Part 5: Promise

After that, Iris invited Thea to the academy to be enrolled. At the age of Althea who has stepped on 10 years, he should have been schooled. 

While Dias along with Iaros immediately went to the guild. They look through the list of missions they can take with the most money prizes. And when they got there, they had seen a lot of people crowding around looking at the notice board.

When everyone saw Iaros enter the guild, everything immediately gave way until Iaros and Dias easily got to the notice board. Iaros was quite respected in his guild because he was the strongest there was. 

"Hoyyyy, Iaros!! Bukk!!" Suddenly Iaros' friend Halbert came to say hello while slapping him on the back. This bald man was one of the martial masters who was quite strong, and had often accompanied Iaros to hunt monsters with him. 

"Ouch.. You're the reason." Iaros said annoyedly. 

"Hahaha, long time no see. Where have you been this month not seen? Aye? whose child is this?" Said Halbert while looking towards Dias. 

"He's a pick-up boy, don't think about it." Iaros cuek.

"Ohh, I remember.. He was the one who suddenly cried in the square and ran around while shouting obscurely in the street, right? Ahhaha.." Halbert humbled Dias while laughing by holding her stomach.

Dias felt dislike for the person by putting on an expression full of hostility. Not long after, suddenly the whole room was hot. Dias stared intently at the person and clenched his hands tightly.

Everyone who was there also felt the air getting hotter as they breathed. Their sweat began to pour all over their bodies and simultaneously felt the oddity that occurred.

Halbert who saw Dias was upset, made himself stop his laughter and look a little afraid because he mispronounced and hurt the little guy. 

Iaros who realized that immediately made Dias aware by patting him on the shoulder "Already, Already, Dias. He's just an insect. uh, I mean he's just kidding. Don't take it seriously."

"Hey, are you underestimating me, Iaros?" Halbert said annoyed and challenged Iaros.

"Hoooh.." Because Iaros was quite upset, Iaros blew Halbert away with a powerful enough blast that he walked out of the guild window. 

Tables and chairs were scattered, and everyone there was immediately shocked to see Iaros's behavior. 

"Good, the barrier is gone." After that, Iaros continued reading the mission board there. 

When reading the mission board, there was absolutely no mission that interested him, because it was too easy for him.

"Sir, it's all easy, nothing is harder?" Iaros said disparagingly.

"Well, you want a harder one huh, Mr Iaros?" Said a beautiful 24-year-old woman who was the administrator of the place. On his desk, it says the name "Sisca". 

"Yes, is there?" 

"Well, all the missions available are only on the notice board, there are no more missions other than those there. Just take an S-level one, it's already the hardest and not a single adventurer takes it because it's too hard." Reply to the woman while shaking her head. 

"Hmmm.. " Iaros thinks long. However, in the midst of him thinking, Suddenly there was an old man in ragged clothes running towards the administration. Everyone there noticed the person who was struggling. 

"Help us!!" He said as he sat on the floor carrying a paper prepared to get adventurers who could save him. 

In order not to panic too much, Sisca gave her a glass of water to drink. The man can spend it in a short time, and can reduce his panic. 

"So how is Sir? can I help you?" Reply to the admin woman named Sisca.

"So, my village is in danger, because of the emergence of a dungeon that can spread disease in our neighborhood.." Light him. 

"Hmm. okay okay, go on." 

"At first, our village was in good health. However it suddenly emerged from the ground a tower soaring upwards and several monsters that appeared accompanied it. For some of those monsters some were already able to be slashed by some, but despite being crushed, those monsters appeared again and spread a highly contagious and deadly disease." 

"Hmm... How long has the dungeon tower appeared?" Sisca.

"It has been almost 10 years, and not a single adventurer from the other guilds has been able to conquer the dungeon." 

"10 years!?" The admin lady said in great surprise. 

"Yes, right. Therefore, I went to this guild because according to the rumors circulating, he said this guild is the strongest guild that can always complete missions perfectly. Valkrie Guild. I hope that's true to the rumors."

"Alright, alright. You are not wrong to come here. Then, how much reward can you offer?" Reply to the woman.

"10 million gold.” 

“Hahh!?” Said the administrator girl in surprise for the second time. Not only himself, but everyone who listened to him was also shocked. How not to be surprised, only 1 gold can be used to rent an expensive inn for 1 month.

"Yes. It was all money that the people in our village had been collecting for 10 years. And I implore you to help everyone in our village as soon as possible. Please," continued the old man while pleading in front of the administration desk. 

"Hmm. well, for a while, my request will be reported to the guild leader first yes, so that it can be processed. Later his father can come here again at 12 an." Reply to the admin woman while receiving the application paper given by the man. 

"Okay Ma'am, I really thank you very much. May God always be with this guild." After that, the man left the place in relief. 

"You hear that? Ten million loh!! If I had gotten that money, I wouldn't have had much trouble making money by killing the monsters out there." One of the members was visibly excited after hearing the encouraging news in his ear. 

"Yes, with that kind of money, our lives will be guaranteed for the rest of my life!!" Another responded to his friend's statement. 

"Don't be naive first. You should all know, if getting one won't be as easy as you think." Said one of the men leaning against the wall and crossed his arms. 

"He's right. I have heard from one of my acquaintances, if his friends used to come together to conquer the dungeon about 5 years ago along with a group of adventurers. But for some reason until now, his friend never came back." Said a burly person who was also in discussion there. 

"Yes, not to mention the impact caused by the emergence of the dungeon for the surrounding residents. The appearance of monsters around the dungeon and deadly diseases, from there alone we can assess how dangerous the dungeon is." Say something else. 

Iaros listened to all the stories carefully, so as not to miss all the information from the dungeon he wanted to conquer. 

Iaros actually did not care about the level of difficulty of the work he wanted to take, he was more concerned about developing Dias in order to be stronger. Dias has learned all the basics that have been given by Iaros, so Dias is quite necessary to improve it.

Because this mission is quite promising in terms of rewards or abilities, Iaros became increasingly convinced to take the mission. However, it seems impossible to complete the mission alone together with Dias.

Not long after, a white-bearded but large-bodied old man emerged from a room. He was the Guild Leader of Valkrie named Griamore.

Griamore walked out of his private room carrying the paper. Everyone who was there immediately noticed the man who seemed to want to say something important. 

"Consider everything!, this time we are met with quite a heavy request. Even his weight, during these 10 years, not a single adventurer from any guild had managed to conquer that dungeon."

"But, we all know that the guilds that once entered the dungeon are very different from our guild!"

"Yahoo!!"

"We are not weak! We are not as stupid as them! We are different from the others! Whether in terms of strength, intelligence, or expertise. We can complete our mission perfectly without any loopholes! Therefore, let us all conquer this dungeon and set a new record until it is known by the whole world!"

"Yahoo!!" Everyone there cheered after hearing the speech delivered by Griamore. 

After that, Griamore read to anyone who will be included in the mission. Surely Iaros should be included, as he was also one of the strongest in the guild. Her magic ability was already undoubted by anyone who had seen her fight. Because Iaros was included, Iaros requested that Dias be included in this mission.

"You're out of your mind? Iaros?" Said Steve who is a professional healer who will be included in the mission this time. "Iaros, he's still a boy. How can he survive in the dungeon that we will conquer later? He'll just be a burden!"

"Just calm down, let me take responsibility." Iaros said calmly. 

Hearing this, Halbert came to Iaros and said, "Iaros, you can't do that. People who are allowed to do work in this Valkrie guild must have a diploma in advance from school. Only then will he be allowed to take on a job that matches the abilities recorded in his diploma." Halbert explained.

"Yes, I know that. That's when he took a job here, as an adventurer. But I didn't tell him to become an adventurer and take a job to get a reward or reward from completing a dungeon, but rather I just wanted to take him along. There is no law governing it." Iaros said confidently. 

Halbert who heard the rebuttal just sighed resignedly, so did Steve. 

Dias just looked towards them with a bit of hate. Because they seem to demean themselves who have a small body and age that is still a child. 

"As far as you are. I don't care about that kid either. Not who I am either." Steve. 

Halbert then chimed in pointing at Dias in a threatening tone. "Heh little boy! beware if it is a hassle!"

"Awas? what's watchful?" Said Iaros also turning threatening to Halbert.

"Ahh, don't be Iaros' boss.."

Eventually, they allowed Iaros to take Dias on an adventure to complete the Dungeon with the others. The plan, tomorrow at 8 am they will immediately go to the place where the emergence of the Dungeon is located.

There were about 20 people who took part in this mission, and they were all the chosen ones. Both a healer, some magicians, some swordsmen, and professional archers were also included. 

Some of the weaponry used by them would be prepared by the guild manager's side, so that they would obtain highly qualified weapons. But not all of them received the gift, as some of them believed in their own weapons that had accompanied them during the course of their lives. 

"Alright then, please prepare carefully. We'll start tomorrow morning at 8. Please be on time." Griamore. 

After that, Iaros and Dias returned home. But before reaching home, Iaros did not forget to buy Iris's favorite croquet as his apology for having tested his wife. 

Arriving at home, Iaros sees Iris who is busy training Thea to learn healing magic. Iris trains Thea to revive the withered plants. 

"Yeah, keep going.." Iris. 

Iaros came and called Iris to come closer. After that, Iaros asked for a moment to chat with him while bringing the croquet to Iris. They eat while talking.

"My wife, tomorrow I will carry out a great mission together with the strongest guild members. Because this mission is very difficult, so it takes quite a long time to be able to return again."

"Hm.. How long does it take to match the guild master's estimation?"

"Perhaps, in about 5 years, you can only conquer that dungeon."

"Five years!?" Iris widened in shock at Iaros' expression. Usually, Iaros takes a month to complete the mission and earn enough money to meet the needs of daily life for 1 year. But somehow this time he took on such a risky mission.

"For a long time, was it that hard?"

"Say, not a single adventurer could return from the place. The Dungeon had appeared for 10 years and was always disturbing the surrounding villages." Iaros. 

"Crazy, are you sure you can come back alive?" Continue Iris. 

"Actually I'm not sure, because I also have to protect Dias and train him there as well. It's gonna be really hard and his chances of living are pretty low, too."

"Aren't you pushing yourself too hard?"

"Just calm down."

"How much reward do you get after completing this mission?"

"10 million gold." Iaros.

"Huh!? So crazy. With that money, we can buy a mountain and build a mansion on it." 

Iris reconsidered the loss of Iaros's departure. Based on the financial calculations that are currently stored, the money is only enough to be used for 5 years. That includes the cost of meals, Thea's tuition and other daily expenses. The next 5 years, there will be no more money to use. Therefore, this is also a heavy gamble. 

"Okah, deal. Anyway I can't believe that you would just die in the middle of a dungeon. Aren't you the only SS-ranked adventurer in the Valkrie guild?"

"Have, go and bring as much money. Don't let you make us go hungry" said Iris, who also smiled lightly while eating her croquettes quietly. It was as if he did not look worried at all, whereas in his heart he was very agitated. 

"Sister, will you leave tomorrow?" Thea said to Dias who apparently listened to the conversation between Iaros and Iris accidentally. Thea looked sad with a grim face. 

"Thea, don't worry about me. I will definitely be back. I will become even stronger until I am able to protect you and nothing will happen in the past. I will destroy those who killed our parents in any way. That's why you have to wait for me, okay?" 

"..." - ".Thea did not comment anything and still put on a sad face. She fears losing her loved ones once again, including her brother who is her only blood relative closest to her. He was still silent as if his throat was blocked by something. 

Under such conditions, Iris then came up to the two of them and interrupted their conversation, "Let's just say, try to show you the little finger of the two of you like this." 

"Lookin?" Dias practiced what Iris commanded, as did Thea. 

"Well, good." After that, Iris fused their little fingers together to tie a promise.

"What's this?" Said Dias who did not understand what Iris was doing. 

"This is the way to promise. For anyone who breaks his promise, it is said that he will spit out a thousand nails from his mouth."

"Anjirr, terrible. Is such a thing possible?" Reply Dias. 

"Yes dong. Iaros had broken his promise and spewed out many nails from his body. Hey Iaros, what I said was right, right?" 

"What?" Reply Iaros with ketus. However, hearing that instead made Iris look at Iaros with a threatening look. The gaze seemed to say that he would immediately kill Iaros after this.

"Ahhh, yes donggg. Not just nails!! Hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, crowbars and various household utensils you will vomit if you break the promise!! Ahahaha!!"

"Huh? You're not lying, are you? Uncle?" Dias who was still innocent was creeped out in fear listening to Iaros' words. He could not imagine how terrible it would be if he vomited all the household utensils out of his body.

"Ngapain also lies to little children." Iaros Reply. 

Hearing that, Thea calmed down a little and smiled slightly as she was slightly comforted by Iris and Iaros' words.

"Then, I promise you, right?" Said Thea who still hooked her little finger with Dias' pinky.

"Yes, yeah." Reply Dias, then lift the two fingers tied to each other's promise upwards. Iris and Iaros who saw it somehow felt the happiness of seeing the sight of the two children. Thea smiled brightly, as did Dias. The atmosphere felt even warmer when accompanied by sunlight that almost drowned.
