When Hamzah Met Alifa

Hamzah closed the door very slowly after the owner of the room fell asleep. At that time Haida approached Hamzah.

The anxious face was clearly painted on Haida. He already knew if Alifa went to see his father and now curiosity enveloped him about what had happened between Alifa and Steve.

Hamzah walked towards the back garden of the house while recounting Alifa's conversation while in the room.

Haida let out a breath while taking off a blank look. A few minutes he was silent and muttered, "At last Alifa knew this reality too."

Hamzah looked at Haida. "Alifa said she wants to see her mother tomorrow for an explanation."

Haida bowed and stared lethargicly at the green grass. "Then will you be with Alifa tomorrow, Za? I'm afraid Alifa is fighting with her mother."

Hamzah nodded.

While Haida is back to daydreaming. Then for a while both Haida and Hamzah fell silent.

Silence between the two. There was only the sound of an owl in the distance.

Then, Haida suddenly said, "Oma feels guilty for what happened to this family, Za."

Haida sobbed with her two teary eyes. Immediately Haida wiped both of her cheeks which drained a clear grain.

"Oma used to match my daughter to Steve. I think my son's married life will be a happy one. But unfortunately, I was wrong."

"Oma" said Hamzah with gentleness. "Oma don't feel guilty!"

Haida rubbed her cheeks again because her tears could not be weathered anymore. "Actually Oma was also afraid that Alifa's marriage with you would be the same fate. Oma's very selfish huh, Za?"

Hamzah shook his head. "No, Oma. What Oma did was not selfish because..."

Hamzah's words suddenly stopped. He pensively made Haida look at him to look forward to the next sentence.

Hamzah swallowed his saliva before he said, "Because I accepted this marriage because I sincerely love Alifa."

A smile was painted on Haida's lips with both beads of happy sparkling eyes. He looked more and more at Hamzah.

There was a sense of relief in knowing that Hamzah loved Alifa. Now just make sure if Alifa feels the same way.

"Thank you, Za. I love Alifa. She's actually a good girl. Maybe he just got less attention from his parents. So he behaves like that."

Hamzah nodded his head. Haida stood up and patted one of Hamzah's shoulders.

Alifa turned her gaze towards the clock lying on the nightstand. Where the needle shows at three in the morning.

Alifa pulled out the blanket and her feet climbed on the floor walking slowly towards Hamzah. The man was focused on teaching so that he did not realize the presence of Alifa who was now behind his back.

"Hamzah" said Alfah stiffly and looking timid.

Hamzah looked aghast then he looked back. Hamzah's eyeballs were rounded in shock as soon as he saw Alifa who was awake.

"Alifa? What's up?"

Alifa bowed her gaze, not wanting Hamzah to see her facial expression that was definitely as red as a tomato.

Actually Alifa was ashamed to say, but somehow in her there was a strong urge to perform the tahajud prayer.

"Za, I want to pray. Can you, pray tahajud congregation?"

Immediately Hamzah's lips curled a smile looking in admiration at Alifa. "Could it, Fa."

"Yes yuk, we pray."

Hamzah nodded slowly. "I finished njai. You take ablution first gih."

This time it was Alifa who nodded awkwardly. He still bowed his head in shame at Hamzah.

However, Alifa remained unmoved. He was still standing where he stood. Like someone who wants to say something.

"What's up, Fa?" Hamzah asked after noticing Alifa's movements.

Alifa looked doubtful. Even he squeezed the tip of his pajamas to dampen the nervousness that struck. "Za, I want to ask you one more thing. Can't you?"

"Please don't work with your friend anymore, will you?"

Hamzah chuckled at Alifa's increasingly confused speech that made Alifa frown.

"Aren't you laughing? What's so funny?" Alifa asked with a slight head-up.

"I didn't accept the job offer, Fa. So you just calm down."

Suddenly Alifa surged small while shouting gleefully. However, the next second, Alifa gasped in shock at her own behavior.

So excited, Alifa forgot that she was still in front of Hamzah.

Alifa immediately ran towards the bathroom. While Hamzah shook his head feeling astonished by Alifa's attitude.
