Channa and Chaiyya were chatting in the dining room while enjoying a cup of coffee, as if there were endless stories they wanted to tell.
"Where do you know if both of our parents are dead?" ask Channa curiously.
"Actually a year after that incident, I returned to our village." replied Chaiyya.
"Oh yeah, then why don't you go home?"
"Because I feel unworthy to go home." Chaiyya said with a distant glare back to many years ago.
**
Chaiyya walked with her head bowed while holding the newborn Prince, after months of trying to hide, today she ventured to return to the village where her family was.
"Eh, isn't he Chaiyya, is he?" asked a middle-aged woman who was chatting with some other woman.
"I think so, deh!" another woman's.
"Well, you still dare to go back to this village? You fucking son of a bitch!" hardik a woman again.
"Yes, because of his disgusting behavior, his father and mother died because of shame to bear disgrace."
At that time Chaiyya's heart seemed to stop beating, his knees were weak. It felt like being struck by lightning hearing the news of suffering, his tears fell down without him being able to prevent it.
"You better get out of here! Don't come back!" yelled the first woman.
"Yes, we do not want this village to be unlucky because of the presence of you and the bastard!"
Chaiyya really can no longer hear all the blasphemy and insults, his heart aches not play, especially when the women mouthed brashly call his son as an illegitimate child. At that time he wanted to feel like he was fighting, but really he was no longer able to speak. Staring at the face of Prince who was sleeping soundly in his car, an innocent child who had to take part in receiving insults because of his actions.
Without a second thought, Chaiyya immediately turned around and left the village. He couldn't get his foot back to his parents' house, he felt guilty.
"Goodbye. I'm sorry." said Chaiyya softly with eyes that bore the river.
**
"Based on big-mouthed women!" angry Channa after hearing the story of her sister.
Chaiyya let out a long breath, trying to calm down. "They're not wrong. That's the risk I have to accept from my actions, get humiliation. But I never intended to waste Prince, I was determined to make him a great man as he grew up, so that one day if he met his father, the man would not demean him. Because I'm sure Prince's father isn't a random person."
Channa snorted annoyedly, she really could not accept the man who had impregnated the younger brother living quietly.
"Didn't you recognize her at all?"
Chaiyya shook her head. "No. I don't even know how I got to be in the same bed with him. That night all I remember was until my head got dizzy because my friends forced me to drink liquor in a bar. The rest I don't remember anything else."
"How did you get to go with your friends to the bar?" Channa knitted her two eyebrows.
"It was Mira's birthday, and she was celebrating it at a nightclub with my other friends. At first I didn't want to come, but Mira insisted on it. Because it's not good, I'm finally forced to come along."
Channa gasped at the words of her sister, she did not expect Mira who is Chaiyya's friend from the village to have a bad relationship. He regrets allowing Chaiyya to stay with Mira who turns out not to be as innocent as he thought.
"Then why did you leave Mira's house? Three days after your departure, I'm looking for you at her house. But Mira said you just left, where were you?"
Chaiyya laughed bitterly. "After the incident at the hotel, I went home to Mira, but her parents kicked me out. They said they didn't want their son to be as depraved as I was, so I left and with the rest of my allowance, I was boarding while working odd jobs. But a month later when I found out that I was pregnant, I decided to go home. But I was expelled and inevitably returned here again, until I met an old woman who offered to be a maid in her house. She and her family were very kind to me and Prince, and even when that woman died, her son hired me and sent Prince to school. So now Prince can get a high position in his company."
"That means Mira and her family lied to me? They are really insolent!" Channa is getting angry.
"But all has passed, I have forgiven them and the man. I don't want to live in hatred, I want to live in peace until God calls me."
"You are indeed of noble heart." praised Channa as she gently rubbed the back of Chaiyya's hand.
