After school Jeff met Anah, not to accompany him looking for a tent but to say that he could not accompany him. And he's already asked Darrel to replace him. Anah was very upset but Jeff had already passed from his sight.
"Well, that's it Darrel came. I go first yes. Bye."
Not yet Anah said, Jeff had gone running after Nirmala who was across the street waiting for public transportation. Jeff then crossed the highway and stood right beside Nirmala. They kept quiet until the waiting man came. Nirmala enters the angkot followed by Jeff. They sit side by side. The full angkot made Nirmala unable to move to choose another seat. Nirmala didn't even think Jeff would come with her.
Jeff also did not think that it turned out that riding angkot made it burn like a roasted chicken. His white skin turned red. At first Jeff thought it would not be fun to ride an angkot because in addition to the heat and jostling also the aroma was mixed unbecause. There are many kinds of people who ride in the angkot including jengkol traders and some are carrying a chicken, maybe he came from the village. Think Jeff.
Suddenly the driver braked suddenly and made Nirmala fall into his arms. Suddenly it made Jeff's mind change, he who originally thought riding an angkot was the wrong decision, now it's the opposite. He felt like he was sitting on a private plane, next to him was the girl he loved, sitting very close really to the level of a god. Nirmala took off Jeff's embrace and sat back down. But the driver braked suddenly again, making him fall into Jeff's arms again. Jeff was very grateful to God, he smiled while giving thanks.
"Alhamdulillah," he said faintly.
Nirmala glanced at him and she pretended to look at the window, not replying to the sadistic glances from Nirmala.
The other passengers became violent and angry at the angkot driver who had braked suddenly. The driver apologized for the incident was out of will, many school children who ride the motorcycle do not use the rules so make him do it. Again Jeff felt very grateful for the incident and he instead told the driver to repeat it again.
Reaching his words it made all the passengers look at him in annoyance, Nirmala pinched Jeff's arm. And stared with a gaze that seemed to want to say 'silence'. Jeff felt a little sick but happy. Not long after that Nirmala came down. Jeff held Nirmala's hand but Nirmala immediately hit him with the thick book he was holding.
"Lepasin, you're not sane." Nirmala ngedumel and hit Jeff's head making the man reflexively take off his hand grip.
"Of ...." Jeff said as he stroked his head and saw Nirmala coming down from the angkot.
Nirmala paid the cost of the angkot and immediately the angkot was way back.
"By ... Nirmala's." From behind the angkot Jeff waved his hand.
Nirmala threw away her unconcerned face and began to enter her house. He smelled the aroma of very delicious cuisine, bulky snapper fish that has a spicy sweet taste. In addition, the roll is not too thick textured, bi Sona knows that Nirmala does not like the thick sauce.
Nirmala was already impatient to want to taste it, she immediately changed her uniform and quickly slid into the dining room. When he tried it, he could not stop eating, the goulash of the snapper actually bewitched his tongue, having a strong enough spice-flavour. Finished eating he relaxed while reading the Novel in his room.
Not feeling the time is late afternoon, Nirmala took a bath and intends to go to the park. He walks out and meets bi Sona who is busy lifting the clothesline.
"Non, where are you going?" ask bi Sona while pulling the clothes that have been dry from the clothesline.
"You want to go to Bi's garden, you want to come?"
"No, Bibi's still a lot of work. Non never refreshing it to other places Non. What's not going to the park? From the baby Non often Aunt take to the park."
Nirmala simply fell out and chose to ignore Sona's bi words. He walked leisurely to the park that afternoon. Once there, he had time to go around before finally heading to his favorite bench which he always made as a place to spend time reading novels.
Nirmala is still reading her novel, a romantic love story novel that is unknowingly able to draw a thin line of smile on her pretty face. Her draped hair was blown away by the wind, adding to the charming impression. Suddenly someone patted her on the shoulder gently, breaking all her hallucinations. Yes Nirmala always carried away in the story in every novel he read. When Nirmala turned her head, how surprised she was.
"Nirmala?"
"Kevin?"
"This garden bench has not changed, only the brown paint is starting to dull and peel off some of its parts." Kevin said before he finally sat down beside Nirmala.
Nirmala did not respond to Kevin's remarks about the bench. Bi Sona once told me that when he was a baby, Bi Sona and Kevin often invited him to sit on the park bench. Suddenly Kevin stood up and offered ice cream, there was an ice cream vendor at the end of the park's street. Kevin went and left Nirmala alone.
Nirmala closed her book, she accidentally saw a woman coming along with a man and they joined hands, friendly. That is what Nirmala's vision could capture. They then sat on a bench not far from Nirmala's bench, just below a shady tree.
They looked so friendly, Nirmala did not expect, those who were originally friendly were now involved in a quarrel. And to his surprise the man swung his burly hand and landed it on the woman's cheek. Nirmala immediately covered her face.
Platkk ...
A slap that shouldn't happen to lovers. The man who was supposed to protect his lover hurt him. Nirmala felt pain and suddenly her heart felt like it was slashed with a sharp pain. The woman also looked down and cried. After slapping her lover, the man left her alone, without caring about her cries.
Nirmala approached her after confirming that her abusive lover had left and had not returned.
"I accidentally saw you with your lover and certainly a slap in your face."
The woman turned to look at Nirmala. In his eyes he had shed tears and many had been shed.
The woman just fell silent. Sometimes his wiggly fingers wipe away his tears.
"So you came to this park with friendly hands. But you guys had a fight then what does that arm hold mean?"
The woman is still silent.
"You won't understand. It's complicated!" He said sobbing, Nirmala could hear his voice. That's what Nirmala's eardrum captured. Her voice is so soft.
So complicated? until he can't explain. Inner Nirmala.
Nirmala was now sitting next to him, trying to comfort the woman. Suddenly the woman hugged Nirmala and was still crying. Nirmala returned her embrace. Kevin who had just returned after buying ice cream saw Nirmala being with a stranger, but in an improper mood. It was not right for Kevin to approach her now, then he chose to sit on his own dull brown bench while waiting for Nirmala to realize his presence.
After feeling calmer, the woman said goodbye to go home. Nirmala looked back, apparently Kevin was already sitting on his favorite bench. Nirmala was still silent, finally Kevin moved and approached her.
"What's wrong? Your face looks moody?" kevin asked while giving me ice cream.
"There's nothing." Nirmala smiled as if nothing had happened, even though her heart was in turmoil watching the quarrels of lovers.
Now they sit on the park bench again while enjoying the beautiful evening dusk accompanied by ice cream. The cold ice cream instantly cooled Nirmala's mind and for a moment could forget the scene she had just seen.
"The word love is sweet in the beginning." Nirmala's words made Kevin wince.
"Nhuk ...."
"What are you talking about? Love is as long as sweet." Kevin said as he brushed his smile.
"But ...." Nirmala almost protested.
"But if it feels bitter it's called mahogany, not love." Kevin continued with his relaxed.
Nirmala fell silent. Suddenly a group of violinists came up to them and sang a romantic song, then Kevin asked for one more song, a longing song that is usually sung by Kerispatih.
🎶 Stars night, tell him
I want to paint your light in his heart
Morning dew, tell him
Let 'me hold tight when the cold shackles him 🎶
Together with the buskers Nirmala and Kevin also sang. After the busker left, Kevin looked at Nirmala who was still trying to finish her ice cream and he said, "Love is one of the most beautiful gifts from God. With love we can feel happiness ‘without cause’ and more gratitude. Love can come at any time and for anyone unplanned, we can't even manage when love should end."
"Does love end?" ask Nirmala.
"Can."
"Why?"
"Because his heart has turned away." Kevin looked into Nirmala's eyes, his gaze entering into the recesses of her heart.
Suddenly Nirmala's heart was beating fast and even felt like dislodging. He couldn't catch let alone digest the intent of Kevin's sentence. He just felt like something unusual was happening.
It doesn't feel like the day is getting dark. They then moved off the park bench and walked back home. Suddenly Kevin told Nirmala to wait for a while, it was because he was willing to take his bike. Kevin came to the park on a bicycle and parked it by the lake right under a banyan tree.
Shortly thereafter Kevin was already beside Nirmala and offered the bonfire. Nirmala refused because on the bike there was no bonce. Kevin asked her to sit in front. Nirmala also turned him down because she was worried Kevin would take a chance in a narrowness. Finally they went home together, Kevin pedaled his bike very slowly and occasionally stopped to balance his path with Nirmala's footsteps.
On the way home, suddenly there was Salsa and Ruby. It turned out that they were in the park as well, as were Kevin and Nirmala. Salsa, who liked Kevin, asked Kevin to drive him home, not far from the park.
"Come on Kevin, can I ride on your bike?" Salsa Whine.
Kevin looked at Nirmala, Nirmala just smiled. Ruby who felt bad, just shut up.
