease is not severe, but for severe and progressive diseases, such measures will only aggravate the disease.

“I should be more confident in treating people now,” Wang Yao said.

It will be early spring in the first few days—the first of 24 solar terms.

The wind from the east brings warmth to the world, the sun has melted the earth, and nature has been revived.

Wind and rain from the east chase the wind from the west, the sun warms the earth and the air. All things on earth, including mountains and water, were awake, and the peasants began to plow the land again.

It just so happens to rain the day after the beginning of spring, which melts the cold in the air.
